"Check and mate, old friend," Maleagant said in a rather smug tone. 

It was quite a strange scene where two giants clung to each other while their ebony blades pierced each other's body. However, while the monstrous jackal's khopesh was embedded about a quarter of the way into Maleagant's side, he'd pierced Anubro's chest with Tenebrae. 

"What say we get into something more comfortable so you and I and my two companions can celebrate our bloody reunion a more reasonable and delightful way?" Maleagant asked. 

Those were his last smug words for a while, however, because for at least three people on that battlefield time had slowed to a crawl. 

"Here we go again," Leo said as he marveled at how color was drained from his surroundings at this moment before seconds that reapers could walk into. "Brings a whole new meaning to the term shady dealings."
