Capítulo 117: CHPT 117: Again Walkers

After Claude killed the Moose, he pulled it further up the mountain— to keep heading north. The creature was so heavy that he needed help from

the pack and even then, they barely made it to the top. The incredible challenge of strength made him think of how much help Frosty would be in this situation.

Once they reached the top—breathing heavily with sore overworked muscles, they found themselves in a forest that changed from the usual trees he'd seen to tall column-like pine trees coated in snow.

The view and feeling of cool droplets melting on his hot skin reminded him that he was almost completely naked.

He looked down at himself— expecting to see a blue skinned frost bitten body. Instead all he saw was tiny flecks of melted snow on his chest and scarred— partially transformed, arms. When he looked closely he could see steam coming off his skin like he just left a sauna.

"Hm. Maybe temperature affects me differently in here." He thought before finding a place for him and the pack to sit and eat.

He spent another twenty minutes finding a tree with a wide enough berth to allow them all to sit on snowless ground around a fire. The large pine tree that fit the description was near a drop off that turned into another steep hill, heading down for a quarter mile or so.

Before he had a chance to look out and see if there was something other than more forests ahead, he heard Ashe nipping at the other Wolves who's hunger was beginning to get the best of them.

"Alright, alright. I'm coming." He said before turning back to the pack.

An hour later and Claude sat criss crossed facing a fire with a large Moose pelt hanging over his back and arms like an oversized cloak— that was surprisingly heavy. The pelt felt warm and slightly stiff from being held over the fire which completely negated the snow and cool winds.

In the distance, the Phantom Wolves fought for which parts of the head and midsection they got to eat while Claude ate away at a brutally ripped fatty tenderloin from the Moose. He cooked it until it became a dark and dry chunk of horrid tasting meat. His sharpened teeth helped him tear through it and quickly move on to the thick rib he took before the Wolves mindlessly tore into the rest.

He watched the six Wolves happily eat away at the carcass for a while— in fact he watched until they all finished and began heading over to sleep near him and the fire.

He found himself eyeing Shadow, remembering when he was viciously stabbed by a Buck only to be healed by a single piece of meat. It really put into perspective how strong these Wolves were.

"You guys would be a problem in the real world." He thought jokingly.

After the pack had fallen into a food coma scattered around him amidst the quiet snowfall, he got up and headed back to the edge of the drop off up ahead.

It was so steep that he could look over the top of the forest at the bottom which included something he didn't expect to see farther north.

A giant expanse of white snow packed the ground and spread in all directions for at least a mile, leading to what looked like a collection of beautiful mountains in the distance.

"Wow..." was all he could say from the top of the forest.

He was snapped out of mindlessly viewing the dark winter view when tiny moving dots slowly traversed the snow covered clearing outside the forest.

In an almost casual manner, Claude looked up and found a medium sized big yellow eyed nocturnal Hawk looking down at him.

"Come here please." He said while activating (Beast Trait), with his arm held out.

His eyes glowed green and mimicked the shape of the Hawk that swiftly landed on his shoulder as he zeroed in on the black specs in the clearing.

With his new increased vision, the black specs gained shape and detail as if they stood much closer than they actually were.

He felt himself becoming uncomfortable as he looked at them.

Humanoid in shape with an unnatural walk that they used to aimlessly occupy the white expanse. Some had armor with broken horned helmets or thick black armor covering grey skinned thin limbs.

Others were almost completely naked with a weird blue and black smoke emanating from their slack jawed mouths.

The one thing they all had in common were the same stale and lifeless glowing blue eyes that stood out in the night like demented lanterns.

One thing came to mind from his readings on Norse Mythology as he looked at them.

"Draugr...."

After a few seconds he let the bird free and his vision faded back to normal, he noticed Ashe stood a little behind him with an interested look on her face.

Claude spoke to her as they both headed back to the rest of the pack around the fire.

"Tomorrow night's going to be a challenge."
