Astrid could not deny the word her grandaunt had spoken. It was the truth. 

Just like her mother, Isadora, Queen Marceline had buried her heart with the loss of her son, forgetting she had every other reason to live and love.

"You know better than anyone just how it feels to have been loved a little too little," Marin reminded. 

Sensing where this was getting to, Blade intervened quickly and tried to make Marin see the truth for herself as well. 

"Astrid was not loved less."

"Yet her mother and even my sister would readily jump in and die just to bring Eric back, forgetting the ones who are living and yearning for their love," she explained. 

"But…" Blade gazed down at the hand on his chest and fell silent afterwards. 

As much as he did not wish to hurt her, she was no fool and she could think for herself.
