Capítulo 31: Disturbed at the ship

While Akane and Ban were on their way to the castle, guided by the creepy okama's, Lafitte spent his day quite relaxed.

He would organise the mapping room, read throught the many books Akane had procured for him and made an inventory list of the supplies on board of the ship. Fortunately they had been able to stock up enough food and water to last them for up to two months.

They also had enough clothes and they weren't short on money, thanks to the many pirates they came across. There wasn't a shortage of bounty hunter either, now that the wanted posters had been distributed.

Finishing with the last check-ups, Laffitte went up the deck, making sure everything was as it should be and the anchor was firmly secured.

After everything was in order, Laffitte went to the captain's cabin to enjoy the last book he was currently reading. The thought of Ban's anguish brought a smile to Laffitte's face as he could still remember the rumors he had heard from this place.

It was when he was still part of the sheriff's office. A few ships from the marines had set out to search for a missing merchant ship that was presumed to smuggle weapons.

The ones that had been sent to investigate came back a week later, looking all pale. Whenever someone asked what happened, they would become as white as a sheet. When they finally spoke of the nightmarish island, Laffitte could only congratulate the poor souls for having that kind of bad luck.

Yet now.

It seems like he had even worse luck as he was currently in a crew that was stuck on this awful island. Only imagining those man-woman chasing him made him nauseous. Their intentions were as bright as day and Laffitte sought no part of it.

Sitting down, Laffitte started to read his book again, yet a faint creaking sound kept him from immersing himself in his book.

Feeling something amiss, Laffitte put away his book and went outside. What he saw made shivers run down his spine. From the shore he could see a whole crowd of those queers from the stories. Even at the helm and bow of the ship were a couple of queers.

"Aww, Carol-sama said there was a candy here?"

"I don't see him."

"Carol-sama is always right."

"He must be here."

"Let's look, shall we~"

Laffitte's eyebrows twitched at the horrifying scene playing out in front of him. He didn't join the rest to avoid something like this. Why did they have to come here. Laffitte went back inside, planning a way out and regroup with Akane. Though he was supposed to watch the ship, He wasn't planning to stay here and be ravaged by them. He didn't have a problem with queers, but people who tried to change others to their tastes was way to much, even for him.

He might not look like a man, but he most certainly was one and he wasn't planning to wear a dress and doll himself up to look like a woman, thank you very much.

Activating his stealth, Lafitte made his way out, careful to keep a fair distance from those people. Though he was as good as invisible to their eyes, who knows what kind of ways they had to find him. Just when he was about the jump down the ship, the worst happened.

"What do I smell?"

"You smell something?"

"I smell a man."

"You do? The Carol-sama was right!"

"Let's find the candy, my fellow candies."

With one queer in front, they closed in on Lafitte's position.

"You can't be serious, right? Are they dogs or something?" Lafitte thought, his arms changing into wings as he took to the sky. With every beat of his wings he gained attitude.

"I lost it."

"He's gone."

"Awww, a shame for the dress."

"I got some perfume and make-up."

"Let's continue looking."

The conversation of his persuers became faint as Lafitte made his way to the Kamabakka kingdom. There shouldn't be even more of those dog-like man-woman there, hopefully.

Late at night, Akane could hear a slight disturbance in the castle. The ground shook with every person that passed by the door, a squeal like laughter and excited screams were heard.

Ban seemed to hear it as well as he burried his head further under the covers. His body seemed to scream, I don't want to know, nor do I care.

Akane sighed, opening the door outside slightly to see what was going on. The scene seemed to be a re-enactment of what happened this afternoon when Ban came here. Having a faint suspicion to who it might be, Akane put a sign on the door with her and Ban's name on it, in case it was him.

Not even ten minutes late, the lean and tall figure of Lafitte came inside. His eyes roamed across the room and were visibly relieved when he only saw Akane and Ban.

"Captain."

Lafitte said as he lowered himself on the couch.

"Been ambushed on the ship I presume." Ban murmured from beneath the covers.

"More like overrun."

Lafitte responded.

"Nothing to do about it. Carol should secure the ship for us, in case another ship comes by. I'll talk with her about it while you two should take some rest. Tomorrow will be very unpleasant for both of you." Akane said as she left the room.

Both Lafitte and Ban visibly deflated as they imagined what tomorrow would look like.

"I suggest sticking close to Akane. She's a very decent shield."

Ban advised, not planing to leave her side the whole time they were staying here.

"Thanks for the advice."

Lafitte slumped down on the couch, fishing out the unfinished book he had been reading on the ship. Though it had been quite hectic, he and the book had escaped the ship and regrouped with Ban and Akane unharmed.

"I'm going to sleep as much as I can. I case I need to run tomorrow. Something tells me they have infinite stamina." Ban mumbled, glancing shortly at Lafitte before closing his eyes and falling asleep.

"A wise decision." Lafitte replied as the only sound there after was the sound of flipping pages.
