"That's smart," Ray commended. "She does seem more frazzled every time I see her…is she doing okay?"

Alex sighed. He wasn't sure if he would define how Claire was doing as 'okay' exactly. She was always tired. Her habit of falling asleep on him every time they watched TV was going strong and she still occasionally broke down crying over homework assignments but that wasn't anything new, distressing as it may be to watch.

"She's working full time, going to school full time, and still being a mom on the weekends. But all things considering, I think she's okay as she can be."

She wasn't upset all the time. Her tiredness primarily manifested in sleepiness and dark circles under her eyes. And it usually resulted in being extra snuggly so he couldn't really complain there.
