"Greetings Sir, how may I be of any assistance today? Would you like to have a letter written or?"
The Baron was triggered by Lycster's words, and Old Chon knew his master's thoughts. He stepped forward and slapped the boy across the face.
It was such a hard slap, that Lycster fell to the ground. Carole was surprised. Everyone else in the surrounding area saw what happened and gathered to see the commotion.
"Lycster! Are you alright," Carole exclaimed out of concern. She turned to the men standing before her and shouted, "What is wrong with you people? The boy merely asked a question!"
Old Chon raised an eyebrow, "A question? Do you realise that he has insulted the Baron?"
"Insulted? He merely asked if he would like to have a letter written! As simple as that! This is a stall, an honest business helping people to write letters! How was it insulting," Carole fought back.
Old Chon shook his head, with a sinister grin, "The boy was insinuating that the Baron could not read! If that's not an insult, what is it?"
Carole was taken aback. These people were despicable! They were clearly here to kick up a ruckus. Before she could even come up with a reply, the Baron spoke first.
"I must say, Old Chon, these common folk are terribly ill-mannered. I have never been so insulted in my life!"
Old Chon bowed to his master and spoke, "Indeed Baron, I think they need to be taught a lesson."
He turned to the men they had brought and ordered, "Braxton, Dace, arrest the boy!"
The two men who were named saluted to the butler and the Baron before they proceeded to drag Lycster by his arm. The boy struggled and kicked, asking to be let go but the two men were too strong for him.
Carole tried to stop them but she was immediately pushed to the ground. Under the order of the Baron, the rest of the men began trashing the store. Lycster was enraged by what was going on and tried to fight back.
But no matter how much he struggled, there was nothing he could do. Carole tried to beg them to stop but no one listened. The townsfolk were outraged by what was going on but no one dared to do anything.
They knew the influence of people like Baron Koufer. Especially people like Baron Koufer. He wielded much authority in the region because of his wealth and backing.
They knew that while they could not help, they could try to find a way to contact Vyrena.
~
On the other side, Vyrena has finally arrived in Nook Town. The vibrant town reminded Vyrena very much of Timbretune, but a seemingly upgraded version. Nook town had multiple street markets scattered across all over the town, wider streets and a greater variety of food and drinks.
Though the travelling has worn her out a little, it was a rush of adrenaline. She wanted nothing more than to travel even further. While she enjoyed a mid-day meal in a pub, she looked at the map that Dotty had come up within her mind.
She looked grouch all the neighbouring areas and wondered if there might be a portal gate to the Elves Alliance nearby.
-Dotty, do you have any information on the Elves Alliance and if there might be any portals nearby?-
<I have the information right here, Vy! While you look through it, I will do a scan and cross-reference the information to locate a portal!>
Within a minute, a ton of information entered Vy's mind and she absorbed them like a sponge. As she started to analyze the information she has received, Vy realised that this was merely the tip of the iceberg.
After all, the Elves have existed for thousands of years. Rumour has it that the Elves were one of the very first races to roam this world. Their long life span of up to a thousand years, powerful ancient magic and intelligence made them valuable allies to have, and terribly difficult enemies to defeat.
Furthermore, there were different races of elves and each of them had a unique set of skills.
<Good news Vy! There is a portal nearby that we could use! It's hidden in a cave about 10 minutes away from this town.>
Dotty showed Vy a basic map that revealed their current location and the location of the portal. Seeing as to how close they were to it, she decided to go ahead and see it for herself. It was at this point she realised that the trip would have become longer than a day.
Thinking about Lycster and how much he had grown, she was certain that he would be able to handle things on his own for a couple more days. Vy asked for her bill at the pub and as she paid, she asked the barkeep where the nearest post office was.
She headed straight to the post office, wrote a quick letter and mailed it back to Timbretune.
"How long would it take for the letter to reach the recipient?"
"It should take no more than half a day."
