"I have to be happy, if I'm not then my family will worry about my wellbeing and call me incessantly. I must smile to hide my pain, no one must know what I feel, this endless torment of living each day and waking up to an empty room and the need to cry from a dream that never ends!"
Those were the words that Deb Oh receited to herself to remain sane. Her family had great expectations for her, moving to a different country meant better work environment, more money and an improvement in standard of living.
All that expectation came to nothing as not too long after migrating and saving some money to buy herself a car, Deb Oh was involved in a car accident, the police on arriving at the scene ruled it as her fault and she was told to pay a fine of $250, her car was totaled which meant it was no longer driveable and she was forced to beg a relative that housed her briefly when she first migrated to the States. So began her woes in a new country with not much money to spare.
