Rein could not see any ripples in the spiritual link. Once again, he got the uncanny impression that she was near but at the same time far away. 

They were clearly mates, but sometimes she isolated herself and treated him like a stranger would. 

"Rein?" Liam turned to him. Her clear ocean blue eyes sparkled under the sun.

She was truly beautiful.

Rein smiled helplessly. No matter what he thought or what she felt, they were mates in this world. Their existence to each other was the closest one could be in their hearts.

He answered her. "Um. After the meeting with the Sea Alliance, we will depart." 

Liam looked at him for a long time before nodding. 

"I have something to tell you. Do you remember the little Avian who made the mattress for you?"

"I remember, isn't she your second-in-command?"

"Yes, she's that one."
