Capítulo 64: #64 Serious talk

"Can I ask why are you helping Sakura? Is there any special reason?" Ayanokoji asked a pretty weird question, at least from Yuichi's perspective.

"...She is a friend but in this case, I would most likely help anyone even if I didn't know them. I simply detest such things, and you can even say that I am doing it so I can feel better, that I do it for myself, knowing what can happen to Sakura while doing nothing would make me unable to fall asleep." Yuichi replied honestly and Ayanokoji could see it in his eyes and tone that he wasn't lying at all.

"I understand, thank you for explaining everything to me...despite wanting to know the reason why is there some kind of creep after Sakura, I won't ask further since it seems like it's not something you can just say aloud. I will be ready for any of your messages, in return, I hope you will keep what you saw that day to yourself." Ayanokoji said calmly while getting up to his feet. He sensed that Yuichi was overly confident while telling him that he saw him and Manabu exchange a few moves, he was aware that Yuichi was hiding something from him but he didn't sense any malice from him. One of Ayanokoji's issues right now was that Yuichi was the one who saw his fight and he was perfectly aware of how much this guy in front of him is trusted by their classmates.

"Heh, don't you worry, Ayanokoji-kun. I am not as ambitious as Horikita-san, I have no reason to ruin your quiet school life. To be honest, I would categorize myself somewhere between you and Horikita-san" Yuichi snickered and then said with a faint smile.

Upon hearing his words, Ayanokoji raised his eyebrow in a question.

"Ayanokoji-kun, do you think there only exist ambitious and ambitionless people? I mean, I believe that there is something like being ambitious or ambitionless only partly. Ambitions can be easily associated with greed and then it also gets tangled with morals and etc. The main thing I mean to say is that it depends on how many percent you are ambitious or ambitionless. For example, I think that Horikita-san is from 75% ambitious which makes me believe that she wouldn't cross any major lines in her morals to reach her goals. I would categorize myself right in the middle, do you know what would that mean?"

"..." Ayanokoji didn't answer to him as he felt that it was a rhetorical question but he understood why he was telling him all of this.

"50% ambitious, 50% ambitionless. Going with the flow, trying to achieve something on the way without trying too hard. Just seeking amusement." Yuichi said with a faint smile before he went towards the door to open them for Ayanokoji.

"I see...you have certainly interesting thoughts, Iwamura. As I said before, I will try my best to help, farewell." Ayanokoji followed Yuichi to the door and as he replied, he stepped out of Yuichi's room.

'He is not asking me where I would categorize him? Interesting...' Yuichi thought before wishing him good night and closing the door.

The next day, Yuichi found Sakura sitting at her seat in the classroom while looking down at her desk with a thoughtful expression but he could see that her everyday gloominess was slightly suppressed.

When their eyes met while Yuichi was still in the doorway, he smiled at her, not trying to force her to talk in front of other people, however, when he passed by her to get to his seat, she actually greeted him in a low voice.

"Good morning..."

Yuichi stopped and turned at SAkura with a surprised expression which caused her to look down with flushed cheeks.

"Good morning" Yuichi replied in that same kind with a faint smile before approaching his seat.

After the first class was over, Yuichi stood up and approached Horikita's seat, putting a stack of papers down right next to her textbooks which caused her to raise her head and look at him with a questioning gaze.

"These are from Ichinose-san, you can use these as a help with Sudo's case." Yuichi explained before turning around to return to his seat.

"Wait!" However before he could take a step forward, Horikita interrupted him.

"What is it?" Yuichi asked without turning around at her.

"...How did you get this? I doubt Ichinose-san would have been able to gather so much information in such a short time, after all, it has been only a few days since other classes got to know about this incident." Horikita asked suspiciously.

"...I don't know, ask her yourself." Yuichi replied without looking at her and returned to his seat.

Horikita threw a last glance towards Yuichi before she started reading through the papers he just gave her.

During the lunch break of the same day, Kushida approached the vicinity of Horikita, Ayanokoji, and Yuichi's seats. She enthusiastically explained how Sakura agreed to help them with Sudo's case.

"If I am not mistaken, you and Kushida-san were together with Sakura-san the last Sunday, right?" Horikita asked while looking at Yuichi with a composed expression.

"Yeah, there was also Mii-chan with us" Kushida replied in his stead with even more enthusiasm as if she was trying to make Horikita jealous.

"...Then we should go report this to Chabashira-sensei as fast as possible, the longer we will wait, the harder it will be for the school to believe that Sakura-san is a witness." Horikita was observing Yuichi's expression for a while before she closed her eyes and said with a calm tone.

"Sakura-san said, she will be waiting in front of the Staffroom." Kushida revealed.

While Kushida and Horikita were talking and Yuichi mostly listening, Ayanokoji got up from his seat and grabbed his school bag.

"Where are you going, Ayanokoji-kun?" Kushida asked with a confused expression.

"To the dorms, if it's just about reporting this to the sensei, there is no need for the presence of so many people" Ayanokoji said calmly.

"Hmm, are you sure you don't want to go with us?" Kushida tried to persuade him but he just shook his head before leaving the classroom.

Truth be told, Yuichi also wanted to go to the gym for his club activities but he knew that leaving Sakura alone with Horikita and Kushida might not be the ideal situation.

So they went towards the Staffroom where they met up with Sakura who shyly greeted them. Horikita on the other hand observed Sakura for a while, making her look downward and after a while, Horikita approached Sakura and apologized for the previous misunderstanding, completely shocking Kushida.

Horikita didn't wait for others to recover from the shock or for Sakura to reply to her apology and she simply knocked on the door.

When they got permission, they opened the door and walked in, getting greeted by their homeroom teacher.

"So, what is this about?" Chabashira was slightly confused by their odd group.

Kushida explained the situation with Sakura however Chabashira was quite a skeptic about it and started questioning Sakura's choices, for example why she didn't testify when they were asked if anyone witnessed the incident.

Sakura had some problems wording out her thoughts so Kushida wanted to help her however Yuichi placed his hand on her shoulder and shook his head to stop her. He knew that Sakura can't be spoiled and she simply has to go through some "suffering" to stop being so nervous. If she can't explain herself even to her own homeroom teacher, she is probably lost cause. Although Yuichi was aware of how much pressure Chabashira was putting on Sakura, he also knew that she wanted to help her this way.

Sakura was somehow able to explain what happened that day and why she was there but she never mentioned that she has clear evidence...most likely to be able to back out of it at the last moment in case she wouldn't have enough courage.

"*sigh* I understand...I will report this to the school so you can attend Sudo's hearing as a witness, however, I must warn you that the words aren't enough at this point. Do you understand that?" Chabashira accepted Sakura's explanation but she didn't sound exactly convinced.

Upon hearing this, Sakura paled a bit, thinking that she would have to sit alone with Sudo during the deliberation. She glanced at Yuichi as if to call for help.

"Can we also participate?" Kushida was a bit faster than Yuichi but even after she asked this question, Sakura was still looking at Yuichi for his help.

Chabashira nodded her head and confirmed that as long as they have Sudo's approval, 2 other people can attend this deliberation. Of course, the witness is another matter.

"Think about it carefully, as long as you have a people with good communication skills sitting there during the deliberation, you might even be able to slightly lessen the punishment" Chabashira said.

"That's cruel...where is any of sensei's trust in us? I don't think any of us or Sudo-kun would be delighted with only "lessened punishment"" Yuichi said playfully as he shrugged his shoulders.

"That's right! Sudo-kun is innocent, there is no need for him to receive any kind of punishment." Kushida enthusiastically nodded her head.
