Capítulo 67: Chapter 67

As I walked away, following the instructions that I had been given. I found the building was much larger than I had thought at first. The walls were adorned with broken weapons and old maps. Showing what appeared to be quite an honored past. This is surprising though, as a garrison unit, normally one would expect them to not have any kind of walls, like this. Garrisons were just that, a garrison. They should not be used in a battle, at least not in normal circumstances. As I walked on and got closer to where the commander should be, I began to get more and more curious and who he was.

I walked around another corner, finally, I could see what appeared to be the commander's office. There were two soldiers standing guard outside of a door. They saw me approaching and both looked at me weirdly, as I stopped outside of the door. They both didn't stay anything and instead just continued to look at me like I was some sort of crazy person.

Ignoring their stares, I knocked on the door. It was quiet inside for a minute before a man yelled out from inside to come in.

I opened the door and took a step inside. What greed my eyes was an extremely simple room. There were no decorations, just the plain stone walls. Apart from the wooden desk and the two seats which were on both sides of the desk. The commander himself, unlike what I was expecting of a large bulky man. Instead, he appeared to be a thin man. As I looked at him, it looked like just a gust of wind would be able to blow him over.

As I looked over him, I noticed that he had looked up at me. Almost doing the same as me. Then as our eyes locked, I didn't see the confusion at my presence as I had expected. Instead, what I saw, was almost like...he was expecting me?

"SIt down, I think we need to talk."

I closed the door first, then sat down opposite him waiting for him to talk first.

He let out a deep breath then, "So you have come huh, you are a shadow correct?"

I nodded briefly at his words, causing him to smile a little at his guess is right.

"So you are here to what, guard the ambassador or to kill him?"

At his words, I could tell that he didn't know why I was here, just that I would become. I thought to myself for a few seconds before answering.

"I am here to...kill the ambassador."

As I spoke I carefully watched his face trying to work out what he feeling or how he would react. To my surprise, he began to smile.

"That is great news. I am glad you have come. Whatever you need just ask and I will ensure that you will be given it. I will never just bow down to Mocia. I will fight them to the death!"

The commander began to get riled up and almost seemed like as he was right now, he would grab a sword and walk out and butcher the Moican ambassador himself.

This caused me to smile a little. This would make it so much easier to organize an assassination. Although, I would still have to be careful. There would be nightingales around..wait. That is it!

"Commander if you wish to help, I would like you to search the city for people with a blackbird, a nightingale tattoo on them. If you find any, kill them immediately. They will be the biggest threat that I probably will have in dealing with the ambassador. Also, when will he arrive?"

The commander nodded at my request to deal with the nightingales, then thought who looked at me in surprise.

"You don't know? The ambassador is here already. He is in the city hall currently. Today is the last day of the negotiations. I assumed you were here to kill him as he left, not before…"

I cursed out loud at the information that I had been given, I expected that I would be able to get here before the ambassador, but it appeared I had not. Now I had the decision to make, attack him straight away or wait until he comes out and kill him then.

I thought for a few seconds, before deciding on killing him once he leaves. In full view of everyone who will be in the area.

The commander was patiently waiting for me to process the information and was sitting there patiently. Then as I looked back at him, my eyes focused and determined. The commander smiled.

"I guess I should let you go then, oh and I hope you escape after. My guards will not be holding back in their blows."

I nodded at his words as I left.

As I left the building, I didn't bother to remount on the horse and instead just walked to where the city hall should be. The walk only took me ten minutes. As I arrived I noticed that there were a lot of guards around. Though they all looked like mercenaries. None of them were dressed in any form of uniform. If I wasn't looking for guards, I doubt I would have noticed them at all.

Thinking to myself as I looked at them, I then noticed a few more walking around. As I looked I very quickly noted to myself, I would never be able to find all of them and once I start on my mission, I will probably be quickly surrounded by all of the merc's and soon after the city guards from the garrison will then help in surrounding me. Not to mention there would be a few nightingales around here.

Then I noticed some of the mercs were beginning to move towards the door of the hall.

It is time.

I followed them slowly at first, loosening up my body.

Then one hand grabbed hold of my sword, while the other just stayed free, ready for the magic I knew that I would have to use, to almost definitely stay alive. Then I noticed the door beginning to open. I cast the two spells to enhance my body. Feeling the added strength flow through me, was always a definite plus.

Then just before it was open fully, I dashed forward.

I could hear some screams if alarm and warning go out. Then I heard the noise of a few crossbow bolts. They though went past way behind me. No one could have guessed how fast I would be moving. The power of my bloodline and the enhancement magic made me much faster than even I was first expecting.

In fact, at my full speed, I arrived at the opening door, before it even was fully open. Inside I saw who I assumed to be the ambassador. Some of the guards that were next to him, rushed forwards to try to stop me.

It took a few flurries of my sword, to send them flying to the floor with blood spurting out everywhere. Then I stepped forwards towards the ambassador, grabbing him via his collar. I dragged him out of the hallway into the open space. Then while everyone around the hall was watching. I plunged the sword into his throat.

"Mocia will never take our kingdom! War before defeat!"

The people around me, very quickly it seemed worked out what was going on. Their faces then all simultaneously turned into one of fury. Not directed at me though, but at the Motian's as well as the city hall itself.

I didn't know who yelled it out, but I heard someone say, "We are the descendants of the Imperium. Mocia will never beat us. War forever!"

This chant was very quickly taken up by everyone else in the courtyard itself. The mercenaries were trying to get closer to me, but with all of the chaos that had suddenly started I found it very easy to slip away into the crowd and before long I was racing through the winding streets, and once I had finally stopped. I let out a sigh as well as a small smile.

Then I heard the smashing of boots into the cobbled streets. As I turned around I found that there were now, ten people behind me. They were not dressed like the mercenaries though. Instead, they all looked a lot like me, minus the crossbows that I noticed in some of their hands.

Trying to deal for time, as I caught my breath I muttered. "You are nightingales?"

None of them said anything and instead, I found a few crossbow bolts, as well as some flying daggers, come straight for me. I ducked out of the way, very easily avoiding them. Behind me, I heard the clanking noise of them hitting the walls and ground behind me.

I smirked at them, trying to provoke them.
