It was hard for her to come to terms with it since but hearing him speak this way and the obvious dismissal of Idris from his bed chambers, it could only mean one thing.

"Blade, tell me something." Aelinor paused for a moment. It was hard for her too. She just did not want to say it but she had to. "Do you love her?"

It felt like a taboo in her mouth but as soon as she voiced it out, she wished she didn't and prayed to the heavens that his reply would be negative.

It would have been easier for him to lie to her but this was his mother, he just couldn't and worst of, he was tired of lying actually especially to himself.

He wanted Astrid and needed her in his life. He would be a fool if he did not say the truth and admit it again to himself that she was all that mattered to him.
