"Guys, I will go talk to Hirata and try to convince him to help me persuade other students not to slack off." Yuichi stood up wit the tray in his hands while glancing at the group sitting at a faraway table.
"Mm" Both nodded their heads before silence overcame the place.
Yuichi left to return the tray and then he went straight to Hirata's group.
"Hi, I am sorry for interrupting but can I borrow Yosuke-kun here for a moment?" Yuichi interrupted their discussion with an apologetic smile.
The girls who were focusing on Hirata were a bit irritated by the sudden interruption but when they turned around and saw that it was Yuichi, they couldn't be angry after seeing his apologetic smile.
"Iwamura-kun, you can just join us! You are more than welcomed here!" A girl of average height with waist-length blonde hair tied in a ponytail and purple eyes said with a welcoming smile while sitting next to Hirata.
"Karuizawa-san, I appreciate your invitation but I wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable-"
"Not at all, just sit down here with us" Hirata said with closed eyes and bright smile however to Yuichi it looked more like a call for help.
While Karuizawa looked slightly surprised that Yuichi actually remembered her name already, other girls also nodded their heads with an inviting smile.
'Well, whatever...' Yuichi thought, dropping the intention to speak with Hirata alone.
"Alright, if no one minds it...Excuse me" Yuichi said as he sat down opposite to Karuizawa and next to a girl with neck-length blue hair and a pink hairclip.
"Yuichi-kun, have you heard the earlier announcement?" Hirata immediately started the conversation, trying to direct a bit of attention to Yuichi.
Yuichi just nodded his head with a faint smile.
"Do you want to go together? Are you already aware which club you will join, that is if you will join any." Hirata asked with a friendly smile.
"Yeah, we can all go together after school, it will be fun!" Karuizawa said, throwing her expectations at Yuichi with her pleading look.
"Well, I don't see any problem going together however I want to invite one more person if you don't mind. As for which club I will be joining...most likely basketball but I will try to consult the matter of joining 2 clubs at once with Chabashira-sensei." Yuichi replied with a smile at Karuizawa before turning to Hirata.
"That won't be a problem at all! Although I am slightly disappointed that Yuichi-kun chose the basketball club, I pray that your talk with Sensei will go well. Just don't overwork yourself, Senior High school is completely different from Junior High school." Hirata said with a slightly sad smile before turning cheerful once again.
"Anyway, I am sorry for interrupting you like that. You wanted to talk to me about something, Yuichi-kun, right?" Hirata asked with a bit embarrassed smile.
"Yes, you see..." Yuichi tried to explain the situation and his intention to stop most of students from slacking off.
.
.
"Eh? I see...however, I don't think it's good to force anyone to do anything they don't want to. We might be able to change the mind of a few people but not everyone will listen to us..." Hirata replied with a slight understanding expression while girls appeared a bit confused by Yuichi's intentions.
"Well, I am not trying to ask for impossible so just changing the mind of a few people would be great. Also, I recommend you not to spend your points carelessly, this matter might be also related to the one I just talked about." Yuichi explained before shrugging his shoulders.
The girls were once again confused by his words since some of them already spent some of their points on new clothes.
"I understand, I will try to help and warn others however we won't be very persuasive if we won't have any evidence or reason why we want them to listen to our requests. Thank you for telling us everything, Yuichi-kun, you are truly kind." Hirata nodded his head with a determined expression.
'That's fine, I never expected everyone to listen and I told you mostly to prevent most students from spending all their points. It would be troublesome if everyone came to me, begging me to lend them some points.' Yuichi coldly thought while giving Hirata and girls a small nod with a humble smile.
"Actually, I am just doing work for somebody else by telling you this" Yuichi said, hinting that not everything was his idea.
In truth, Yuichi couldn't care any less for people he just met yesterday, he only had his own and Mei's well being in his mind, for now, that is.
Yuichi spent the rest of the lunch break with Hirata's group before going back to the classroom.
Once the classes had ended for today, Yuichi went to ask Mei if she doesn't want to join him and Hirata's group. She naturally joined and all of them went towards the Gymnasium No. 1.
.
.
"There is quite a lot of people, more than I thought it would be" Hirata muttered while looking around inside the gymnasium filled with more than a hundred students. Nearly all freshmen attended this event even though they weren't obligated to do so.
"A lot of members of these athletic types of clubs look all serious. I bet most of the freshmen will end up as benchwarmers, so-called phantoms of the club." One boy standing near the group said, everyone ignored his words but Yuichi was able to recognize that voice.
Yuichi looked to his left as Mei did the same just to notice Ayanokoji and Horikita together.
"Yosuke-kun, excuse me for a moment, I need to go talk to someone." Yuichi said in low voice to Hirata who also noticed Horikita and Ayanokoji.
"I see, don't you want to invite them to join us?" Hirata asked with a pleading look.
"I doubt either of them accepts this, especially Horikita-san." Yuichi shook his head with a helpless expression.
"Alright, say my thanks to Horikita-san for not keeping all that information to herself and actually sharing it with others." Hirata nodded his head with a faint smile, ready to face all those girls all alone once more.
Yuichi nodded his head and went together with Mei to stand nearer to the pair.
"Hey you two, I see you are getting along more than you make it sound with your words." Yuichi called out to them, his words especially aimed at Horikita. Both of them turned at him with a slightly surprised expression before Horikita's expression changed to one of the disgust.
"Maybe you are only one making it sound more than it is." Horikita said with uncomfortable expression, slightly distorted in disgust.
"*sigh* I get that we are not friends but could you tone down that rudeness of yours?" Ayanokoji sighed and refuted Horikita's words with both his hands in his pockets.
"Impossible" Horikita closed her eyes and replied with only 1 word.
"Thank you all for waiting, first-year students. We will now begin the club fair. A representative of each club will explain their functions and what you can expect from joining them. My name is Tachibana, the student council secretary, and currently the club fair's organizer" A girl of average height with purple hair tied in two buns with bangs hanging over her eyebrows announced with a calm expression.
Therefore, the club fair began and the first one to step up onto the stage was the girl dressed in archery gear. She gave a quick speech and explanation why consider joining the Archery club before stepping down from the stage and leaving the space for others to shine.
Yuichi was mostly talking with Mei however he sometimes couldn't help but comment on those 2 firing at each other with sharp words, debating like little children without a stop.
"Are you two sure that you haven't known each other before attending this school?" Yuichi asked with a strange expression and Mei followed his example, looking at Ayanokoji and Horikita with a particular expression.
"Positively" Horikita replied first and Ayanokoji just nodded his head.
"Ayanokoji-kun, if you will always reply by body language, other people will perceive it as you being rude. If you want to make friends, at least try to use your vocal cords." Horikita said.
"Ugh, Iwamura-kun, are you planning to join any club?" Ayanokoji decided to ignore Horikita's sharp words.
"Yes, I have already played during my Junior High so joining one now makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't want that time of training waste away. As for making friends...I think you are thinking about it too much, Ayanokoji-kun."
"Hm?" Ayanokoji raised his eyebrow in response to my words.
"He means that staying alone isn't that bad if you can't make any friends." Horikita said with a smirk.
"Not exactly, you actually can't "make" friends. It simply happens. Ayanokoji-kun, have you ever been in a relationship with the opposite gender?" Yuichi asked with a smile. He was aware that his question was quite rude but he was also slightly aware of Ayanokoji's personality and Yuichi knew that he wouldn't mind.
"Um, no..." Ayanokoji replied, glancing at Horikita but this time, even she fell silent and rather just ignored their conversation while looking towards the stage.
"Me neither~!" Yuichi replied shortly with a cheerful smile while shrugging his shoulders.
"?" Ayanokoji looked at him with a bit surprised expression and even Horikita glanced at him with an intrigued look in her eyes.
'But you could have...liar' Mei thought while glaring at Yuichi, recalling that confession behind the school building.
