Capítulo 59: Chapter-59 Pro-Gamer Move

"Alright, everyone! This is the moment we all have been waiting for all this time. The final round is upon us! Erik Saltzman has dominated the entire [Ice-Pillar Break] event with his magic!..."

The commentators were excited at the prospect of seeing more magic from Erik, for the last three rounds, the said person has been destroying his opponents using a single spell.

Now in the final round, he was going up against a dark house in the event, the participant representing the [Sixth-High School] has also dominated his opponents and now both of these individuals were going face-to-face against each other.

"I believe this round will be the most entertaining to watch, it's a gut feeling so I am looking forward to seeing what happens..."

𝔹𝕝𝕒𝕣𝕖! (Blare!)

The sound of buzzer went off as both of the finalists made their way towards their respective towers, the 12-feet tall tower gave quite a feeling to those standing on it.

On the left side, stood Erik wearing the same black suit with a red tie, a Gun-shaped C.A.D strapped to his waist and his black gloves.

He had a calm expression on his face, not feeling pressured at all.

Whereas on the right side stood a young man with brown coloured hair, not a native Japanese like Erik himself but a Japanese nevertheless.

He wore simple white robes, similar to how a Taoist dress up. It didn't really come off as a surprise, considering that he is a Yoshida.

The Yoshida clan was an ancient clan which specializes in [Spirit-magic], they use talismans to channel their magic similar to how their ancestors used magic, an ancient clan of Taoists.

Erik observed his opponent, observing semblance to one of the characters he remembered in the novel.

Yoshida Motohiko, elder brother of Yoshida Mikihiko. Erik remembered the ancient magician in the "Tatsuya squad", the shy lad who became a prisoner to his magic after his failed attempt at summoning the [Spirit of a Dragon].

'Well, it looks like I am going to fight the elder brother of that lad. Very curious to see just how does he plan to compete against me...'

According to what he remembered, there wasn't enough destructive power behind the talisman that Yoshida clan used.

Ignoring the non-important thoughts, Motohiko looked at his opponent and took a deep breath.

The commentators looked towards the clock, noticing that it was time, to begin with, the final round.

"Alright! The event is finally about to end with this final round!....."

"3...2....1...Begin!....."

"[Soul-Punisher]....."

Just like in the previous matches, Erik used the same magic and launched a rainbow-light sphere, the sphere turned into 12-white beams heading towards the opponent's pillars.

"Not so fast!...."

Motohiko immediately waves his palm as multiple talismans flow out of his sleeves and form a circular array around his 12-pillars.

A purple-light emerged out of the talisman, taking the shape of a dome. The purple-light covered the 12-pillars inside a dome-like shell.

The white beams impacted the purple-light with intense force, causing the dome to shake but it didn't break under the force.

"Now!....."

The white beams started to rotate along with the dome, slowly but surely they were turning into pure energy.

More talisman flew out of Motohiko's sleeves, forming a hexagonal pattern above Erik's pillars.

"[Spirit Magic:-Nirvana Flames]...."

The hexagonal pattern lit up, purple lights shone over the arena. Suddenly green coloured flames emerged from the pattern, falling towards the pillars.

'Hmm.....he is using talisman to open a portal between the spirit world and the real world, borrowing a portion of the phoenix power to attack with such flames!....'

"[Convergence-Type magic:-Frozen sea]....."

A magic sequence appeared above the 12-pillars, followed by a huge amount of ice to shoot up towards the incoming fire.

ℍ𝕚𝕤𝕤! (Hiss!)

Due to the collision of fire hotter than lava and ice, lots of dangerous steam was released all over the place. The protective measures placed by the organizers immediately channelled the steam up high into the air.

"His fire is burning through the ice? Interesting...."

The green flames were not put out by the ton of ice but eventually flickered out of existence since Motohiko couldn't keep the spell going on for an extended period.

Both Erik and Motohiko looked at each other, one was breathing unevenly whereas the other person looked completely unaffected.

"Your flames are power, that dome was also interesting..."

Erik complemented Motohiko, acknowledging the ancient magic that he was using.

"Unfortunately, this is the end..."

"Hmmm?...."

Motohiko was confused by Erik's sudden declaration and decided to vocalize his thoughts.

"Why do you say that? You may be in better condition than me but you haven't won just yet...!"

Rather than replying to Motohiko's question, Erik just raised his hand in front of him, purple-coloured lightning coiled against his palm.

"I had you in checkmate from the start....."

Saying so, he pointed his finger towards the sky which seemed unusually dark.

Following his finger, Motohiko looked up and froze. His eyes widened as terror replaced the confidence in his eyes.

(At commentators)

"I have no idea what Erik is about to do!...."

"I don't understand why he is pointing towards the sky?....."

"Hmm....strange, I don't remember today raining...?"

(At spectator room)

"What is Erik doing, Mari?...."

"I have no idea, Mayumi....."

"Do you know something Juumonji-san?...."

"...Look at the sky."

(In the crowd)

"Hey! Is it going to rain?...."

"These clouds weren't there a minute ago! Strange....."

"Why have both of them stopped? What is going on?....."

"Look, Erik is pointing towards the sky!?..."

"Huh?..W-What i-is th-that....!!!"

(In the arena)

ℂ𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕜𝕝𝕖! (Crackle!)

From the dark clouds came a terrorizing roar, the sharp sound of thousand birds chirping echoed throughout the sky and a massive construct made out of pure lighting came into view as the clouds parted.

The massive construct resembled the holy creature Kirin in Japanese mythology, a legendary creature known for its vast power and holiness.

"[Kirin]..."

Announcing the name of his attack, Erik dropped his hand, controlling the magnificent creature to descend upon the enemy pillars.

Originally [Kirin] has enough power to destroy a small mountain but since this was just an event, Erik severely weakened its power and radius, so that it qualifies as an A-Rank spell.

Looking at the legendary creature, Motohiko lost all his will to compete. The sheer strength radiating from the incoming attack was terrifying.

Just as he was about to give up, he heard a voice enter his ears.

"DON'T GIVE UP ONI-SAN....!"

Yoshida Mikihiko, a slender, nervous-looking boy could be seen standing in the crowd, he gathered all of his confidence and shouted at the top of his lungs.

The young lad didn't want his brother to give up even without trying.

"HAAA!!!!..."

Motohiko let out a roar as dozens of talisman flew out of his sleeve, the previously used talisman also flew towards the sky forming an outline of a lion.

"I WILL NOT GIVE UP!...."

The talisman shone with intense purple-light, Motohiko put all of his psion inside his magic, going for an all-out attack, his last stand.

The lion formed by the ancient magic let out a blood-curdling roar as it moved straight towards the incoming Kirin.

"AAAHHHH...!!!!"

The lion and kirin were rapidly approaching each other, only a few yards away before they would collide.

(At the commentators)

"Oh my god! Both of their magic are about to collide!....."

"Holy Molly of Jesus Christ!..."

(At organizers)

"This one is going to be loud!...."

"Just how are both of them so powerful!...."

"The younger generation will indeed surpass the older one..."

Elder Kudou didn't join in on the discussion with the other organizers and kept looking at the two spells which were about to collide.

(Inside spectator)

"Oh my god! Someone may get hurt judging from the power both of these spells are radiating!...." (Mari)

"You are indeed right, Mari. I believe that both of these spells are ancient magic and I am concerned about Erik's safety since the side-effects of using power ancient magic are often dangerous....." (Mayumi)

"You are right, Mayumi. Judging from how his attack came to be, I don't think it is affecting him in any manner, even after using such a heavy spell, Erik seems totally unaffected....." (Mari)

"I want Erik to win but at this point, anything can happen, whoever has more force behind his attack, will win....." (Mari)

Katsuto refrained from joining in on the discussion as he had a feeling that something was about to happen, Erik wasn't the brute type, he was a master-strategist who preferred efficiency over everything.

(At arena)

Erik looked at Motohiko with a calm expression while the latter was channelling all his power it taking Kirin head-on.

He once again raised his hand near his chest.

'Plenty of potential, unfortunately as Elder Kudou said, magic isn't about power rather it is about efficiency..."

Erik snapped his finger once.

"[Dragon-Dive]..."

The huge Kirin construct before it could impact the incoming Lion, it divided into 12-bolts of thunder, dropping towards the 12-pillars on Motohiko's side while completely avoided the incoming Lion.

Everyone froze and stopped whatever they were doing as they witnessed the [Top 10-anime betrayals].

𝔹𝕠𝕠𝕞! (Boom!)

The 12-thunderbolts landed on the top of the pillars, demolishing each one of them in a single strike.

Erik drew natural lightning directly from thunder clouds to supplement the power of his strike and controlled it with [Convergence-Type].

Unlike most spells, which are based on the user's psion count, this one used the natural lightning. However, the preparation time required also decreases the technique's efficiency.

If there are no active thunder clouds, the user must create them by using powerful fire spells to produce the necessary storm conditions.

Which in this case was the hot steam which warmed the atmosphere and created a powerful rising air current, which in turn generated thunderclouds.

Once a lightning source has been acquired, shaping and guiding the lightning to the target requires very little psion.

Using this spell disperses the thunder clouds, and as such, it can only be used once in a fight. Conversely, however, because of the inextinguishable properties of magic such as [Nirvana-Flames], it can be used to continuously create new thunder clouds to use Kirin once again; however, the process seems to require a bit of time.

Basically, Erik tricked Motohiko into using all of his psion reserves while he simply divides the construct, losing nothing in-process and gaining easy victory.

Motohiko was also a participant of [Monolith Code], so in a way, Erik had not only physically but also mentally exhausted his opponent.
