Capítulo 5: Act 2-2 Lava Reef
Knuckles kept tumbling over and over with no sign of stopping. The enormous mound of snow around his body kept him from getting out, yet its constantly increasing size made it faster and faster.
Sonic surfed the snow on top of Tails' tracker. Performing tricks on every slope he came across.
Sonic: "Woo-hoo!", He was having fun. He looked to the side to see Tails grumpily stare at him, he looked to the back, seeing the ever increasing ball of snow, worriedly warning.
Tails: "Sonic, watch out.", Sonic looked behind him, but it was too late.
The giant ball of snow caught up to him, as he joined its painful descent through the slope with various grunts. After some rolling around, the ball hit the edge breaking apart and throwing both Sonic and Knuckles down. Tails finally got his chance to grab the tracker. He looked at it, disappointed.
Tails: "Really? Down there? Ahh..."
Knuckles began to glide with a smile seeing Sonic fall to his death, however it quickly turned into a frown, when he saw Sonic direct his flight. With his hands stretched to the side, Sonic moved himself towards the cliff wall and with a flip, began running downwards.
Sonic: "Finally, I can be fast again.", With blue lightning shining around him he ran at the speed of sound towards the inside of a cave. Tails quickly followed. Knuckles tried to catch him midair but they were both too fast.
Knuckles: "Don't think I'll give up that easily.", We see knuckles purposedly let himself fall, as it looks like he is about to punch the ground.
The scene cuts to Sonic running downwards around a blue crystal cavern, as Tails catches up to him on the ground. Tails spins his tails behind him like the games, with his feet slightly hovering above the ground.
Sonic: "I guess, I'll ask again. Chaos Emeralds?"
Tails: "I'm honestly surprised you don't know about them. How do you think you got so fast?"
Sonic: "I don't know, I was born this way."
Tails: "You were given powers from at least one of the emeralds at birth. I was the same. They're powerful enough to grant creatures like us abilities that last a lifetime, that other hunt down to get for themselves. What do you think would happen if someone got all seven?"
Sonic: "Something really powerful I suppose."
Tails: "You could raise whole islands, gain invincible power, summon...", Suddenly the rocks above them began to shake, as dust came off of them.
Sonic: "Summon earthquakes? Also, is it just me, or did it suddenly get a lot hotter?", Tails seems to hear something and grabs Sonic by his arm, pulling him towards the cavern wall. They both stick to it, as Robotnik is seen walking around with a pair of robots.
Robotnik: "Where's that damn fourth Chaos Emerald? Every path I go just sends me to dead ends. Hey, you two, do it again.", Two echidnas show up from behind the doctor reaching the wall in front of him. They begin punching it and forming a hole. Tails seems worried and says quietly.
Tails: "Fourth? He already had three?"
Robotnik: "I'm so close to my goal. I can almost smell the scent of dead hedgehog already."
Sonic: "I hate him so much. I can't believe he was actually this far ahead."
Robotnik: "But you should.", Several Badniks show up from the other side of the cave, as a couple Echidna come out of the ceiling, surrounding the duo. Robotnik smiles as he sees Sonic's worried face.
Robotnik: "You thought I wouldn't notice you there, spying? I made a multitasking tablet, it finds emeralds, as well as teenage mutant fast critters."
Tails: "Oh yeah, I did the same. You're not that special."
Robotnik: "Oh really? And did you connect the CPU electric cables through a thin layer of bambuu to increase the speed."
Tails: "No, I used the Mobian leaves, but I bet you don't even know what those are."
Robotnik: "I bet you don't even know what a CPU is.", Sonic looks to the side at the pair of Echidnas.
Sonic: "Are you guys getting any of this?", Both of them shook their heads as a no. Sonic decides to interrupt.
Sonic: "Look Eggman, I don't care what devices you have, we already know what you are planning and we won't let you get the Chaos Emeralds!"
Robotnik: "Why Sonic? For someone so fast, does the idea of being left behind bother you that much?"
Sonic: "You've lost against me once already, and now that I'm not alone,", Sonic grabs Tails' shivering hand. "You will lose again. Tails, spin me around.", Tails nods.
He begins spinning around himself with his yellow lightning shining through. While still in hold of Tails' hand, Sonic rolls up into a ball, and as any Badnik tries to get closer they just get destroyed. The Echidnas try to look for a good chance to attack, but it's too late. Tails lets go, making Sonic hit the wall and bounce all over the place. While still as a ball, he hits the Echidnas and the remaining Badniks before landing on his feet. All that remains are destroyed robot pieces, and a couple of unconscious Echidnas.
Robotnik: "Hrrgh, don't think this ends here. After all,", Robotnik's walkie-talkie tells him.
Random Echidna: "We found it, doctor.", Robotnik smiles.
Robotnik: "You're already too late.", Robotnik grabs a couple of explosives from inside his jacket throwing them at the ceiling between them.
He runs away, clicking a button making them explode and causing the ceiling to collapse. The ground trembles and breaks apart as well, as Sonic and Tails fall down lower. They are now in another cavern like area, this time with lava rivers on the sides.
Sonic: "That stupid Eggstache really doesn't know when to give up! Tails, do you still have rings left?"
Tails: "I have one more with me. I did leave four more at the house though."
Sonic: "Let's get out of here then.", Tails is about to throw a ring, before a voice stops them.
Knuckles: "Hold on!", From above them Knuckles falls down, after finishing his digging. He lands next to them, pointing his fists at them. "I still need to capture one of you."
Sonic: "You again? Learn to quit."
Knuckles: "I have to do this. No matter what!"
Sonic:" What? You really have to obey that Egghead? Are you really going to let him do that? Look around you, the destruction he causes is clear as day!", Knuckles looks around seeing rocks fall, as the once beautiful Lava Reef seems to crumble apart. Once he looks back, he sees Tails and Sonic enter the portal. With still a foot outside Sonic looks at Knuckles stretching his eye and putting his tongue out to mock him. Knuckles angrily tries to go and punch, but Sonic enters the portal and vanishes.
We cut to the duo back on their house in Green Hills. Tails begins jumping excitedly.
Tails: "That was so cool!"
Sonic: "I know! When you grabbed me and spun around."
Tails: "And then you slip away, and began bouncing all over the place. It was so awesome!"
Sonic: "We make a great duo, you and I."
Tails: "We... we do.", A car arrived at the house as Tom, his wife and daughter arrived. Tom immediatelly got out of the car worried.
Tom: "Are you two okay?" He goes in to hug both of them. "I was so worried that that doctor had caught you. I'm so glad to see you both here."
Sonic: "Come on, Donut Lord, you know nothing was going to happen. As if I'd ever let that Eggman ever catch me.", Sonic sees a red bruise on Tom's cheek. "What about you? Did Robotnik hurt any of you?", He begins exasperately looking around all three of them at super speed to see if they are injured in any way.
Tom: "Don't worry. He just punched me in the face. With how out of shape he is, I barely felt it."
Sonic: "Oh, I'm so glad. Phew... Let's go inside the house.", They all headed inside to begin discussing what to do next. We cut to them at the kitchen table, as Tails comments.
Tails: "It looks like there's two Chaos Emeralds here on Earth, how lucky!"
Sonic: "We need to get them before Eggman can."
Tom: "Where are they exactly? We can help you out."
Tails: "Do you have a map?"
Wife: "Yeah, I think I have one around here somewhere.", Tom's wife goes and grabs a rolled up map, opening it on the table. Tails begins to pinpoint the location. Tom asks:
Tom: "So what do we do when we get the Emeralds? Because if we hide them, Robotnik will just come here to get them."
Sonic: "I was thinking I could mix my power with theirs to get rid of him for good. Becoming Chaos Sonic... no, that doesn't sound right. Emerald Sonic... still doesn't have that nice of a ring to it."
Tom: "The name is the least of our worries. If we send him to another planet..."
Tails: "Zone."
Tom: "Thanks Miles.", Tom said sarcastically. "If we send him to another zone, he can just come back like before. We need to imprison him. Give him no chance to escape."
Tails: "Ok, I've pinpointed the locations."
Wife: "Oh, where are they?"
Tails: "One seems to be in Rome, while the other is in some place called, Las Vegas?"
Tom:"You've got to be kidding me."
Sonic: "Woo hoo, it's casino time!"
