Capítulo 40: For My Birthday Present...
The moment Lucas' phone had rung, he knew he was caught red handed by his brother. Since he was going to die in Lin Que's hands or have his life span shortened by a few years after this, he might as well drag Lin Que with him.
"Mom! Bro is hiding a woman from us!!!"
Hearing his loud voice echo, Lin Que would not be surprised for even a deaf person to found out about his crush on Lily by the end of the day.

Lin Que's mother, Lin Yao Yao was having lunch with Lin Que's father, Lin An. She found the time to call her son and see if he was up to anything mischievous again. She saw a tea leaf standing in her tea and smiled to Lin An before the call, "Something good is going to happen to us."
"Silly, that is a superstition. Besides, we have all the things we could ever ask for already. What else is there?" Lin An flipped the newspaper to the next page and continued reading the articles.
She even pursed her lips and said, "I want a daughter-in-law to shop with! This family has too many guys that it's boring! I want a daughter-in-law to dress up and dote on."
"Yao Yao, even if you want a daughter-in-law, you need your sons to be capable enough to get themselves a girlfriend. Lin Que is at the perfect age to date, yet he seems uninterested."
"AH! Talking about my sons, I forgot to call Lucas to see how he is doing. Let me do it now."

Hearing Lucas' loud announcement to her ears, she felt like her luck has indeed blasted from a rocket ship to the moon!
"What? Who? Who? Is she nice? Pretty?" She almost spilled her cup of tea and quickly stuffed earphones to her ears for the best listening quality service.
Lucas was about to say more, but his phone was snatched by Lin Que's long, slender fingers. He looked up and waved, "Ehe... Hi brother..."
His expression literally gave off the 'do you want to die tonight?' look on his face as he answered the call.
"Hello? Mom." Lin Que's voice sounded extremely calm when he spoke.
"Lin Que! Did you get a girlfriend and dare not tell mom?" The excitement in her voice could not be missed when she asked this inquiry.
"There is no such thing. I don't have a girlfriend..." Lin Que glared at Lucas' direction as if telling him to shush. Lucas knew when to stop, so he covered his mouth and nodded.
"What?! But Lucas just said that you were hiding a woman! How could you explain that then?" She was excited over nothing!
"I didn't finish my sentence. I meant I didn't have a girlfriend yet. I'm working on it, but thanks to Lucas, your potential future daughter-in-law ran off. Sigh, when will I get rid of my single life?" Lin Que smiled wickedly towards his brother.
Lucas formed a huge X using his arms and shouted, "Falsely accused!! I saw him cornering the poor lady and mom called at that moment! Hmph! If you weren't dating her, then how come you were hugging her so intimately? Hmmmm?" Lucas didn't feel like backing down on this incident at all.
Instead, he crossed his arms and nodded, "I have all the evidence to prove my point of view. Mom can check it out anytime!" He patted his chest confidently.
On the other end of the call, Yao Yao sipped her tea with an unamused expression. "Can't you two play less and focus more on important matters?"
Purposely acting clueless over the phone, Lin Que asked, "And exactly what are you referring to?"
*Cough Cough* Yao Yao almost choked on her tea. "Lin Que! What else would I mean? Of course, I am referring to a daughter-in-law! Fine, fine. Even if you don't get married until twenty-nine or later, your dad's hair might turn all gray by the time you get a girlfriend. Sheesh, you rejected all my offers in the past. Hmph!"
"Hahahaha, yes. Yes. But mom, Lucas is also old enough to get himself a girlfriend. If you want a daughter-in-law, don't forget you have two sons. Anyways, I'm pursuing the girl. If she ever becomes my girlfriend, then I'll gladly introduce you two." Lin Que said reassuringly.
Yao Yao unplugged her earphones and handed the phone over to Lin An after seeing his hand extend for the phone.
Lin An folded the newspaper up and put it on the table as he spoke, "Lin Que."
"Dad." Lin Que leaned against the wall as he heard his strict voice.
"I know what I want for my birthday. You said you would get me anything right?" Lin An smirked as he brought his cup of coffee to his mouth.
"Of course, it's a promise between men. What do you want?" Lin Que curved his lips as he could finally stop scratching his head endlessly trying to think of a present for his dad's birthday.
"I want to see you bring your girlfriend to dad's birthday party. It'll be a family party anyways. The more the merrier. No need to buy me anything." Hearing his dad's request, Lin Que almost swayed his body to the side.
Lin Que laughed while combing his hair backwards, "Dad, only you could ask something so shameless, yet sound so righteous about it. Okay, I'll try my best. We'll see how comfortable she is. If she isn't my girlfriend by then...Then too bad!"
Lucas pursed his lips on the side and waved, "Hello?! Did you guys forget this call was for me? Damn! Sister-in-law sure is one popular role in our family! I think you guys will all forget about me when she comes into the family picture! Hmph!" He turned to the side, pretending to be jealous.
Lin Que teased, "Yes, mom? Ah, before you jump to the topic of getting a daughter-in-law, you should soothe our family's vinegar jar factory owner. I'll hand the phone back to Lucas."
Lucas looked pitiful when he answered the phone. While he spoke on the phone, Lin Que dragged him to his office, so that they wouldn't stand in anyone's way.
Meanwhile, Lily was already munching on her snacks. She called Ginny as her heart wouldn't stop racing. "Ginny.."
"Lily? What's wrong?" Hearing the panic from her voice, Ginny quickly stopped slicing her steak and focused on the call.
"Are you busy right now to talk? I'm very confused." Lily sounded breathless as if she was having an anxiety attack.
"I'm having lunch with a friend right now. Let me ask if it's alright." Ginny looked up to see the "ok" hand gesture.
"Alright, what's up?" Ginny asked once again.
"I..I think something is wrong with my heart." Her palm rested upon her chest as she felt her cheeks heating up.
