Capítulo 489: Extra 12: I choose you! (24)

"Oh-uh" - Kurama shook his head as he saw how the barrier of his son's Pokémon was starting to break, but his expression quickly changed to a serious one when he saw how Ivysaur was concentrating energy on the flower on his back - "I see".

"Huh? What's wrong?" - Delia asked as she heard her husband's voice.

She was worried about her son, but hearing Kurama speak, made her react all of a sudden.

"I think things are about to take a 180° turn" - answered Kurama with a huge smile - "That Ivysaur is more dangerous than we all thought."

Ivy also noticed the change in Ivysaur, but said nothing because she was still surprised at the multiple uses of attacks the plant-type Pokémon was using - "First [Protection], then a mix of [Synthesis] and [Growth], ending in a [Solar Beam]"

"Huh, [Solar Beam]?" - Delia repeated as she saw how Ivysaur's pink flower was glowing brighter - "I see."

"Oh, Gary's in trouble" - Oak said as he noticed the change in his friend's son's Pokémon, though he quickly shook his head - "Though it's a surprise that I finally saw the result of my approach to combo attacks."

Oak had researched unison attacks, ending his research with the creation of the three elemental moves [Fire Vow], [Water Vow], and [Plant Vow], moves that strengthened and created different effects depending on the mix of attacks.

"But this is different, it's not using two Pokémon, it's just one empowering its abilities thanks to the mix of attacks" - Oak said excitedly as he took out his notebook - "I see, if there is a common factor, there is a greater chance that attacks can be chained together and create unique combinations with much greater potential, in this case, Ivysaur has used the sun as a connection and linked [Growth] with [Synthesis] and finally with [Solar Beam]"

Oak was thrilled by this discovery, and the best part, the creator or rather, the discoverer, was none other than a trainer who was only 10 years old.

"This may be the discovery of the century, but I'd better keep researching before giving a verdict" - Oak continued while shaking his head.

Gladio's eyes widened in surprise when he saw what was happening, more so when he noticed how his brother's Ivysaur was much more dangerous than he thought - "I guess Tousan was right, you should never underestimate your opponents or their Pokémon.

"Ready, Ivysaur, use [Solar Beam]!" - Ash exclaimed as Gary's eyes widened in surprise because he didn't expect this drastic change, more so when he didn't see how Ivysaur launched a powerful light attack through his fragile barrier.

"Arcanine!" - Gary exclaimed in terror as he watched his partner go flying. He was aware of how fast it was to charge the [Solar Beam] when there was intense sunshine like there was now.

"Ivysaur!" - Ivysaur roared fiercely as he continued to channel all the solar energy he had absorbed.

When it was all over, Arcanine was glued to one of the stadium's walls with his eyes unfocused.

"Arcanine cannot continue!" - The referee exclaimed as he watched Gary's Pokémon fall unconscious.

"You did a good job" - muttered Gary as he returned his partner to its Pokeball. He was aware that not only had he lost because of Ash's Ivysaur's surprise attack but also because his attack caused massive damage to his Pokémon - "But we're not done yet."

"I was hoping to hear that" - Ash said seriously as he returned Ivysaur to its Pokeball to take a well-deserved rest.

"Go, Squirtle!" - Ash exclaimed as he released a small blue turtle.

"Squer, Squer!" - Squirtle as he nodded in the direction of his trainer.

"Go, Electabuzz!" - Gary exclaimed earnestly as he released a yellow humanoid creature with black markings in the shapes of lightning bolts.

"Bubuzz!" - Electabuzz growled fiercely as he glared at Ash's little Pokémon.

He, unlike his teammate, had no condescension at the sight of an early stage, in fact, it only made him want to destroy it more intensely.

"Fourth match, Squirtle Vs. Electabuzz!" - exclaimed the Referee as he looked at the two trainers - "Begin!"

"Squirtle, use [Bubble Beam]!" - Ash exclaimed as the little torture launched a flurry of bubbles at its opponent.

"Electabuzz, use [Thunder Punch] along with [Quick Attack]" - Gary said seriously as a sadistic grin appeared on his Pokémon's face.

"Buzz!" - Electabuzz roared as its speed suddenly increased and a huge amount of electrical energy surrounded its fists.

"Squirtle, use [Withdraw]!" - Ash exclaimed seriously as he watched his Pokémon hide in its shell.

"That's useless against us! Keep up your attack and when you're done throw it into the air!" - Gary exclaimed as he watched Electabuzz fiercely punch the Turtle Pokémon's hard shell.

"Squerr!" - Squirtle screamed in pain from inside its shell as the electric currents continued to affect it.

"Squirtle!" - Ash shouted as he prepared to return to his partner, but stopped when he noticed Squirtle stick his head out and tell him that everything was okay.

Ash's expression was one of anxiety as he saw how his Pokémon had been sent flying with Electabuzz's last hit, more so when he noticed his wild grin.

"First use [Rain Dance] and then [Thunder]," Gary said simply, only for the weather to slowly begin to change after his words ended.

The strong sun hid under a cloud cover, only for after a few seconds, heavy rain to lash the place.

All the spectators screamed in surprise that they would soon get wet, but to their relief, the facilities were prepared for this.

Slowly some covers appeared over those present, who could only watch in wonder as they could once again enjoy the fight without fear of being drenched by the spontaneous rain.

"Bubuzz!" - Electabuzz roared as it launched a powerful electric attack, now enhanced with rain, against its opponent.

"Squirtle use [Hydro Pump] to dodge the attack and propel you against Electabuzz!" - Ash shouted at the top of his lungs.

"Squeeerrr!" - Squirtle didn't hesitate, he quickly followed his trainer's instructions and used the power of his attack to dodge an impending downfall.

"Buzz!" - Electabuzz was surprised at this, but his expression quickly returned to normal as he circled his body in lightning to brace for impact.

Squirtle continued to move at full speed against his opponent, not realizing that the danger wasn't over yet, but to his bad luck, this was an opportunity his opponent wouldn't pass up.

"Use [Thunder Wave]" - Gary said seriously - "And then follow up with [Shock Wave]"

"Buzz!" - Electabuzz nodded firmly as he unleashed an electric wave that spread across the stadium.

Squirtle quickly dropped down after receiving his opponent's inescapable electric attack, unable to do anything to stop it.

"Squirtle!" - Ash exclaimed in terror at the sight, only to scream when he saw how Electabuzz had once again appeared in front of his Pokémon and delivered a powerful electric assault.

Squirtle screamed in pain as it bounced around three times before becoming completely immobile from all the damage it had taken during the battle.

"Squirtle can't continue!" - exclaimed the referee as he saw how Ash's Pokémon was unconscious - "The winner is Electabuzz!"

"You did a good job, my friend" - muttered Ash with a sad smile as he saw how he had lost his friend, only to look seriously at Electabuzz and notice how it too was tired.

"That was a good fight, Ash" - said Gary seriously as he returned Electabuzz to its Pokeball to rest a bit because the last battle despite being short, had consumed much of its energy.

"Trainer Gary, please release your Pokémon" - said the Referee as he looked at the dark brown-haired young man.

"Go, Nidoking!" - Gary exclaimed as he released an imposing, prehistoric-looking purple Pokémon.

"Nido!" - Nidoking roared fiercely as it looked at Ash seriously.

"Kingler, it's time for you to return to the battlefield!" - Ash said as he released the huge orange crustacean.

"Kuki Kuki!" - Kingler gave Nidoking a serious look as it waved its pincer menacingly.

"Be careful, Nidoking" - Gary said seriously - "That Kingler is not as weak as you think, and even though it's tired, you don't have to let your guard down."

"Nido!" - Nidoking nodded firmly as he narrowed his eyes.

"It's time for a change of scenery!" - The Referee said as the roulette wheel again appeared behind him, showing that the battlefield was now an icy arena.

"Ok, this is an advantage for me" - muttered Ash as he saw how Gary's Nidoking was shivering from the cold, which wasn't so strange knowing that he was Earth-type, a weak type against icy attacks.

"Ash's Kingler Vs. Gary's Nidoking!" - exclaimed the Referee as he looked at the two young men - "Begin!"

"Kingler, use [Agility] to increase your speed and use the ice to slide against your opponent!" - Ash ordered earnestly as he prepared for an all-or-nothing strategy because he could tell that his partner's tiredness.
