Capítulo 36: 6 months in the bunker

"Have you seen Mike? He mentioned to me, that somehow all the volcanoes in Alaska are showing signs of eruption... Lucy, do we need to evacuate?"

Raymond Yu munched his drumstick as he speaks to Lucy. "You know, although lots of people said that he is a mad scientist, but somehow I believed in him. I mean, just imagine, what if all the active volcanoes erupted in Alaska? Wouldn't we somehow die of starvation?"

"..." Lucy stared at Raymond with a perplexed look.

How come this guy could talk about a serious matter, like dying, so casually, while munching chicken drumstick?

Raymond is such a foodie that is on the next level!

"Hey, hey, don't give me that look. I am only saying this because, you know, all our food supply are brought fresh here every few days... what if, all the volcanoes did erupt at once, won't we be like a chicken that was cooked in an underground oven?"

Raymond spoke with such a serious expression while waving his hand that is still holding the chicken drumstick.

"Imagine this, a layer of hot magma on top of the underground bunker, and then after few hours, it will start hardening, sealing the entrance to this bunker... who knows, if the magma would block our emergency escape route via the pod, and, and, who knows if our oxygen in here suddenly have some problems, and we need to go out to have fresh air, but we are unable to do it..."

Raymond still ate his chicken happily like all what he said did not bring any weight at all.

Amazing, just amazing! Speaking on scenarios of how you could die while inside the bunker, and still eating happily at that, Lucy could only think Raymond was the only person who could do that.

"Well, if they chose Alaska as the place to build the underground bunker, then I am sure they built them while putting into consideration all those volcanoes, right? Why do we need to evacuate?"

Lucy propped her head up lazily with one hand while she leans on the table. Listening to the theories from Raymond somehow made Lucy feel comfortable.

She has been staring at Raymond Yu, a young master of one of the Asian Richest family.

Raymond Yu, the young master of the Yu family, right now is very different from the other young masters from that she has read in the Asian Chinese Novel.

Aren't all young masters supposed to have a at least 180cm height, a very prominent figure with 6 pax abs, a handsome face like it was carved by God himself, with a cold and domineering attitude, and a CEO of a company at that?

This Raymond, the young master she knew, has been eating at least 10 chicken drumstick in front of Lucy now. He did not even possess a quarter of the description of a typical Asian young master as described in the novels.

Raymond is quite tall, at least to be around 175cm, with a big build.

Forget about 6 pax, by the look on how he has been eating, Lucy would not be surprised if he weighs around 100kg.

He fits the character of a CEO well, as he is the CEO of his own a small company that ventures in the developing online games.

Attitude? Well, for that aspect, Lucy could say that he is like a burst of sunshine. Always positive, no matter what the situation is.

Perhaps that is why Raymond could stay being a close friend with her, while they have been staying in this bunker for 6 months now.

"Huh, I guess, this is the reality..." Lucy spoke softly as she continued staring at Raymond picking up another drumstick.

"Ha? Did you just say something just now Lucy? Anyway, what I was saying just now, was only out of concern. Of course, those engineers would consider those volcanoes into consideration before they decided to place all of us here inside... They won't simply put us in danger, that, I know. But the question is, what if? what if it all happened."

Raymond paused his eating, and look to his left, towards Lucy, expecting a response from her. Seeing Lucy raised her shoulders as if saying him to continue, Raymond spoke more excitedly.

"You know, they might have considered to strengthen this place that is enough to sustain a nuclear blast. But, according to Mike, if all the volcanoes in Alaska erupted at once, it might be big enough that it could propel us out to the air, like a rocket..."

Raymond stopped talking when he saw Lucy frowned her face when Raymond mentioned about a rocket.

"Hey, hey, don't you know that the soil inside the earth would be like a fluid once a huge pressure was applied from deep underground? Say, in case there is a big earthquake right before the volcano eruption, the soil will move in a fluid-like motion," Raymond continues explaining his theory to Lucy.

"Pfft.., yeah right, Mr, junior Scientist. I can't say if all the things you said are correct or not, or perhaps you are just repeating what Mike said to you... but, if the soil will be fluid-like, then our bunker will surely survive, it will be just like a submarine."

Patting on Raymond's broad shoulder, Lucy got up from her chair and said, "Don't think too hard on this issue Ray, why don't you continue enjoying your drumstick?"

'Because all of this might just be one big conspiracy... saving the riches while killing the poor...' Lucy did not continue to speak this part, as she is afraid that Raymond would not be able to fathom the thought.

Perplexed by Lucy's response, Raymond's mouth created an 'O' figure.

Walking away towards her suite, Suzy smiled.

"Another 'natural disaster' huh? surprise, surprise... Not!" Lucy shakes her head as she continues walking towards her room.

Ever since the beginning of her stay inside the bunker, Lucy has been skeptical of all the people that came here for shelter.

She has been saying that all of this has been a conspiracy to her parents, but they just said brushed it off, saying she watched too many dramas.

At this age and time, technology is so advanced that they can even send out drones to Mars, and yet they cannot even detect all the abnormalities that keep on happening around the world?

Surely the earth will send out some signals even if it is dying...

And if all those people around the world were informed of the incoming danger, surely the number of casualties would not be as high as today.

It is estimated that around 150 million lives were missing, and countless people died, following after the disaster.

That... is from the UN record, an official record. But, according to the NGOs all around the world, the number of casualties is estimated to be more than that, as the figure should be almost closed to 1 billion, due to the disappearance of major cities around the world, during the massive earthquake last month.

The question is, are these disasters truly undetectable till the last minute, or are they being purposely kept quiet from all of the people?

"Right, let me interrogate our first suspect, Mike..."
