The keys clicked and the prison cell opened but Astrid still refrained from looking in his direction.

He refused to say anything to her either. And just took his time accessing her. He let out a soft sigh when he noticed her bruises had been healed and no more physical damage was done.

Even at that, he of all people knew without a doubt that it was more than that. What had made her let out that shriek cry just now was not because of the physical pain she felt but the emotional and mental pain.
