You know what I was expecting? I'll tell you.
TRUMPET, FANFARE, MEETING GOD
But no, I got something that was arguably better. A stunning view of the mountains.
I'd been deprived of my senses for so long I had forgotten what beauty the world held. Opening my eyes was a sensation I hadn't even known I was longing for. I could see a faint mist cloud lingering under the mountain peaks. I could see all the ridges on the mountains, those majestic proofs of the changing world. The thought of change- a change in scenery, a change in lifestyle, a change hopefully for the better. It was captivating, intoxicating.
Hmmm. Maybe I developed some weird interests from all that time in the darkness.
I also noticed glimmering, snaking rivers situated in valleys as I focused and looked further. Suddenly, another blast of euphoria hit hit followed rapidly by several for waves.
THE SCENT OF NATURE, THE SOUND OF THE WIND, THE BREEZE AGAINST MY SKIN.
I sat down and just enjoyed the feeling. Never have I never felt so glad to be in this world.
After an unknown amount of hours, I got up to appreciate the sunset. I would have stayed for a lot longer to just admire it, but my stomach released fierce growls frightening enough to scare rabbits away. Glancing down the mountain, plumes of smoke quickly caught my attention. Focusing on it, it appeared to be a town. Pretty well made with smooth roads and and brick houses. Squinting a little more, I could make out horses and people. And on the edge I could make out a river snaking around it
I estimated that it had a population of 20,000-30,000. Modest compared to places on Earth which would receive several times that amount of traffic on a daily basis.
I hadn't noticed it before but my physique seemed to have vastly changed. I wasn't fat before, I always paid attention to my calorie and nutrient intake and exercised enough to keep in shape. However, seeing something from a mile up with perfect accuracy was not something I could do. In fact, was that even possible for the naked eye?
Despite wanting answers as to who I was now or maybe it should be, what I was, I was too hungry to care. My hands and feet still looked human, as was the rest of what I would see.
I contemplated whether I would survive the fall if I jumped down from here with my incredible body.
Instincts told me no. Seems I wasn't a god or anything. If I'm being honest, I was expecting an isekai, cheating level ability to compensate for my death, but seems that didn't happen.
*sigh* guess the only way is to walk. And as such, I started my journey. A dent in the ground and a sulking man.
