"Hey, Abramson!" one of the other groomsmen yelled from a nearby table, snapping John out of his thoughts. "Go ask someone to dance already; you've been sitting there the entire time!"

Eva's eyes lit up with delight. "Wait, you're John Abramson? The guy who wrote the book on the Bay Area Blade? That was a great read but, gee, I got the chills when you described your interview with the guy. Being near such a monster must have been terrifying."

John felt Hazel's fury before he saw it. She was radiating enough heat that she was practically shooting sparks. When he dared to look up her small hand had managed to snap the plastic fork she was holding right in half.

"You…wrote that book," she said accusingly. "How dare you capitalize on other people's pain? Everyone in the country knows that devil's name now because of you!"
