Capítulo 20: Chapter 20
Sonic fell to the ground on his rear. It hurt a little, but he was more concerned with this new person he had met. As he looked up, he took in the stranger's appearance. A white gown that went down to the floor was the first thing he saw. Then, a neck with pale skin (though it was not nearly as pale or dead as the girl he had met before.) Vibrant, neatly kept brown hair fell down to just below their waist. And finally, a face with bright red cheeks. She had blue pupils and a cute little button nose. If Sonic had to guess, he'd say she was some sort of Overlander. But... she had five fingers... could she be a human?
"Who are you?" Sonic asked. His mouth was open slightly in awe as he stared up at her, keeping eye contact. He found it hard to look away from her.
She seemed to want to say something, but it seemed as if the cat got her tongue. She suddenly blurted out "S-SORRY!!!"
"What?!" Sonic exclaimed, shaking his head back and forth. He realized he had been lost in thought and ended up sitting on the ground too long. He jumped up in a ball with a BWOOP sound and landed on his feet. He had to bend his head backwards slightly to maintain eye contact with her. "Why should you feel sorry?"
"I... Are you saying you aren't startled?" The woman, who must have been at most in her late 20's, meeped, slightly turning away and hardly even looking at Sonic. She had the biggest blush on her face due to the intense embarrassment she was feeling. Sonic felt the awkwardness of the situation was crushing him, pulling his arms to the ground and making him feel wobbly in the knees. He tried to break the ice by appearing cool and calm.
"I never startle!" Sonic replied, in a bragging tone, though he did not mean to brag. It just kind of... came out that way.
"Oh, um... that's nice..." The woman twirled her finger around a strand of hair, making a knot of the strand. She looked back at Sonic. Neither knew quite what to say. "What brings you here, stranger?"
"Oh, that's right..." Sonic mumbled, hardly audible, even in the silence. He had nearly forgotten what he approached her to ask. "I was looking for my friend, he has-"
"Red dreadlocks, a pointy black nose, and really sharp knuckles," The two said in unison. So she had seen him.
"Hey, hey, you're pretty good!" Sonic chuckled, winking. What a coincidence! "Which way did he go?"
"I saw him crawling across the walls, he seemed to be in a hurry," The woman stated. She seemed completely perplexed as she said it. "It was very strange."
"Yeah, he does that," Sonic sighed, looking at the walls while swaying his arms side to side in no proper sync. Someone did punch holes in them. He had only one question. Why didn't she mention Knuckles' outstanding hat? It was a pretty useless and silly question, so he decided he wouldn't ask out loud. The woman still seemed a little shaken up. She was trembling slightly and had a bit of a nervous sweat.
