Cody took a deep breath before continuing. Telling Karli all of this was taking a lot out of him. He had never talked about this before outside of therapy, even with his friends who had been there with him. There hadn't been a need to discuss it since they were all trying to forget.

"We later found out that One—who we all were told was dead—had run away when he was fifteen and he was the one who helped Claire. That was Ray. I don't know exactly how he got involved but I think it had something to do with the fact that he worked with her.

"Anyway, Alex was sent to kill her again once he was wiped clean and she somehow managed to get him back. I think she probably got Steve to help with that but I can't be sure. After that they decided they wanted to get the rest of us out too.
