Capítulo 2: A Whole New World

The first thing that came to Erik's consciousness was the sun's rays shining down on his face, creating a warm and pleasant feeling that made him want to drift back into the darkness of unconsciousness. It was then that the memories of everything that had happened as well as his conversation with the two Primordials before the darkness quickly snapped him awake.

Sitting up was not the greatest idea that Erik had ever had because as soon as he was sitting vertical a wave of dizziness hit him that caused his vision to blur for a second. After a minute of holding his head he finally went back to normal. Looking at his surroundings he found himself laying in a patch of grass on the edge of a coniferous forest with what looked like a crossroads about two hundred feet away.

Taking things slowly, Erik stood up and waited to see if there was any issues. With none presenting he started looking around. The flash of something white caught his attention as he looked down and saw a piece of paper stuck to his shirt. Pulling it off the only thing on it was "Say 'Open Menu'" on the front.

"Open Menu?" Erik said confusedly. The second after the words left his mouth a blue screen popped up with the word 'Welcome!' on it. Looking around to see if there was anyone possibly watching him and finding nothing, Erik returned back to the screen. Reaching out with one finger, Erik gently tapped the screen that then turned blank. Soon a text began to scroll on the screen.

***

Dear Erik,

As you have probably noticed you are not near your work or home. This is because we have already transported you to the planet that will serve as the home of your shop as well as your home base.

We have gone ahead and modified your body slightly so that you will be able to survive your first mission later. We gave you the Copy ability. This will allow you to make perfect physical copies of inanimate objects that will also keep those item's abilities intact. We have also enhanced your strength and speed as well as your senses. We might be able to give you more abilities or other gifts as time goes on to aid you.

For now all you need to worry about is to mark a spot that you will put your shop then place and design it to your initial expectations. You will be able to expand and improve later. We have placed you at a cross-roads in a neutral territory that lies in between three kingdoms. To the west you have the desert kingdom of Karn. To the north and north-east you have the arctic kingdom of Ebrax and to the south and south-east you have the forest kingdom of Tellas. Each kingdom leaves this territory neutral due to ancient tradition that this area is to be used as a meeting point during the diplomacy meeting every three years. There are other numerous kingdoms and countries that can be found throughout the land and some even across the oceans.

This screen is a HUD that can only be seen by you and will serve the function of allowing me and the rest of the Primordials to contact you as well as to help you keep track of the lists that have your objectives. It will also serve as a portal back to multiverses that you have permanently unlocked and a gateway to your own personal gallery of your own copies of the objectives.

You will receive another notice once you have placed your shop and gotten settled.

Sincerely,

Phaysus

Erik looked around to double check what he had read and sure enough he was able to see farther and clearer than before. He could hear things from the forest he was sure he wouldn't have been able to before. Once he had enough Erik began to look around at the area he was standing. Phaysus was right, this was a good location. The shop would be visible from the cross-roads and being in a neutral territory would mean that he wouldn't have to swear loyalties or be pressured into helping any particular kingdom unless he wanted to. He would place the shop near the forest but not close enough that anyone could use the trees as cover should something happen. Now the only question was how did he get the shop? The message said to mark a location so bending down Erik grabbed a tree branch that had fallen and blown to this spot at some time in the past, Erik mark the spot with a big 'X' before stepping back.

After a minute nothing happened and Erik was about to check the HUD again until a whistling sound met his ears. Looking around Erik found nothing in his surroundings. Then he looked up and saw a gray dot falling from the sky. Erik managed to look away at the last second with his hands shielding himself as the gray dot impacted the spot where Erik had marked. Once the dust cleared, a grey stone pillar stood on the spot with a large crystal orb hovering at chest level above it.

"Well alright then." Erik said before he stepped up to the crystal ball.

'Would you like to start custom set up?'

"Yep!" Erik said as he pressed yes.

The next while went fast. Erik found that he was limited to only a certain size for the beginnings of his shop. The beginning size was roughly twenty feet by twenty feet. He was able to select some wooden tables to and shelving to start off his furniture as well as a merchant's stand for people to exchange their money with the items they wanted.

He then was able to access the second floor where he was to live from now on. He added a large bed with a comfy mattress, a nightstand with oil lamp, and finally a full bathroom with working plumbing. The only thing left to do was add a work area. Connecting a work area roughly the same size as the shop main area, was added on to the back and that was when Erik found an amazing item in the customization screen.

There was a wooden crate labeled Iron Bin that was roughly the size of a large bucket. He could add one for free and then the second would have to be bought later. This bin would generate iron ore over a time period though it could only hold so much. Looking through the menu, Erik saw that there were other types of self generating items that he could eventually unlock. Once Erik was satisfied with the shop's layout he removed his hands from the crystal orb and it soon dissolved into the earth.

Standing there and waiting, Erik was wondering if something was gonna happen. The trembling of the earth was the first sign that Erik should start running. Turning around and booking it away from the spot saved Erik from being launched into the air as a massive two story tower ripped through the ground and stabbed towards the sky. After making sure that the coast was clear, Erik started for his new home.

As soon as Erik stepped through the door a noise sounded in his head. Looking around at where the noise could have come from it took a minute for Erik to remember the menu from earlier.

"Open menu." Erik said as the screen appeared again only green this time. The screen now had menus that could be opened. There were four menus with only one that wasn't grayed out. That menu had an envelope marker with a notification icon in the corner. Reaching out Erik tapped once on the envelope.

Dear Erik,

As you are reading this I am currently standing behind you.

Sincerely,

Phaysus, Primordial of Conflict and Death

Turning around Erik only jumped slightly to see the biker dress primordial once again.

"Don't do that!" Erik said before he took a deep breath to calm his nerves.

"Hey, relax kid. I just came to see how everything was going. Nice digs!" Phaysus said as he slapped Erik on the shoulder causing him to almost face plant into the ground. Erik righted himself as he noticed that the primordial was wandering around the ground floor so far.

"Looks good! Now the other reason I'm here is that I have a care package for you as well as info on your first assignment." Phaysus said as he removed his sunglasses for the first time since Erik had met him. His eyes were a burning red like fire.

"Okay. Let me get the package first and then we'll sit and talk." Erik stated as he waved towards a nearby table. Walking over to the table Phaysus pulled a literal wicker basket from thin air. Setting it on the table, he then stepped to the side so that Erik could see his gifts. Inside the basket was six pieces of paper in blue, orange, and purple. Beside those was three glass test tube looking bottles of a red liquid with gold flecks swimming through it. The last was what looked like a miniature table for a doll house with a peculiar design engraved on it.

"So, what is all this?" Erik asked as he looked at all the items.

"Okay, lets start with the papers. Those are blueprints. There are four types of blueprints. There are the blue-colored blueprints which are called Base Blueprints. These, when redeemed, will contain a random weapon or item blueprint. The orange ones are Variant Blueprints, they are used to unlock a variant of one of the eligible blueprints that you have gained. The last ones are Origin Blueprints, these allow you to create and save blueprints of your own design." Phaysus explained as Erik pulled out each piece and unrolled it to show what looked like a magic circle in the middle but nothing else.

"What's the last type?" Erik asked.

"Those are gold blueprints and they are called Legendary Blueprints. They will give you access to items that are considered top tier in this world." Phaysus answered.

"So, if I create something why would I need a blueprint to save it." Erik asked as he set the rolled up papers on the table top.

"Well this was something that you were gonna learn about later, but I guess I could give ya a preview. So, after you have a couple of missions under your belt then you'll be able to get workers for your shop. They will be able to build items for your shop so long as you have the necessary materials and a blueprint." Phaysus said as he could see the amazement in Erik's eyes. Erik had been wondering who was gonna watch the shop while he was on a mission.

"Okay so the more blueprints I have the more my workers can create." Erik reasoned as he looked at the blueprints in a new light.

"Yeah, it'll allow you to focus not only on your work but you won't be completely swamped once you become popular. The potions are a gift from another Primordial called Uzrus. He is the Primordial of Healing and Medicine. The potions will help heal most injuries though you have to be able to swallow them for them to work." Phaysus continued.

"Alright and lastly what's with the table?" Erik asked as he held it up.

"That is a special table courtesy of Edther and his sister Nuelia, Primordial of the Arcane. Let's say that you have a bunch of items that are just collecting dust and aren't selling. All you have to do is place them in the slots and they will be consumed. Upon consumption there will be a chance of a random item being generated. The rarity of the items consumed determines the chance of a rare item spawning. These items do also include blueprints." Phaysus read off a note card before looking up and giving a thumbs up with a smile. Erik realized that he could use this to his advantage once he unlocked the workers.

"Alright, now that we have that out of the way. What is my first mission?" Erik transitioned as he placed all the items back in the basket.

"So, we have three missions that you can choose from, but in order to choose one you will need to earn five thousand gold here and then you will be able to select and start a mission. The big boss wants to test whether you have the will to succeed. Use the blueprints, sell a couple items, and get going. Though I suggest that you contact me before you select one as I have a suggestion for your first mission." Phaysus said before he replaced his glasses and walked towards the door.

"Can't you give it to me now?" Erik asked as he followed behind.

"Again, relax kid. We'll talk again soon so take the time to do some work and get ready. By the way what are you gonna call this place?" Phaysus said as they left the building before turning and asking one last question.

"I don't know really. This whole thing feels like a fairy tale." Erik said as he scratched the back of his head.

"Well you can't call it that since the whole multiverse hopping thing, but maybe something similar. How about Fable?" Phaysus worked out as he smiled.

"Fable? Yeah, yeah! Welcome to The Adventurer's Shop: Fable!" Erik said as Phaysus faded from sight.

Welcome Travelers!

So, here we have the birth of Fable. I know that this was a bit of an info dump but it's done and over with. Next chapter we have our first interactions and some other things.

If you want to suggest items or weapons for the blueprint pulls comment. I am also looking for suggestions for universes that Erik might visit so again comment.
