Capítulo 37: Final Exams, The Second Part

45 minute mark.

The proctor had red eyes from staring at Lan Xiang too much. How long has it been since he blinked?

Maybe... 10 minutes ago?

With a sigh, he closed his eyelids, tears dripping from the bottom of his eyes.

He looked at his watch and stood up.

"Time's up! All of you, hold up your pens and pass your papers in front."

The students giggled, for they all had finished the test long ago. Teamwork really was reliable!

The proctor expected a bunch of frustrated replies like "Ah, I almost finished the test, wait!" and "Just one more minute, sir!".

To which he could reply, "You already had your 45 minutes, please pass the paper in front already," gloating at the student's misery.

Surprisingly, all of the students had no qualms in passing the paper to the person in front of them, the proctor collecting the papers in no time.

"...Huh. Okay then, the exams will continue after a 1-hour break. You're dismissed."

As soon as the proctor said that, he left the classroom with the papers. Almost all of the students stood up immediately when he closed the door behind him.

Lan Xiang continued sleeping, as a result of his overnight cultivation. He had no idea just how strong his cousin might be, evident by how beaten up his sister was.

In any case, he needed to prepare himself with all his might. With his anger fueling him, he had already pulled all-nighters for close to a full week.

The four girls stood up and surrounded Lan Xiang immediately.

"Xiang! All of your studying methods worked! I actually felt the test was too easy!" Zhang Xiaoqin was the most excited. She had always struggled with the academic part of school, but now, with Lan Xiang's help, she was pretty confident that she could ace the test she just took, as well as every other test.

Ye Qingle patted Lan Xiang on the shoulder, not saying a word. With his help, she didn't need to use her cultivation to... cheat anymore.

Ren Weiwei and Lu Xifa also commented that they found the test "easier than usual" to which Zhang Xiaoqin glared at them in response.

Lan Xiang gave a thumbs up to all of them, too tired to form an actual response.

Soon enough, the hour passed by quite easily.

The proctor was back with another stack of papers, clean of the answers that the students worked hard for earlier.

"Bla, bla, you know the drill..."

Lan Xiang received his test paper and wanted to finish it immediately, if possible, faster than before. He took a look at the subject: History.

"Oh, dear Gods have mercy on me."

This was the subject he was the worst at! At this rate, it would take him thirty minutes instead of the usual twenty to finish this test! What's worse was that, unlike in other subjects, he couldn't ensure that he would get perfect marks on the test. He might get... one mistake! How unfortunate...

Resigned to his fate, a forlorn expression appeared on Lan Xiang's face. He sighed as he started writing his name on the paper.

His sudden change in facial expression surprised the proctor, who had been closely monitoring Lan Xiang like before.

"Hm, seems like he really got disheartened when he saw this set of questions. He might get a 0 on this test!"

The prospect of Lan Xiang getting a zero excited the proctor. "This does... put a smile on my face."

On the other hand, confidence surged through Ren Weiwei as she saw the subject. History was her best subject!

It was possible that she could get an almost perfect score in this test! Only about ten mistakes out of a hundred was Ren Weiwei's goal.

She looked at Lan Xiang, who coincidentally scratched the back of his head at that moment. "Seems like he's having a hard time."

Ren Weiwei could still remember that about four months ago, Lan Xiang always struggled in every test that he took. When he had an especially hard time, he would scratch his head then lean back with an angle of about 78 degrees with the floor and his back as the sides, after which he would put both hands behind his head as he tried to balance his pen on his upper lip. That specific sequence of events happened every time. No, it wasn't because Ren Weiwei was so enamored with him that she watched his every move...

Ren Weiwei continued watching to see if Lan Xiang continued his habit.

Lan Xiang creased his eyebrows as he pushed himself with his feet, the chair leaning backwards. After that, he placed a pen on his upper lip and balanced it there, both his hands behind his head.

"Ah, he did it again..."

Ren Weiwei subconsciously smiled as she watched Lan Xiang.

At that point, Lan Xiang felt another set of eyes attached on him. He shivered one more time.

On the thirty minute mark, Lan Xiang bound his head to his desk and glued his eyelids closed. At least, it seemed like he did so, to Ren Weiwei.

Leaning on her hand, Ren Weiwei felt sorry. "He must be extremely tired from all that he's been doing."

On the thirty-five minute mark, Ren Weiwei widened her eyes. She got so entranced in watching Lan Xiang that she forgot to answer the test!!

She looked at her papers. They were almost blank.

Biting her lip, she started writing her answers as fast as she could.

"5 minutes left, hurry up."

Sweat covered Ren Weiwei's forehead. She wasn't even halfway through the test! Her hand speed suddenly went god mode and her brain's processing power accelerated. Her entire focus all pointed to one thing: finish the test!

Activating adrenaline mode...!

Ye Qingle sighed in relief as she finished checking her answers. She was confident that she would get a score of at the very least 80. As per usual, she glanced across the classroom to gloat on those who hadn't finished yet.

"...Weiwei? On history, no less."

The sight of Ren Weiwei rushing to finish a test shocked Ye Qingle. In her two months being classmates with Ren Weiwei, she never witnessed this until now.

Ye Qingle wasn't in the mood to gloat anymore. After some contemplation, she sighed and snapped her fingers.

After thirty or so minutes, Ren Weiwei finally finished the test. She glanced at the clock. "How many minutes did that take? How many minutes are left? Wait... there are still five minutes left? And the clock isn't moving..."

After hearing a snapping sound, the tick of the moving clock snapped Ren Weiwei out of her daze.

"Huh. Seems like teacher only said there was 5 minutes left to scare the students. What a relief...!"
