Cody sat down on the sidewalk with his head on his knees and cried for the first time in his life. He hated them so much but he hated himself too.
Everyone else was doing great so why wasn't he? They were all moving on with their lives perfectly fine. He wasn't supposed to be ruled by emotion. He was the logical one, wasn't he? What was wrong with him?
His phone buzzed again—probably Karli—and he shut the stupid thing off so he wouldn't have to feel it. He sat there for an indeterminate amount of time before a security guard came by and demanded to know what he was doing there.
Rather than answer, Cody sped off again and found a nearby rooftop to continue crying on. Nobody should bother him that high up.
He didn't bother to turn his phone back on so he didn't see what time he got home until the small green numbers on the microwave mocked him in the dark. 3:02 AM. Karli had to be asleep by now considering how dark it was.
