CHAPTER 548

While they spoke, Cullen had taken the fight to a whole different level and was ready to land his sword on Bayard's neck when he stopped midway as his sword and hand trembled.

Bayard's eyes flew open instantly at the sight before him. He was in a life and death situation but there was nothing he could do before his son other than to accept death by his hands.

"Do it."

"No," he let out through gritted teeth. 

Bayard's eyes dimmed at him. He knew how loyal and obedient Cullen was to Lorelei, yet at the point where he was even controlled, the latter refused to do her bidding.

"Why? I was not the father you needed when you needed me. I acted on my own for my own selfish reasons."

"Still…" His lips quivered and wrinkles formed at the corners of his eyes. Bayard did not need someone telling him. His son was fighting so much with the control Lorelei had on him.

"I do not want to kill you."
