Capítulo 19: Chapter 19 Behind-the-scenes Communication

Editor: Atlas Studios

After a wail of sirens, three ambulances roared in from the distance.

A dozen or so medical personnel, clad in protective suits, unloaded three healing pods from the big ambulances, and respectively carried the slightly injured Gao Fei, the seriously wounded Li Teng, and the deceased Guo Zhipeng inside.

The healing pod contained a substance that existed somewhere between liquid and solid, and upon being placed inside, Li Teng sank into it.

The excruciating pain from his fractures quickly subsided under the immersion of this substance, and Li Teng could feel his badly injured body rapidly healing.

It was a very strange sensation.

Five minutes later, Li Teng's body had completely returned to normal.

The healing pod opened, and Li Teng sat up inside, his clothes not even wet.

He even felt much better than when he had first arrived, feeling incredibly refreshed, as if the treatment had also repaired the damage to his body caused by extreme thirst and hunger atop the stone pillar over the past few days.

Having experienced so many unbelievable things in the real world, Li Teng was now certain that the dimension he was in was no longer the real world he was familiar with.

At least, the level of medical technology here was something the real world could not reach.

Before Li Teng emerged from the pod, the slightly injured Gao Fei had already exited first.

Guo Zhipeng was still undergoing treatment.

Li Teng took this time to visit the coffee shop's restroom.

Ten minutes later, the deceased Guo Zhipeng was also revived, and he sat up from the healing pod with a gloomy expression on his face.

As long as one didn't die on the set, treatment for injuries in the medical pod was free of charge.

However, reviving from death to life in the medical pod required a large number of points once one died on the set.

Guo Zhipeng spent 1000 points to revive himself.

He didn't have that many points in his account.

Therefore, Film and Television City would seal him up, encase him in what was referred to as a wax figure.

Unless someone made up for his negative points, the seal on him wouldn't be lifted.

...

After treating the injuries and reviving the dead actors, the filming of this scene officially wrapped up.

After the filming wrapped up, the actors would engage in post-filming interaction for a period of time.

The post-filming interaction was divided into six segments.

The first was the performance summary: a ten-minute duration where the actors could speak freely to discuss and summarize the scene, with the film director also participating.

The second was the wax sealing ceremony: the actors who perished in this scene would be turned into wax figures.

The third was the points distribution segment: announcing the number of points each person had earned in this scene.

The fourth was the question and answer session: actors present could ask questions, which could only be answered by actors of a higher tier. If the answer was correct and the director deemed it genuinely helpful to the inquirer, the person who answered would receive a reward of 1 to 10 points.

Every lower-tier actor had the right to ask one question.

For seasoned actors who had already progressed through several scenes, it was also a good opportunity to scoop up some extra points.

The fifth segment was the newcomer lottery. For newcomers making their first trip to the island, they had all more or less spent some points on exchanging for food and clothing and the like; there could also be expenses such as bathing, playing ball games, watching movies, and arcade games.

Some might have used up the loaned 100 points, and if they couldn't repay it before leaving, they would be forcibly turned into wax statues.

Thus, newcomers were given the privilege of a lottery, which Gao Fei had already introduced to Li Teng earlier.

Following the newcomer lottery, the sixth segment involved handling extra affairs, which varied and were not always certain; this segment could be skipped entirely if there were no affairs to process.

After the six segments, everyone would then be forcibly returned to their respective pillars by helicopter.

The first segment quickly began, and the crowd still sat on high stools, gathered around the large round tables on the street, sipping coffee with various expressions.

Guo Zhipeng, who was about to be sealed in wax, was still present, but this time the looks that most of the others gave him were somewhat different from before.

There was a mix of mockery and sympathy.

Guo Zhipeng had also lost his previous arrogant demeanor, appearing very dejected and despondent.

"A successful counterattack! Bro, you're really badass!" Gao Fei gave a thumbs-up to Li Teng.

"Indeed, badass! You had me completely dumbfounded," the female office worker also expressed her admiration.

"I really didn't expect that kind of solution, can we really do it like this?" the old woman also spoke up.

Li Teng smiled and said nothing, continuing to drink his coffee.

"Director, I protest! He seriously violated the rules during the shooting! Why didn't you call cut then?" Although Guo Zhipeng knew the result couldn't be changed, he still brought it up to the director.

"Yeah! His behavior of taking a stool from the café to the street completely contradicts the role of a pedestrian. Leaping up and attacking the driver with a high stool when the car was speeding towards him is even more inconceivable. This matter warrants careful handling by the director, it's best to reshoot that scene," Glasses Man also supported Guo Zhipeng's statement.

Guo Zhipeng was a tier above everyone else present, and Glasses Man had sacrificed his own dignity to cling to Guo's influential position, so of course, he wasn't willing to just watch Guo become a wax statue.

The rest also looked towards the director. Taking a stool and charging at a sports car did seem like a serious violation of the rules, and the director should offer a clear explanation; otherwise, it would be difficult for people to understand what the rules actually were.

"Your protest is invalid! I said before the performance that everything would be subject to my instructions on the scene," the director directly refused Guo Zhipeng's protest.

"The hell... Why not?" Guo Zhipeng was highly dissatisfied with the director's response.

Are the director and that bastard related? Otherwise why the favoritism? How the hell are we supposed to act?

"We extras do have some autonomy, the key is how to fully understand what the director says," the female office worker spoke from experience.

At the time, she was already across the street, yet the director instructed her to retrieve a bank card fallen in the center, and the female office worker successfully utilized the scarce autonomy of an actor to seek help from others around her without violating the rules or director's instructions, resulting in Gao Fei becoming her unfortunate scapegoat.

"Less of the bullshit!" Guo Zhipeng believed the female office worker was just making excuses.

Whether you walk fast or slow, you're under the director's control, but stealing a stool to smash a sports car is ignored? Isn't this double standard too obvious?

Li Teng chuckled coldly, saying nothing and continuing with his coffee.

At that moment, he had been driven to a dead end with no choice; grabbing the stool was just an attempt, and since it wasn't obstructed, that led to what happened next.

All he had done was follow the director's instructions, to walk fast or slow indeed, would garner instructions from the director, but the director never said he couldn't use a stool to hit a sports car.

History is always written by the victors. He survived, and Guo Zhipeng was out of the game—that was enough.
