In fact, she hadn't heard anything from him at all. All that she knew came from Beta Isiah, Nina's father who after coming back from the former Luna's funeral had informed her of the new developments in the Lang pack. Apparently, Zack was busy taking over his grandfather's pack, and hence according to the beta's speculation would take some time to return home. Meanwhile, the man offered his help to her for managing things on the Island. 

Though at first, she felt sad that he didn't even bother to write to her, she had plugged her feelings and had actively taken up all kinds of responsibilities to keep the Island community afloat. As they passed the tall green trees of the forest, she sighed, her heart heavy with a disturbing feeling that had settled over her chest since the incident.

"Don't worry," Nina said, putting her legs up on the dashboard casually. "He could just be busy with taking over the Lang pack."
