Capítulo 190: Bloodline Quest

I summoned the dragon crystal out of me. The sound of it hitting the floor startled Ethan enough to wake him up.

"What is that?" Savannah's fear was replaced with confusion, "I've never seen such a large beast crystal. The power coming off of it is unbelievable. Wherever you got it from you should put it back. The mana it's releasing will attract beasts."

"It's not a beast crystal," I placed my hand on it, "It's a dragon crystal."

Confusion got the better of me for a moment. The crystal looked slightly smaller then when I'd pulled it in before. I stored it again. Was it my imagination or was the crystal shrinking slowly?

"A dragon crystal?" Savannah was too stunned to be angry at me anymore, "Aren't dragons earth's origin species? How did one get here?"

"I don't know," I sat down on the bed next to Ethan, "But I can see her memories when I absorb her crystal."

"Her crystal?" Savannah looked at me funny, "How did you know it was female? If dragons have been extinct half as long as we think then there wouldn't have been much left."

"I'm a dragon Savannah," I snorted, "I just know that she was a she. Did you forget the whole seeing her memories thing? Just glazed right over that one did we?"

"If you can see her memories then you know how she got here," Savannah frowned as she thought it all over.

"It's not that simple," I sighed heavily, "The memories are random, and I don't think I'm getting all of her memories. Plus I have to absorb her crystal to get her memories, and I don't just get memories sometimes."

"So you get something besides memories?" Savannah was completely absorbed in our conversation.

"I learned a new skill," I glanced at Ethan.

"What does it do?" Ethan asked as he yawned.

"Speeds up limb regeneration," I frowned, "Because dragon's can apparently regrow limbs."

"So you don't just look like a big lizard," Savannah started laughing, "You can grow limbs back like one too."

"Don't compare me to a lizard," I snorted, "It's our last day here. Can we get some last minute hunting done?"

"What, did the lizard comment bother you?" Savannah started chuckling again.

"Boys room," Ethan chimed in, "Out."

Ethan suddenly shoved Savannah out of the room, and slammed the door with his telekinesis. Locking her out of the room.

"Seriously?" I looked at the yawning Ethan.

"She was irritating you," Ethan rubbed his head, and dropped back onto the bed, "And she was being too noisy."

"Too noisy?" I almost smiled at him, "You just wanted to go back to bed."

Ethan pulled his pillow in tight to his head.

Rider bond level up. Ethan Burk lesser rider bond now level 8.

Sweet. A level up. I smirked. We're getting close to that bond evolution Ethan had been working on.

"I really hope your sleepy nature doesn't rub off on me," I folded my cot down, and sat on it.

I alternated between practicing my elemental control, and absorbing the dragon crystal. It froze me up a little each time I went into a memory state. Most of the absorbed memories were just completely random images or sounds, but sometimes something clear would come through.

"The rifts are supposed to be a natural exchange of energy," I mumbled to myself as I juggled about half a dozen ice needles, "A release of built up mana into other worlds."

I melted the ice needles, and refilled my mana reserve.

Water affinity level up. Water affinity level 11.

Attempt to learn earth affinity registered. Failed low compatibility.

Would user like to force compatibility process?

(Yes) (No)

Sure. Why not?

Warning forced compatibility can be harmful to user body. Would user like to proceed?

(Yes) (No)

How much damage will it do?

Damage to internal organs moderate to sever. External damage minimal. Death possible if compatibility is low enough.

Can the process be stopped before it becomes lethal if it is failing?

Yes, but all progress will be lost. Process would have to begin from the beginning again.

Do it, but let me return to my original form first. I left the room only to come face to face with Savannah.

"You're not sneaking out again are you?" Savannah gave me a dirty look.

"Just for a short walk," I smiled falsely, "No combat this time."

"I'm coming with," She slung her bag over her shoulder.

"I'd prefer it if you didn't this time," I walked past her.

"Someone has to stop you from doing anything stupid," she narrowed her eyes at me, "Unless you're planning on doing something stupid."

"Not stupid," I chuckled to myself, "But definitely not smart either. I won't be able to do it at the school with your dad hanging around, and I only have until noon. So it has to be now."

"What are you trying to do?" She looked angry with me, "It obviously has something to do with magic, but what could be so risky that you'd need to do it here."

"Wake Ethan, and meet me outside," I moved around her, "I don't have time to wait."

Savannah reached out to stop me. I dodged her effortlessly, and took off at a full tilt sprint. I could feel the difference between the level fourteen I was when I got here, and the level seventeen I was now. Savannah may have noticed the difference in power for my dragon form, but she clearly hadn't figured out the difference for my human form yet. I wasn't quite used to the difference myself yet.

I kept almost running people since people were moving slower than I remembered. It wasn't a huge difference, but it was a big enough difference for it to be felt. I slowed down at the gates. Waving to the same confused guard that had seen me come back alone unscathed as he was relieved of duty. He tracked me with his eyes for a few seconds, and forgot he was talking to the guy who was taking over for a few seconds.
