Capítulo 42: Chapter 41

I always understood the implications of changing events or at least I thought I did. The butterfly effect describes the cause and effect relationship between seemingly unrelated events. It's one thing to conceptual understand changes in the 'past' can make huge differences and another thing altogether to actively experience it. Me punching Kurogiri was an unexpectedly huge butterfly. I knew he was important, but Kurogiri switching sides and becoming Loud Cloud rewrote the entire future for the My Hero academia world.

Shirakumo Oboro had the right personality and disposition to be a hero. He was upbeat, compassionate, and tenacious. The only thing from stopping him from being one of the greats was his relatively weak quirk. Then he was captured and given an additional quirk which was exceptionally compatible with his original quirk. All for One wanted him to retain his intelligence and become his right-hand man/ first lieutenant but couldn't trust an intelligent nomu created from a person he kidnapped so he installed a mind control harness and chip. With the mind control broken his original mind was back and he could now use his quirk more freely. Kurogiri hadn't been allowed to go fully incorporeal, because it would remove the control system. Now Loud Cloud is never more than partially corporeal. With his mind, free Loud Cloud could teleport faster, pick destination easier, and was generally more creative. So, the only thing that had held him back was his quirk, but his quirk now was easily one of the strongest in Japan. He could now move to places in an instant, cut or teleport people without them knowing, become invisible by dispersing his smokebody, and was largely immune to physical attacks.

I wasn't told a lot directly, but I knew more then the people around me thought. From some of the coded conversations they were having I was able to glean bits and pieces of news. From that and what they did tell me I got a pretty good idea of what was going on. Heroes and Villans existed in a sort of shaky balance. The Heroes are part of the public and given a legal support system. They are better trained. However, they are held to the standard of public opinion and their quirks and techniques are well known. Villains have to hide, they lack the societal benefits and legal support, and for the most part, have had worse training. However, they're hard to find and root out, and when they're found their abilities are unknown. Loud Cloud changed that. All for One had him manage his own organization as well as spy on his competitors. No hero had infiltrated that deep into a criminal organization before. The villains had been planning on breaking the balance by going public, instigating more organization, and developing legal resources. The heroes flipped the balance before the villains we're ready. The heroes and police targeted bases, hideouts, safehouses, and legal fronts. The government was doing it as quickly and silently as possible, but it couldn't stay quiet once CEOs and elected officials were being arrested. The jig was up. The League of Villains was no longer in a place to publicly out themselves. They need to hit the ground, hide, and start rebuilding.

I don't know what happened to All for One he might still be out there. I can say for sure there was no great battle. I would say that him being alive is one of the worst effects of me being here. Shigaraki never escaped prison. Apparently, him being a psychological weapon against your nemesis didn't make up for setting plans back decades, because All for One never came to his rescue. Many other members or future members of the League of Villains were eventually caught, however, others successfully went into hiding.

The Yakuza made a surprising mild resurgence. I had no idea how until years later. The government had introduced a punishment where a person's quirk would be removed. I guess Overhall's offer for an anti quirk weapon would allow a certain amount of things to be overlooked. It makes sense too. Crime is inevitable so would I rather it be homegrown terrorists like the League of Villains or the Yakuza well to me it seems like an easy choice.

Originally, the students of UA's hero course and the people of Japan would face times of increasing danger and chaos. Then Loud Cloud happened and everyone was given at least a few more years of peace. Those years of peace gave the students of UA time to grow. Some people grow better from adversity, but there is something to be said about a stable learning environment. When we graduated, our graduating class led Japan in a new era of society. Gone were the days of a single pillar protecting the world from darkness. It was now the age of heroes. The beliefs and laws of society being protected by countless shining beacons. Our graduating class was an anomaly, filled with such an astonishing amount of talent that of the top 50 heroes 30 would be from this graduating class.

Midoriya would unlock the full power of One for All and surpass All Might as number one hero. Bakugou would see history repeat itself by becoming the unlikeable, but talented second fiddle to the number one hero. My silent calls for therapy were happily unneeded as the challenges of UA helped him mellow out a little. Todoroki had some help getting over his family issues and then freely used his powers as the hero Icy-Hot. Ilda would go on to take up the family hero mantle as Ingenium. Uraraka would become a widely successful hero letting her pay for her parent's early retirement. Mineta would eventually feel embarrassed about his behavior and go on to become a rescue hero focused on domestic abuse. Hahahahah just kidding he was a creep until the end.

As for me, What was supposed to be a one-time internship turned into a sort of apprenticeship under Loud Cloud. I was already pretty prominent in combat which was good because there was very little overlap in our styles. However, he had previously had a fair amount of experience incorporating tools into combat styles, and now also had a mastery of stealth operations. Both of which were areas I needed help with. His rising popularity and my position as his sidekick while I was a student gave me a good launching platform for my hero career. The public still questioned my ability and sometimes just hated me. I eventually was able to market myself to quirkless and weak quirk people who saw me as an inspiration. People with strong quirks still loathe or pity me, but even so, I eventually silenced my critics and broke into the top 10 heroes. Well based on popularity, not ability, the top ten in ability was getting pretty ridiculous. Whereas my own ability grew slowly. My physical abilities maxed out around 150% of body abilities. I couldn't figure out how to further evolve my danger sense so it stagnated at the level of predicting bullets. The only thing I never stopped getting better at was technique, whether it was martial arts, weapons, or stealth I was always making some progress.

After I graduated I quit my job at SetCo, but I also became one of their largest clients. My friendship with Yumi is the one I'll miss the most, and if it wasn't for Ruin I would have asked her to come with. But I knew I couldn't bring anyone here with me and so to keep the leaving less painful I kept my distance from people, careful to not get too attached. This attitude didn't stop me from wanting to avenge my parents. So, after I graduated I launched a year-long smear campaign dragging Endeavour's name through the mud with his every miss deed. Todorkoi had been been a great help in gathering evidence even if most of the proof was flimsy at best, but all of it added up and painted an ugly picture. It culminated in a family fight between Dabi and Endeavour. Which revealed the now infamous terrorist as his son. The fight was short but had caused tremendous collateral damage. Dabi had died in the fight leaving Endeavour the only person to blame. Normally he would have been fine because this time most of the damage wasn't his fault, but the smear campaign had worked and people blamed him. Endeavor became the first person sentenced to permanent quirk erasure in addition to years in prison. He has to spend the rest of his life knowing his hopes, dreams, and legacy have been completely destroyed. It took longer than I had wanted and maybe not as painful as I had hoped 7/10 revenge.
