Capítulo 12: First Task
As I scanned through the requests on the board, I saw a particular one that caught my interest.
Dungeon Maintenance - C rank
Clear bottom floors of the nearby C rank dungeon to prevent over population and dungeon breaks.
Reward: 1 Gold per person
As I looked at the task I consulted with Aurelia, "I think this would be a good quest, we'll be able to get experience points as well as possible materials in the dungeon, what do you think?"
"That would be a great idea, I think we should do it. Monster cores are also much more likely to appear in dungeon monsters than field ones, because of how they come about, and I need those for enchanting."
Glad about her quick response we bring the flier to the task counter to accept and both of our names are put down for the task. With all of the procedures finished we both start to head to the entrance of the cities dungeon.
"I can't believe how much has happened in the last few hours, right Aurelia?" I say this thinking about all the events that have happened.
"Ya so much has happened so fast I haven't had time to think, now I'm just worried that Derek is okay. Especially after what what Reya let slip about someone interfering with good people on earth." Aurelia had a hint of worry in her voice as she thought of her twin brother, saying the last part in an almost inaudible whisper in my ear.
"Someone is what?!" I said in a shocked whisper, realizing the severity of what she just said, "So your saying that Derek is also in danger of being killed off by whoever is interfering?"
"Ya, exactly, what makes it worse is that when I talked to him right before I got in the game he was working on a major epiphany on the bio prosthetic he is working on, if he dies now all that will just disappear. The only comfort I can find is that it is very likely that Reya will send him to this world if he does die."
"I guess we just need to keep our ears open for really any unique classes, I think he was going to be a tamer type class," I said thinking about how we'll find him if he does end up here. "Looks like we made it," I say seeing that we finally made it to the dungeon which looked like a cave leading into the mountain. We get into the que waiting for our turn to get into the dungeon.
It took a few minutes until we got to the front of the line, at which we presented proof of the task. Seeing the identification for the task he let us through without having to pay the fee. We then walked onto the platform and it activated, bringing us to a strange forested cavern. Arriving in the starting safety zone we quickly started planning our attack strategy.
Aurelia started the discussion with her insight. "I'm thinking as we are right now if you're fast enough nothing in this dungeon can harm us. I can help there by providing speed buffs with my light magic. I can also do other buffs as well, What do you think?"
I quickly agreed to the proposal Aurelia gave me as we left the safe zone. I started to increase my guard as we left the safe zone, not willing to take any chances. My guard was unwarranted though as all the beasts we far weaker, killed with one spell from Aurelia or slash from my scythe.
We were only able to level up after the finishing the second basement floor. Most of the monsters were monster variants of animals like bobcats, squirrels and other smaller animals. The only thing we gained was four element less mana stones that Aurelia could use for enchanting. Finally we arrived at the seventh floor and realized where our task started. One thing that separated D ranks and C ranks with monsters is the minor ability to use elemental mana.
Thinking carefully I say that we should assign stats be for we proceed further. "Hey Aurelia, I'm thinking we should assign our stats before we proceed any further, just in case we encounter something unexpected."
"That would be a good idea"
