 The Doctor was surprised as he had never seen anything, he said 

every muscle in his body had taken a better shape, a better reformation for movement. Normally all muscles are created to follow a particular pattern but it's like a better pattern was introduced and all his muscles had taken a form to suit this new pattern. 

 Hlofgar was not particularly surprised but he was still intrigued hearing the analysis of the doctor and he felt proud.
