So weird to be back in my old room, with the windows overlooking the yard, the park beyond the line of bushes, the sounds and smells of Wilding Springs just as I remembered them and yet utterly different.

It felt off, a disconnect between how it was and how it turned out to be and I realized quickly, sitting on the edge of my bed with the sparkly pink chandelier overhead and the fluffy pillow clutched in my lap that it would never feel the same again. Not without access to the magic that tied me to my family.

I could hear everyone still chatting downstairs, Damon and Stella accepting a room at Sassafras's house, though I wondered how Jiao would feel about the two sorcerers moving in with her and the kids. I had to get in touch with Piers and should probably let Dad know I was okay, though he had made zero attempt of his own, so I guess I was fine with letting him hang for a bit. Or let Mom deal with it.
