Under Xia Fan's care, Sarah's physical status grew better every day, and her energy reserves as well as her mental state gradually recovered. The only problem now was her dislocated vertebra; this was a very serious condition that needed to be treated, but the lack of sufficient medical supplies and implements to enact treatment meant there was no way for Sarah to engage in any strenuous activity.

Sarah was getting very anxious. Several days had passed, and because Xia Fan had been unable to use his speed, he had to keep fleeing from the creatures hunting them down without going very fast. On average, he would run for three hours , which would only afford them approximately an hour of rest. The repeated fleeing was a huge psychological pressure on Xia Fan; he would most likely have gone to find his comrades had he not been burdened with taking care of Sarah.
