I watched the goblins as they moved towards me, planning my attack. Once they got within a few metres of me, I started moving forwards. However, two spear tips suddenly emerged from the group of goblins. In response, I immediately jumped upwards to avoid them. As I started moving downwards, I drove my foot into one of the leading goblin's face, knocking them down. Landing in a deep crouch, I swung my claws upwards either side of me to cut through the low-quality spears, leaving the goblins holding useless sticks. Sadly, They didn't panic and the ones with swords started to surround me.
Not waiting for them to prepare, I moved to the right, blocked the goblin's weak slash and disemboweled it with my other hand. Continuing forward, I dispatched another two goblins in a similar manner before I jumped away from the small horde. This time, all the goblins brandished their weapons and ran towards me, unlike the first time where they moved slower to hide the spears. Moving towards the goblins once again, three goblins started to attack me at once. Blocking two of the attacks, I moved my arm so that the third attack hit my shirt, which I knew could easily withstand the blade.
Shrugging off its attack, I moved forward between the two attacks I had blocked and killed the goblins who attacked me. Lunging forward, I stabbed another goblin before it could react, bringing my kill count up to six. However, before I could kill more of them, a sword bit into my arm. Hissing with pain, I pulled my injured arm towards my body and killed the goblin that got launched towards me. Pulling the sword out of my forearm, I moved my wrist to check how much mobility I lost while cutting through another two goblins. Suddenly, a wooden staff swung in to my view, aiming for my head. Blocking it with the back of my hand, I saw the goblin captain frowning at me, the expression souring its already horrible face. Then I heard a sound behind me, and looked over the back of my shoulder to see that I was surrounded, but the goblins didn't rush at me and kept a little bit of distance. Then, before I could process what was going on any further, the goblin captain shouted something, and all the goblins rushed towards me, weapon first.
Seeing enemies on all sides, I timed my jump so I would avoid all of the attacks, and launched myself away from the goblin captain, cutting through the necks of another three goblins when I landed. Seeing that there were only eight goblins left, a small smile found its way onto my face. But, before I could kill more of them, the goblin captain came towards me, holding its staff like a jousting lance. 'How would that ever work?' I thought as I sidestepped the attack, holding my right arm agaisnt the lance to stop it from gaining any momentum. Opposite to my expectations, the goblin captain threw the pole at my legs and jumped towards me, pulling a sharp dagger out of its belt.
Knocking the pole away with my right hand before it could obstruct me movement, I swung my left hand at the airborne goblin, trying to cut it to ribbons. However, my hand was weak due to my injury, and the goblin captain managed to redirect my claws with its dagger, sending them towards the floor. The goblin captain kept moving and, before I could get out of the way, stabbed its dagger deep into my right bicep. My eyes widened with the unexpected pain, before becoming red with anger. Moving my left leg to support me, I used my body to stop the goblin captain, before cutting its head into four different slices. Sadly, I couldn't continue mutilating the body as I still had another seven goblins to deal with, who were running towards me, enraged. Gritting my teeth against the pain, I ran towards the other goblins, each step sending waves of pain from my right arm.
After trapping the first goblin's attack between the claws on my left hand, I groaned from the pain caused by trying to move my right arm. Seeing the effects of the injury the goblin captain had caused me, the other goblins became even more excited, and rushed towards me. Watching the approaching goblins, I twisted my left arm, disarming the goblin in front of me. Annoyingly, the goblin then decided to jump at me, trying to knock me off balance. As I had just used my left arm to disarm the goblin and I couldn't move my right with any significant amount of force, I had to take the body slam head-on. Luckily, as goblins are small and relatively light, I didn't loose my footing, but I couldn't attack the other goblins as the one that just rammed itself into my navel reached up and grabbed my throat, trying to strangle me. Feeling the air that got into my lungs decrease, something overran the remains of my thoughts, and I ripped the limbs off of the goblin attacking me. Before I could regain control, the other goblins had arrived and slashed at my legs and arms. Growling in annoyance, I hopped over most of the attacks and plunged my fingers into one of their eyes, my claws skewering the goblin's brain. Continuing my rampage, I ignored the cuts I recieved from the other goblins as I decapitated, dismembered, or disembowled my enemies.
After finishing the goblins, whatever controlled my actions retreated to wherever it came from, and all the pain and exhaustion entered my brain at once, my overexerted muscles clamouring for attention. Collapsing to the ground, my form returned to that of a human as my vision dimmed. The last thing I heard was the sound of stone scraping against stone, and footsteps coming towards me from the direction of the boss room. Expecting my death, I forced my eyes open, only to see what looked like a human staring back at me with a concerned expression on its face. "A pyrrhic victory, eh?" they mumbled, before something flashed across my vision. The next moment, pain exploded on the top of my head and I fell into darkness.
