Nine in the morning, one hour late from their plan to meet each other. The sky is calm right now, rendering the thunderstorm a typical one. The surroundings are very foggy, making it hard to see.
But that's not exactly the problem here. Late is not a matter of concern, because a thunderstorm may be a good excuse for them.
It's something different,
Where are they now? The forces of the Sakura Empire are gone. They should be here on the basis of their knowledge. The evidence that they've been here for a while is very compelling. It either can be seen as a number of sirens that have been destroyed are remained here. Yet, no one's here.
Kay touches one of the siren that was destroyed, the destroyer. It's awful. The siren was destroyed by a single blow, smashed like a tiny bee.
"It's terrible, Master," Belfast said. "Looks like their forces have been defeated. You 're sure you 're not the guilty party here. Only the Master can do that kind of thing to them."
Belfast is the only girl from Azur Lane who went with him to meet Akagi. She saw something beyond inhumanity. Thankfully, only sirens are here, not Azur Lane.
"I have no reason to do that," Kay said. "There's no need for me to do this kind of stuff. Don't forget that you're with me yesterday, because you're afraid I'm going to meet Akagi here alone."
After the meeting, Belfast went to Kay 's room to oversee him. Kay's going to go alone, according to the initial plan. He refused their suggestion to not go alone and making Belfast to go with him to meet Akagi. Kay was reluctant but agreed after being forced by them. Yet Belfast doesn't really trust Kay because he's done something unexpectedly like that before.
"I am very sorry, Master for blaming you," Belfast said as she bowed. "Please forgive me for that."
"That's good enough." Kay said that.
Kay is looking at his surroundings, trying to find something that will help him with the current circumstances.
"What are you looking for, Master?" said Belfast.
"Survivor," Kay answered. "Or something that will help me understand this situation."
"Did you know anything about that?" Belfast asked.
"They 're clearly being attacked here," Kay said. "They may be powerful enough to defeat the sirens, but this kind of thing is impossible for them."
Kay is pointing his fingers at the sirens that have been destroyed. Many of them were smashed, cut in half, and some of them don't look like a ship anymore.
"Can you really do that?" ,Kay asked. "Like smashing and tossing big ships like that."
"That's unlikely," Belfast said. "We might be powerful, but we're not monsters."
"That's the answer," Kay said. "If it's not us or them, then who? It's possible for the sirens to do that? Like their leader or whatever you've called."
"High-class sirens? No, it's also unlikely," said Belfast.
Kay's going to stay silent. He knew the answer to their problem. It's very obvious who is targeting them. The creatures he called "The Cell," the creatures that were hunted by him. His sole duty to eliminate all of them.
It could be a big issue because he doesn't know where 'The Cell' is hidden. They're enormous, it's impossible that the creatures can stay concealed and can't be seen with naked eyes.
"Changing of the plan," Kay said. "We need to regroup."
As Kay had finished the sentences. He shot a flare gun, a blue smoke could be seen, and the girls who were hiding in the fog could see it clearly.
"As you wish, Master," Belfast said.
***********************************
"What is the meaning of this commander?" Enterprise asked.
She thought something might happen when she saw the blue smoke. She obviously expects everything to be wrong, but this is beyond what she would imagine. Massacre, sirens were destroyed.
The girls who came with him for this mission were really shocked to see this terrible incident. They can't imagine what's going on here.
"Calm down, Enterprise," Wales said.
"This is terrible," Hood said. "Who did this thing? ".
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Kay claps his hand to get everyone's attention. He looks at the girls who are waiting for his orders. All seems to be paying complete attention to him.
"Changing of the plan," Kay said. "Everyone retreat to the Azur Lane."
Upon hearing that, some of the girls appear puzzled and shocked. Their commander is just telling them to retreat and not pursue this mission.
"What about our mission, commander?" Wales asked. "If we were to think that the Sakura Empire might come back."
"No, that's unlikely," Kay said. "There's no one here. They 're probably all returning to their base."
"So sure, Commander," Hood said. "Do you have any proof?"
Kay starts to whistle, he's going to call something. A few seconds later, a large bird comes and sits on his shoulder.
"Thank you for your hard work, Mr. Eagle," Kay said to the eagle. It's not a normal bird. It's a bird type eagle, and it has a special ability that can aid Kay look around. It's called the 'Eagle Eye.'
It will link the eyes with Kay 's eyes, showing the surroundings. Quite useful indeed.
"Nothing remarkable in a range of 50 km," Kay said. "I don't sense something that could harm us, either."
"That's very remarkable, Commander," Wales said. "So, what are you going to do, commander?"
"I'm going to stay here and ...."
"No!" shouted Wales, Enterprise, and Belfast.
"We 're going to go with you," Wales said. "At least ask Enterprise and Belfast to stay with you. commander. We can't let you go alone."
"I can do this on my own, Wales," Kay said.
"No, Master," Belfast said.
"I said that ..."
"No means no, Commander," they yelled.
"Belfast and Enterprise are coming with you," Wales said. Apparently, Kay doesn't listen to her, leaving Wales a little furious.
"Do you understand that, Commander?" Wales asked in frustration. Her appearance makes some girls frighten.
Kay relieves a sigh, gives up and admits the reality.
"Yes, Ma'am," Kay said sarcastic.
************************************
A few minutes later, all the girls who are taking part in this mission have retreated. Leaving behind Kay, Belfast and Enterprise. Cleveland and Wales will become the leader of the Eagle Union squad as Enterprise remains with Kay.
Kay has something like an earphone, calling for someone at Azur Lane.
"This is Kay, Commander of Azur Lane," Kay said.
Some seconds later, someone answered.
"Yes, what can I do to help you, commander?" Helena asked.
"Send a message to all the girls at Azur Lane," Kay said. "Tell them to be cautious about their surroundings. Check around the base, and if anything happens, contact me immediately."
"As you wish, Commander," Helena said. "Good luck, Commander."
Kay unequipped the earphone and kept it in his watch.
"What we're going to do now, Commander," Enterprise asked. "There's nothing here that can help us."
"Well, there's something I 'm interested in here," Kay said while showing something to them. The fractured sword, the end of the blade.
"A sword? What's special about it?" Enterprise asked.
"I think there is a girl who uses the sword to fight," Kay said. "If my recollection is right, that girl is wearing a red dress, a white cape and a bun hair."
"You mean Zuikaku," Enterprise said. "That is the only girl that fit your descriptions"
"It could be her," Kay said.
Kay in deep thinking, It is possible that the Sakura Empire is already withdrawing from here as they have suffered great damage in their forces. Most of the sirens they held are gone. Yet, there's something wrong.
When they are targeted by 'The Cell,' Kay should already sense it. It could follows Akagi and the others to their base but such movements is impossible.
Imagine if a massive beast went straight to your house, you can hear it's moving, the sounds, and so many others. Even though it was thunderstorm at the time, Kay was expected to notice it instantly. At least he's the only person in the world who can do it.
But he doesn't hear anything, he doesn't feel something, so it's obviously impossible.
Unless, there is something they do to prevent that.
"What happens when you try to destroy the shipgirls, Belfast," Kay asked.
Belfast is reluctant to answer Kay 's question. But she's trying to give him the right answer because she's already agreed to support Kay.
"She 's probably going to sink into the bottom of the sea," Belfast said with a sad voice.
Kay is staring at his feet. Sea full of water, perhaps deep enough, although near to the island.
Sea.....
Water.....
Bottom.....
A broken blade.....
Zuikaku....
After a few seconds of thought, Kay responds angrily by shattering the sea with lightning. He's already knew the reason why he cannot senses "The Cell." It's particularly in the water, the bottom of the sea. They need someone to be a lure for 'The Cell.' A sacrifice to be exact. A sacrifice to prevent 'The Cell' from following them.
"This is bullshit", shouted Kay. "I cannot believe it".
The sea is the last thing Kay would do to examine it as he's concentrating only on the sky. Kay is not considered 'The Cell' as a water-type creature. 'Eagle eyes' can only be seen in the sky, as Mr. Eagle can not dive in the sea.
Kay raises his right arm, triggers the element. Lightning hits him and moves to his right hand. Unleashing down the sea, searching the sea.
He detects two signs of life, one of the signs is massive, while the other is very weak. It seems like there's a cave in the bottom of the sea.
"Someone in the cave," Kay said in his thought. "She's still alive, so I'm probably supposed to hurry. Please make it, I beg you."
Kay looks at Belfast and Enterprise, which is still puzzled and surprised by him. They don't know what's going on right now.
"This is the order!" Kay said. "Be a good girl and stay here. Watch your surroundings, and if I don't come back, go back to the base immediately."
Kay said in a serious tone, making it hard for the girls to oppose the order. Kay looks very aggressive, bringing a sense of mix between them as well.
"As you wish, Master," said Belfast, while Enterprise nodded in agreement with her.
Kay equips some kind of mask, probably a device that can breathe underwater with his watch. He took his sword, too, to be vigilant as well. "The Cell" is a deadly creature, causing it to destroy all humanity in this world. He hopes he can save the girl first before he eliminates "The Cell."
He 's talking to Enterprise and Belfast as he begins diving towards the sea.
"This is your second order," Kay said. "Refrain yourself for attacking any shipgirls who come here from the Sakura Empire in particular. I 'm talking to you, Enterprise."
"Belfast, please watch Enterprise and make sure she doesn't do something foolish."
Enterprise is seeking to refuse the order, but Belfast is stopping it from doing so. She just nodded to Kay.
Kay runs as hard as he can, jumping as far as he can. Activates its element, diving in the bottom of the sea, looking for the target.
Belfast and Enterprise can just watch him and can't do anything but wait for him to come back.
****************************
A few hours ago, in the secret place of the Sakura Empire. Right now, they've been attacked by 'The Cell' and lost a lot of forces. The thunderstorm is going to make things worse, because the weather is not on their side.
"Who is attacking us? Is that unknown guy attacking us?" asked Souryuu.
"I don't know, Souryuu-senpai," Shoukaku said. "But this definitely isn't him."
Suddenly, they hear a loud scream, like a roars with a high pitch that hurts their ears. They really feel frightened because they're might going to be killed.
"What was it?" asked Souryuu.
"I don't know," Shoukaku said.
Shoukaku is trying to find her little sister, who is worried if her little sister is hurt right now. She's yelling the name of Zuikaku, hoping to find her.
"Nee-san!" Zuikaku shouted. "Are you all right?"
"Zuikaku!" Shoukaku said, embracing her. "We need to find Akagi right now.
Shoukaku and Zuikaku are trying to locate Akagi. After a while, they managed to find Akagi and Kaga. Looks like all of them are struggling against "The Cell."
"Akagi-senpai! Please give the order to retreat, "Shoukaku asked.
"How dare you do ask nee-san about that! "Grieved Kaga, she refused to withdraw.
Akagi, deep in thought. So many sirens have been lost, so staying here may be suicide. She has to act fast, just a few seconds will affect their lives. She's hesitant to give the order, but she still has to do it.
"All ships retreat!," Akagi ordered. "Head back to the Sakura Empire."
"But, nee-san," Kaga said.
"Don't worry, Kaga," Akagi said. "We'll always be able to destroy Azur Lane later."
The order has been given, that all the girls return to the Sakura Empire as soon as they can. But they weren't the only ones to go to the Sakura Empire to escape. "The Cell" is pursuing them, too. Force them to use the sirens as a bait, but it doesn't work.
They need to stop "The Cell" from following them, but how? They have no time to think about it.
"Somebody's got to stay," Kaga said. "Become the bait of this monster."
The girls, except Akagi, are surprised and shocked to hear it. They can't believe that.
"What are you talking about, Kaga-senpai?" Shoukaku asked. "Are you asking them to sacrifice themselves?".
"I'm not talking about them. I 'm talking about you, the fifth carrier division," Kaga said. "I have ordered you to stay here and to help us escape."
"You can do that, right Shoukaku," Akagi said as she grinned at her.
Shoukaku almost lost her composure before Zuikaku stopped her from attacking Akagi and Kaga.
"They 're right, Shoukaku-nee," Zuikaku said. "If this order will help our people to escape, I will accept it."
"Even though, it's going to cost my life...."
"But Zuikaku, you don't have to push yourself," Shoukaku said.
"Please, nee-san," Zuikaku said. "I begging you."
Zuikaku is beginning to cry. Tears could be seen. Dropping and falling tears from her eyes. Shoukaku has no choice but to accept that. She had already set her mind to accept the Zuikaku's decision.
Both the shipgirls are fleeing except Zuikaku and Shokukaku. They 're going to have to hold the monster from advances. It's a suicide mission, but they don't care about it. It's for the Sakura Empire.
The Sakura Empire also still does not see the monster that attacking because of strong thunderstorms and rains. Only Zuikaku and Shoukaku will know the face of the monster, "The Cell".
When the monster gets closer, it exposes itself. The monster is huge, like a jellyfish, but not a jellyfish. It's got a solid structure that can easily crash them. Not to mention that they can sting the target, they can feel the aura released by the monster. Fears surround their emotions. They look at each other as their last day in the world.
Zuikaku draws her sword, the blade is surrounded by flames.
"I always love you, nee-san", said Zuikaku. "Thank you for always supporting me. Thank you for always with me".
"But this time, I will go alone...."
"Goodbye.....Shoukaku-nee...."
Suddenly a plane hit Shoukaku and takes her away from there, leaving Zuikaku alone with the monster. Tears can be seen from Zuikaku's eyes. She put her last smile for Shoukaku.
"Zuikaku....Zuikaku...!!!!!', screamed Shoukaku as she cries. "Don't this to me, Zuikaku".
She tries to escape but it is futile. She cries again and again.
"Why Zuikaku? Why?", said Shoukaku. "There is no point for me to live if you sacrifice yourself".
The maiden doesn't wants to give up, although she can sees her little sister fighting alone. She will come back.
Alone. Hoping that she might survive, even though the chances is close to zero.
