Suddenly, the door opened, trumpets were going rampage.
It revealed a woman with a great figure. The green-eyed woman walked with dignity, every step was graceful. Her brown hair was super shiny, you could think she was a miroir. Her lips were full, red to the point that blood wouldn't be noticed. Her dress was decorated to the point of being called suffocating: pearls, diamonds, laces, everything was extravagant. She held this corrupted smile, the one that looked greedy for money. I have a bad feeling about her.
The face of the king quickly changed, it brightened up. What on earth! If you compare me, and her, the one you should be displeased about, is her! Isn't she just leeching of your title! … I guess she is.. A consort that has no power whatsoever, isn't helping the country at all! Unless she was a tactician or a great ruler. The old queen was the princess of the Dhalas' kingdom, she was a walking peace alliance. Now that she is dead, I wonder what the Dhalas' kingdom will do? Will both kingdoms reform an alliance? They need us, for the water source, and we need them for the food they return. The king has no strategy, is he out of his mind? Is it time for him to retire? I mean.. He may look young, but he's actually in his fifties…
She curtsied and gave her greetings. "Greetings to the head of this country."
The king was surprised, he got down his throne and held her hand. "Dear.. Why did you bow? You shouldn't bow to others so easily, even your future husband."
"Yes...Johannes…" The king smiled hearing his first name from the mouth of his beloved. He held the woman in his arms. "Through the grief of losing our old queen, I hope to honor her passing and move on of the past. I, Johannes Von Charles Crystal, announce the new Crystal's queen as Ece Mary Wraith! Treat her well! And that's all, please enjoy the rest of the party!"
Ece… Ah. The mother of Ava. The one who was sure that she was going to take the throne. When I called her 'royal consort' she got mad, why?.. I just learned that, that literally meant 'royal wife'. I think she doesn't want to be called the king's compagnon, but as the 'Crystal's queen'.
I scoffed, why does this concern me? Oh yeah I'm still bitter.
The crowd went speechless for a second, I'm guessing they had the same thought as mine. Suddenly on after one, they held up their glasses, trying to mask their unpleasant feelings.
"Haha, congratulations!" One awkwardly said.
"Long live the Queen!" A person said, this time they were serious. I think they are happy that an aristocrat will be ruling. It would benefit all the nobles, since they knew the queen won't 'side' with the commoners, like Queen Annette. Such ambitious people, gaining favours for their own benefits. The area was filled with welcoming.
Jealous? Humph, I'm not! Wanting to leave this suffocation room, I ditched Landon and searched for the balcony. Midway of the trip, there,* just like a wild Pokémon, Ruby stopped me.
She looked at my dress, got shaken up by the undamaged part
"You! Didn't I burnt yo-.." She bit her tongue, noticing her mistake. My suspicions were right afterall.
"Greetings your highness. I hope you enjoy this night, good day." I quickly passed her, wanting to avoid problems. Why did I leave Landon again? Of course luck wasn't on my side, and Ruby got worked up. She accidentally tilted her glass and a droplet spilled on her dress.
"How dare you!? You, a commoner, spilled juice on my dress! The price of this is so high, you can't even pay it!" Blablabla, she kept rambling on nonsense, I was getting tired of her attitude. How I whish I could zip her up. I didn't even touch you and you blame me?! And it's just a drop, it's not even visible! I have to settle this quickly and quietly.
I apologized even though I did nothing, and approached her. I reached for my handkerchief and handed it to her, I also whispered through her ear: "Do walls have ears? I hope so~ It could've been useful to catch the CULPRIT." I smiled and backed a foot. It was a friendly warning, indicating that I knew what happened.
"Good night Princess Ruby~ It was fun while it lasted." I walked fast, going away from her view, my legs deposited me up at the food booth. My mood healed up. All these laid out desserts, yet practically no one touched one ; I guess they're on a diet or too embarrassed to take one. That's too bad, all these foods were delicious! Why not take advantage? I swiftly took a slice of cake and went to get some fresh air.
Laying the plate on the rim of the thick railing, I took a nibble of the devil's cake. One thing's for sure, it was worthy of its name. This cake lures you into an abyss of sweetness : once you take a bite, you won't be able to stop. Wow~ This ball's patissiere is really good! This is the best thing that happened to me tonight.
Without realizing it, I had cleaned my small plate, I was now stuck in a small dilemma. What to do with this empty plate. You see, normally you wouldn't need to bother with such trivial things, that's because you have somebody doing it for you. If none of the servants are available, ahem, totally not avoiding you, you're stuck, just like me. Do I leave it here? No that would be rude. If somebody saw a random plate on the balcony, they would freak out. Do I search for a servant? That.. Would be unladylike. Wait, do I have cream or crumbs on my mouth? I gave my handkerchief to Ruby! No! What do I do now? It's good that the area was deserted.
Like a hero Landon was, he rapidly came to my rescue and took care of my plate. I have to give him credit on that.
"Princess.." He breathed out. "Your presence is required, the Khador's princes have arrived." Afraid that I would escape, which I definitely thought of, he grabbed my hand, dragged me in. Khador's princes, hein?
Each year, a grand party would be held in one of the countries : nobles would take advantage of this to socialize, build connections, show off, and perhaps build international business.... Now, I don't care of any of that, but trust me, nobles waited for this day. The system is like the *Olympics : a country will host a party and invite some people over. For example, Crystal's kingdom has 3 years to prepare an extravagant party. Three years because Khador's Kingdom doesn't participate at all ; they don't host nor come over. They had always been isolated from our shenanigans, they only stepped out of their territory once in a blue moon. Maybe they don't care about us?
We're not the bad guys here! We always invite the Khador's people over, out of formality, but they'd always decline. It's news that they finally accepted.
*Pokemon and Olympics do not exist in this world
