Chapter 13
Reskeme fled the scene of the murder, he ran as fast as he could he knew that if anyone saw him close to the body it wouldn't matter that he had a disguise on. The guards would be angry at the death of their comrade and would seek vengeance on any they could.
The sharp whistles of the guards were now behind him Reskeme had been running for 5 minutes and it appeared he had escaped for now. The boy was scared and tired running was taxing especially at full speed. He looked at his familiar that looked like a wolf right now. The wolf like creature was panting and licking its blood coated body with an excited smile.
Unlike Reskeme the little demon was happy for killing the man, the little demon had already given him a massive problem and the demon had only been with him for 2 hours. Reskeme was beginning to notice the alley he was hiding in was getting darker.
Reskeme thought maybe he should find a place to hide.Climbing a roof would be the best place to hide if he could find an attic to sneak into Reskeme would be able to wait until the guards stopped their intensive search.
Reskeme was jogging down the dirty alley looking for a gutter that looked stable enough to climb. Reskeme passed several Copper gutters That looked like they would break if he tried to climb them. He was getting nervous and tired from jogging. The guards would be searching for him thru the whole city and would eventually find him if he didn't get a good spot.
Finally, Reskeme thought as he spotted a sturdy looking gutter that leads to the top of a two-story house. The building looked big and should have an attic for him to hide in. It was at this moment Reskeme wondered if his familiar could climb the gutter to the top.
Cursing himself for a fool he thought hard at the demon questioning if it could climb the wall. The demon looked at Reskeme like he was an idiot before it walked over to the wall and climbed like a spider. Reskemes familiar didn't even use the gutter just dug its claws in cracks and was up to the top in seconds.
The demon seemed to laugh at him as it let out a quiet hissing sound from the top at Reskeme. Of course, Reskeme thought the damn thing is like a damned spider, Reskeme grumbled and he made his way to the gutter and with much more difficulty then the demon he climbed to the roof. Reskeme kept occasionally slipping for a moment before fighting to holdon to keep himself from falling and continuing to the top.
Reskeme pulled himself up on the edge of the roof and rolled over onto his back his arms were shaking and he was breathing heavily. Reskeme looked up into the sky his knees and hands were sore he hit his right knee when he slipped halfway up the gutter. he wanted to heal his wounds although there was a problem. If he cast a spell on himself it would break his first layer of his illusion and that would be bad.
Reskeme looked at his hands to his relief they were still dark brown. Deciding he had rested for long enough Reskeme groaned as he turned and scanned the roof. There was a small window that Reskeme thought he could squeeze thru the window must be for the attic of the building. The Room hiding the window was indeed lucky Reskeme thought. He decided this place would be good the window was high and blocked from the ground by the roof allowing him to enter and leave whenever he wanted to.
Reskeme made his way over to the window he kept low crouching there was no need to attract unwanted attention. The window was luckily not too high above the roof and had a glass pane, Reskeme looked into the small window and could see almost nothing the light that was in the chamber showed a small dark room that appeared to have a chest in one corner and nothing else. Reskeme dug his fingers under the glass and tried to open it, Of course, he thought the bloody thing was locked.
Reskeme pried at the window for 10 minutes trying to open the latch for the outside. To make things worse The whistling of the gaurds sounded like it was getting closer. Reskemes new familiar wasn't helping in the slightest it was laying down having a nap not a care in the world as guards were patrolling the streets looking for them. Reskeme was starting to think that maybe he should find a new place to hide when it hit him.
Reskeme brought his hand to his face and called himself a moron. For some reason, Reskeme had been thinking like he was without his magic. He channelled mana and wrapped a small amount around the locking mechanism. The lock dissolved like it was in acid from making it easy to open the window. Reskeme made sure to use only a small amount of mana soo it wouldn't catch on fire just melt the lock. He was getting better and only the lock had been melted by the spell. Reskeme would need to put a spell on the window later to make soo no one knew he had broken the lock.
The window opened and Reskeme pulled himself up and entered the dirty window it was dusty in the room and he got covered in dust as he climbed his way in. The room wasn't too big and judging by the thick layer of dust covering everything no one had been up here in years. Reskeme decided this place was perfect, He turned around to call his familiar in and jumped when the familiar was standing behind him as it had always been there. Reskeme almost yelled at the thing to not sneak upon him. Reskeme realized he shouldn't reveal that he was now in the person's attic that would be bad so he refrained from scolding the demon.
An exhausted Reskeme went over to the window and closed it He channelled his mana it was tough as he was exhausted with everything that had happened today. With his mana, Reskeme envisioned the lock that he had broken making a replica of the lock-in case anyone walked past the window. Reskeme found a small piece of wood and pushed it between the window brace soo it couldn't be opened making it seem like it was actually locked.
Reskeme finally allowed himself to relax, he looked around the darkroom and walked around the wooden floor checking for a place to hide from the window there was a large beam in the far end with a hidden section blocked from the site of the window. That would be perfect Reskeme thought this Would be a great place to stay. Reskeme checked the floor and after brushing away a few old Rat droppings he layed down not caring about the dirty floor. Reskeme let out an exhausted yawn and fell asleep almost immediately to the faint sound of whistles echoing thru the city.
