Capítulo 135: The old Taisha's secret

The magic circle shone. A dim light appears.

She then began to start the chant when she noticed that.

"Let silver and steel be the essence. Let stone and the archduke of contracts be the foundation. Let gold be the color I pay tribute to. Let rise a wall against the wind that shall fall. Let the four cardinal gates close. Let the three-forked road from the crown reaching unto the Kingdom rotate."

The light in the magic circle began to grow. It slowly became bright. But Eleonora kept her chant; she focused on her current objective and focused, so the ritual isn't failed. She can't be distracted and fail to do so since it's for Wakaba's sake.

"Let it be filled. Again. Again. Again. Again. Let it be filled fivefold for every turn, simply breaking asunder with every filling."

After completing the rest of the chant, a figure of someone slowly formed. A bright light shone. It's bright enough to cover the entire body of a person. One of the heroes in this current era has come, answering the summoning from Eleonora Pendragon. However—because of the enormous amount of mana she poured on the magic circle and summoning, the young bluenette didn't summon a typical Servant.

Her blue eyes noticed this, something strange coming from the result. She didn't summon this hero as a mere Servant, but as a whole Heroic Spirit of Shiratori Utano, with her body completely made of mana and having access to all her abilities possessed during her life.

However, instead of stopping, Eleonora kept the ritual until the end while she saved the abnormality for later when she could discuss it with Artoria, Medusa, and Raikou since they were knowledgeable about Servant and Heroic Spirit.

The body slowly formed, showing a girl with shoulder-length dark greyish yellow hair and dark yellow eyes. She wears a bright yellow-green suit, including a wisteria flower clip with long ribbons. She wears gloves and has white bands and a saggy sleeve. Underneath is a white leotard over top of a dress with dark green accents and yellow.

Wakaba and her friends' eyes couldn't believe what was happening in front of them. A person being summoned and replacing the simple standard hoe belongs to the person right before them. That person with shoulder-length dark greyish yellow hair slowly opened her eyes and stared directly at Eleonora Pendragon, her summoner and Master.

A bright and beaming smile flashed on her face as she said something to Eleonora.

"So, you're my Master? I am Shiratori Utano, the Hero of Suwa and someone who would be a Farm King! Nice to meet you! Ah, though… it looks like I have been summoned not as a Servant but rather as a Heroic Spirit? This is really strange but interesting."

"Yeah… I noticed it, too. I didn't think that I had performed such a miracle. Anyway, my name is Eleonora Pendragon, and nice to meet you. Since you're not under any classification, what should I call you? After all, you've displayed your true name to me."

"Hmm… that is indeed trouble, but we can worry about it later. As for how you address me, call me whatever you want since we're not in Holy Grail War, right? And you have me in my 'main body' with all of my abilities intact, after all."

Eleonora nodded and smiled; it was her signature friendly and beautiful smile. That smile gets caught by the Heroic Spirit Shiratori Utano, causing her to develop a faint blush on her cheeks, feeling something that excites her from seeing the smile of her Master right now.

"If you're okay with it, I will call you Utano. Once again, nice to meet you, Utano."

"A-Ah, no problem, Master. So… for what purpose did you summon me? I know there is no Holy Grail War, and it seems… we are in Suwa…? And those girls…."

She looked around and saw Wakaba and her friends, but what she found weird was a dirty-blonde girl with a ponytail has tears in her eyes. That tear seems filled with hope, gratefulness, and longing. Shiratori Utano raised her brow in confusion when seeing that girl who shed tears.

Seeing the confusion, Eleonora sighs and gives the Heroic Spirit her answer.

"It's for them, or specifically, for her—Nogi Wakaba—the girl with ponytail hair."

Utano's eyes widen in realization and trembling. She couldn't believe what her ears picked from that. Tears also shed her eyes, with a smile flashed on her face, and she turned to Wakaba. A sense of gratitude and longing between two separated friends because of the distance finally meets in person.

"Nogi-san… so this is you."

"It is, Shiratori-san. I… I didn't expect that we'd finally meet. Those years we spent keeping in contact with each other, hoping that someday we would meet and be a friend."

Wakaba's voice filled with happiness. The tears she shed now are because of the joy, not the opposite. Her long-distance friendship became short distance, and they finally met after a long time, even though their circumstances couldn't be called normal.

Utano nodded and understood that feeling Wakaba had. She will forever be grateful to Eleonora Pendragon, her Master, for allowing her to have a second chance in life even though she became a Heroic Spirit or Servant in the end. This is an eternal and great debt that Shiratori Utano owes to Eleonora.

Seeing this, Eleonora gives a handkerchief to Utano, and the Suwa Hero takes it as she wipes the tears from her eyes. The young bluenette also didn't forget to give one to Wakaba too. After Utano and Wakaba wipe off the tears from their eyes, the former cheerfully replied to Wakaba's words.

"Once again, nice to meet you, Nogi-san."

"The same goes for me, Shiratori-san."

The two did shake each other hands with smiles on their faces and introduced themselves again, hoping to form a genuine friendship since they were no longer separated by distance. Eleonora and others simply smiled; most were happy that Wakaba and Utano could meet again since the first hero team of Shikoku thought it was impossible to revive a dead person.

Although, there are things that made Eleonora confused and question why she summoned Shiratori Utano not as a Servant, but as a Heroic Spirit, without any restriction and having her own "main body.". From what she knew on the Nasuverse, it is impossible to summon the Heroic Spirit in their prime or without any limitation. And Merlin, as her magic teacher and swordsmanship, also told the young bluenette summoning something like that is not an easy task or could be done by any beings or creatures in the world unless it is the world itself or better known as Alaya or Gaia.

The young bluenette pondered about this while rubbing her chin with one arm crossed.

'Hmm… first the sudden buff on that Stardust, then Servant summoning but instead of categorized under one of the classes, Utano summoned in her prime without any restriction. She is not a Grand Servant, either, since there is no one big evil, powerful enemy to fight. While this Earth needs them, it is not necessary anymore since everyone and I are here to fight instead.'

After the recent battle earlier, Eleonora couldn't say that she was powerful or strongest, even though she knew something weird had happened to those monstrous beings. The young bluenette also made the mistake of not using her [Observe] skill to identify the problem, but maybe if she gets another chance, she will do it so everyone's safety could be confirmed.

She slightly shakes her head in a groan of frustration. The feeling of seeing her beloved girls getting hurt—Gin, Sonoko, and Sumi— made the young bluenette frustrated, and she blamed herself since they promised not to want Eleonora's help so they could get stronger.

Eleonora's lovers' don't want to be seen as weak, fragile, and useless. They also want to lessen the young bluenette's burden, who always cared for them, and they want to repay that because every one of Eleonora's lovers loves her.

'Couldn't believe I became overconfident and forgot not to do that. Learning the weakness or anything about my enemy is more important. I think I understand why many Japanese RPG is a turn-based system so the player can take the time to find out and analyze their enemies' weaknesses and such. But first…'

She looked up, letting a fake cough, which gained everyone's attention, and said something to them. They all looked at the young bluenette with curiosity and confusion.

"Utano, Nogi-san, and everyone—how about we get to the safest place? Since it seems that… our expedition, mainly Nogi-san's team, have ended with… unbelievable result."

As they heard that, Eleonora got affirmative nods from everyone who agreed with the young bluenette. Although it's sad and depressing, Wakaba and her team still be relieved that there a sliver chance of hope shining towards them.

"Yes!"

With that responses, Eleonora and everyone moved forward from the ruined cities and went to Shikoku to discuss many things they knew and saw during the expedition. It's a little bitter and regrettable, but deep down, Wakaba and her team, plus Utano, looked at Eleonora full of hopes. They were sure that Eleonora and her team could prevent the crisis or save many people more than they could do when they were still here.

Netheos felt another heavy burden placed onto him, causing him to release a heavy sigh of tiredness and exasperated. Honestly, his work couldn't catch a nice break, and his salary wasn't getting any raise, which sucked for him and made him give a middle finger to the higher-up, especially that lazy no-panties goddess, not giving any chance or permission for it.

He reported the weird accident that Eleonora and her group are facing just now. However, it was shrugged off and told him that it would be fixed in due time, which was doubtful since one of the gods responsible for this is a lazy, incompetent goddess known as Aqua. They said it was indeed a bug within the code, and Netheos had no choice but to obey it and wait for the result, hoping Eleonora's life won't be changed in the worst way.

Rubbing his face with his hands, Netheos let out another heavy, tired sigh. But then, his shoulder felt something, and he turned to see a beautiful girl with long silvery hair and blue eyes. It's his fellow junior in work. That girl sent her an apologetic smile and worried as she said something to Netheos.

"Netheos-san, sorry for Aqua-senpai… eccentric behavior."

"… It's not your fault, okay? That is totally on her. Honestly, I couldn't believe someone like her has a high status with how bad her track record is. Is this what they called 'corruption' and 'bribed'? Did she bribe one of the executives to let herself get that status…?"

"It is shocking, but we couldn't do anything against it, Netheos-san. If Aqua-senpai cheats her way, we should do the opposite and prove to everyone that we could get the same status as her. And I have faith that Aqua-senpai will soon have a bad tragedy upon her."

"That is scary foreshadowing, Eris-san… you know, the case I've found is weird, and they said it's a bug caused within the program, but I had my suspicion on some gods that… have some problem with themselves. I bet they are the ones who were causing it."

Netheos voiced his opinion, causing Eris' blue eyes to squint in disbelief when she heard it.

"Did you mean… a rouge or troublemaker gods? Do you think it's one of them or if not, some are the ones who did that, Netheos-san?"

However, Netheos just shrugged since he was unsure when Eris asked him.

"It's just my guess or opinion. I haven't found any solid proof of it. That's why I didn't report it to the higher-ups. Sheesh… why has this become more complicated. All I want is a peaceful life with a steady job and salary; maybe a promotion would be good."

Eris chuckled amusingly when Netheos complained while scratching his hair messily.

Since the exploration to find survivors ended up in failure because Wakaba and her group couldn't find anyone alive in the designated cities outside of Shinju's barriers—they decided to return to Shikoku while hiding the fact that Shiratori Utano was here. Because Eleonora and Utano themselves explained the reason. With her friends—except Chikage—Wakaba reluctantly accepts it since they trusted Taisha and the likes.

Gin, Sonoko, and Sumi felt sorry and saddened when their ancestors were like that. However, they also understand it because their ancestors didn't know the whole truth, and they also were like them until Eleonora told them the truth. Although it seems Chikage is the one who has always been cautious and suspicious of Taisha and heroes things.

'Shiratori-san's case is top secret, and it's a wise and understandable choice if we should hide it from anyone outside us. However… I worry about Takashima-san, Doi-san, and Iyojima-san—because they're bad at keeping secrets. Though, it's surprising that Nogi-san would agree since she looks like the serious, honest type and views Taisha as the ally of justice.'

After traveling from the cities outside of barriers, they arrived at the Shikoku. After that, the heroes directly report to the Taisha about the exploration, which ends up failing and making the most of the Taisha isn't satisfied with the result. But they congratulate the heroes despite the failure.

And several days have passed. During that time, the heroes need rest, and Eleonora's group understands that. So, after getting enough rest, the heroes and Eleonora's group went to the place that Anzu had told everyone. It's Marugame Castle and on the grounds. A field of grass and perfect for a picnic, the flat and vast ground also fits for training field.

As she saw that everyone gathered, Wakaba began to say something to everyone who sat on the prepared chairs made by Eleonora.

Wakaba and her friends became astonished and amazed even further witnessing it. But that's not the current focus as she let out a fake cough to everyone present. She and her entire team bowed politely to Eleonora's groups.

"Thank you very much for saving us, everyone! If not for you all, we haven't been sure that one of us would have survived, and even further… bring back Shiratori-san. Even though the exploration was deemed a failure since there were no survivors, but… we could consider Shiratori-san as one. I know that her circumstance isn't normal, and we have to hide it, but still… It's an achievement for us."

Wakaba said with sincerity, and her friends nodded in agreement with the leader. They are really thankful and owe Eleonora and her groups for that. The said groups that received the thank you from the girls in front of them only smiled as they were happy and understood. Eleonora then spoke and gave Wakaba her response.

"It's no problem, Nogi-san. We help you not because expecting rewards or something. After all, it's our goal from the beginning to save you all. As for Utano, it's also something you should not overthink since I didn't expect that the result turned out to be better than what I've expected."

Eleonora chuckled, causing Wakaba's group to have their cheeks go deep red, as they found it charming. The young bluenette's lovers and friends were amused seeing Wakaba's group reactions. Some are giggles, chuckles, sweatdrops with a nervous laugh.

Even her Servant or Heroic Spirit scratched her cheeks with a nervous laugh. But then, the former solo hero and protector of the Nagano Region spoke as she tried to gain everyone's attention with a fake cough.

"Ahem. Sorry for ruining the mood, everyone… but I have something to say."

A serious expression flashed on Utano's face and made everyone flinch and understand it quickly, especially Wakaba and her friends. The first Shikoku hero's team leader already knew what Utano would say, which made them depressed. And Chikage responded to that with her arm crossed.

"…Taisha, huh. They manipulate people and say that our campaign is a success, while the truth is not exactly."

"But Gun-chan… didn't we' success'? Shiratori-san is here with us, and so is Ryu-chan and everyone!"

Yuuna convinced Chikage and tried to be positive, but the scythe-wielder hero denied it by shaking her head. The long black-haired girl with a semi-tied bun continued what she said while answering and denied the red-haired hero girl's words.

"But Shiratori-san is a unique case and top secret. Have you forgotten about what we talk earlier, Takashima-san? We can't report it to Taisha, and we have to keep it to ourselves. Taisha cannot be trusted with it. I know we were indebted to them, but…."

Chikage clenched her fists and gritted her teeth in frustration when she remembered what she had gone through. Asides from Chikage, everyone in the hero team has a good relationship with each family member, unlike her own family.

Yuuna, Eleonora, Wakaba, and everyone looked at Chikage with concerned faces. The young bluenette holds Chikage's hand, causing the latter to be surprised and feel comfortable when she knows whose hand it is. That soft touch from Eleonora's hand to hers made the scythe-wielder hero feel calm and relaxed.

She muttered with a faint blush on her cheeks to Eleonora while her other hand touched the young bluenette's hand.

"Thank you, Eleonora-san."

Eleonora simply nods in response seeing the happy smile on Chikage's face. Even though the young bluenette doesn't have the same experience and suffering as the black-haired scythe-user, she could understand and be aware of it.

Seeing the mood, Wakaba took Chikage's turn and went to say something to Yuuna, continuing it.

"…Yuuna, I know what you want to say. I know you want to defend Taisha, but the fact that they told the people our campaign is a success when it's not is proving it. The Taisha has done that only in a mere week. They manipulated the news and told everyone a lie."

"Wakaba-chan… so does that mean… Taisha is the bad guy?"

"…I am afraid so, Yuuna. It's true that we owe and are in debt to them, but we shouldn't turn blind and ignore what they did. And… after talking this with our successor and predecessor, I became convinced and absolutely sure that Taisha is the bad guy."

Wakaba replied with honesty while looking downcast. What she said may not be bright and sounds wrong, but it is the truth nonetheless. She couldn't turn blind and not think about that; after all, even if Taisha would become their enemy, then the heroes also have to face them. It's one of their duties asides from fighting the Vertexes and avenging humanity.

Hinata nodded and agreed with her childhood friend; even though it sounds wrong to betray the Taisha but they're the ones who been betrayed by them first. The Taisha makes Wakaba and her group's effort look like a plaything and as if they didn't care about the heroes' feelings at all.

The current mood of the group became so tense after Wakaba said that. Seeing that, the rosy-purple-haired miko then speaks out something to everyone here, taking the turn after her childhood friend finished with her own. Hoping that she can swiftly change the mood to become a bit bright.

"Not to mention we encounter a strange case with the Vertexes. While they are indeed odd from the very beginning—however, as of right now, they have an addition to their ability to adjust their strength to the opponent they face. It's one frightening ability we have to face in the future."

And she failed to brighten the group's mood as it became depressed once more, especially Wakaba's group. At the same time, Eleonora's group also had some worries —however, rather than fall into depression, they quickly had a short discussion about it.

But one of Eleonora's group members, Aletia Galdea Vesperitio Avatarl—a former Vampire Princess who turned to Divine Vampire because of Eleonora—voiced her opinion by raising a hand to gain everyone's attention towards her.

"I recall that Eleonora slashed one without confronting it directly. She easily decimates that monster, unlike the rest."

Aletia said that causing everyone to be surprised, and Eleonora already suspected this. She has indeed slashed that one easily without much hardship, unlike the other monsters. They wondered what caused it to be like that. However, Artoria raised a hand before anyone else and said something since some things had clicked on her mind.

"I have a theory that happened because Eleonora made the attack before that thing could see or gain a good look at Eleonora. I guess, before its eyes catch on anyone, we could kill it easily without having their strength adjusted to ours."

"I see… so the eyes worked like a scanner, huh. If that is true, no wonder I have difficulty against the second one."

"And me, Sonoko, also Sumi won't get wrecked easily like that by them. Damnit."

"It's not entirely our fault, Mino-san! It can't be helped since we don't know anything about it. We just thought they were easy to deal with like before. Our cockiness and carelessness were the ones who caused it."

Sonoko said as she tried to calm and comfort Gin, who was frustrated having to remember their own carelessness and failure. Sumi has to agree with Gin since it's one of the biggest mistakes they been made just because they are already strong enough to deal with Stardusts quickly after their training.

They didn't expect something like that would happen, and Eleonora also felt guilty since she didn't use her [Observe] beforehand. She wanted to say that, but the young bluenette knew her lovers won't blame her for that.

"Uhm… so, guys, what should we do about those monsters? Should we report it to the Taisha?"

Doi Tamako asked a question to everyone. She doesn't know what they would do regarding the abnormality of those Vertexes. They are heroes and only good at punching and beating those monsters, especially with Tamako and Yuuna, who haven't used their brains to perform strategies or tactics when dealing with the Vertexes.

"I think we should keep it quiet and secret, too, Tamacchi-senpai. We couldn't trust Taisha, and it's good we also didn't tell them about Eleonora-san and her friends' existence. If we do, they will do anything to make Eleonora-san's group under their controls and supervision all day or twenty-four hours."

"I agree with Iyojima-san. Shiratori-san's revival, the absurd ability of those monsters, and Eleonora-san's group's existence are top secrets among us that shouldn't be told outside of our groups. I hate to repeat this, but Doi-san and Takashima-san are the ones who should carefully not let this slip. Got it?"

Chikage warned and demanded the replies from both Tamako and Yuuna, who were frightened and bobbed their heads quickly, as they were scared when the scythe-wielder hero made that look and emphasized the last words.

"Y-Yeah, we for sure won't do it!"

"Y-Yes! You can count on us, Gun-chan! I won't blab about Ryu-chan and her friends!"

Both tried to convince Chikage, who hadn't believed them, given the natures of their personality too. It is really not convincing for someone like Chikage.

"I hope so…."

The black-haired scythe user muttered with a heavy sigh and a deadpan look as she didn't expect much from those two. While Chikage was on good terms and close friends with Yuuna, the former still couldn't trust the red-haired girl with such a big thing. After all, Takashima Yuuna gives the look of an honest girl who can easily be manipulated because of her naivety.

'It will take everyone to make Doi-san and Takashima-san won't slip what they heard to the people around. Taisha has eyes and ears at everything, but luckily, Eleonora-san and her friends do some of their magic to prevent that earlier. It's really convenient.'

Chikage thought as she was impressed at Eleonora and her group.
