Chapter 63 – Lem-VII
Lem System, Planet Lem-VII's orbiting moon.
On the moon, a large colonist base could be perfectly seen. The base was large and spacious with numerous dome-shaped facilities that could sustain many lives.
There were many people from Sidonia living in this outpost. Some were scientists, engineers, and even astronauts.
"Space shuttle, this is the Moon Base speaking. Do you copy us? Over."
"Space shuttle, do you hear us? Why are you not responding? Over."
A group of people were trying to contact the space shuttle that had just launched into Planet Lem-VII.
Planet Lem-VII was a habitable planet comparable to Earth. It had an ocean, land, and atmosphere.
And currently, a large space shuttle could be seen floating in the sea.
"Space shuttle? Over."
There was a voice coming from the communication channel that could be constantly heard.
A woman wearing a bulky space suit went out of the space shuttle. With a gasp, she began to admire the beautiful scenery of the rising sun and the sea below it.
"Yes, we copy you. Over," replied the woman as she snapped out from her stupor, "Splashdown went successful. Everybody is fine. And the view here is simply fantastical."
"Roger that. Have a nice exploration of this new planet. Over," replied the person, who used the comm to contact them.
"Hey! Swim with me! It's heavenly I tell yah!" happily said by man.
He swam in the sea with his spacesuit still intact.
"Go have some fun, I'll take care of the rest," the captain of the shuffle said behind the woman.
"Thank you, sir!" the girl said happily.
The captain chuckled.
"Woo-Hoo!" the girl exclaimed, and leaped out of the hatch with great strength.
SPLASHHH!
She dove straight into the sea, her body slowly sinking deeper. As she was mesmerized to feel the cold natural water of the sea, her eyes soon sunk in horror after witnessing something.
Below her feet, a huge terrifying shadow could be seen lurking. It slowly inched closer and allowed her to clearly see its appearance, making her suck in a deep cold breath.
"Kyaaaaa!!!"
A scream of horror resounded before it slowly died out.
After that screen, two more desperate screams rang out.
The fate of the three people became unknown since then.

"!!!?"
In the communication room of the moon base, many people were puzzled after hearing the screams from the space shuttle.
"AHHHHH!!"
All the people on the moon heard a scream coming from outside, causing them to hurriedly go outside.
"Wh-What's wrong!?"
"AHHH! What`s this? Ga-!"
Outside, every colonists were staring above their head with their faces clearly expressing terror.
A colossal shadow covered the entirety of the moon's surface, as a Large Mass Union Ship approached, releasing countless placenta arms.
Bzzzt!
The outpost built on the moon no longer sent signals to Sidonia after that.

"The Large Mass Union Ship collided with Lem-VII's moon, causing the entire output to be annihilated. At the same time, the fate of the colonists appears to be hopeless."
The white-haired Jason listened attentively to the news. Near him, there was a radio that wasn't commonly used.
"As expected… The colonists settling down without weapons was simply a foolish idea to even suggest. I don't understand why some humans are innately stupid when their brains are so advancely evolved," Mr. Alien muttered, shaking his head with a sigh.
He continued to listen.
"These are the captain's statements regarding this event; 'We won't wait for their next moves. This time, we'll make the first move'."
Mr. Alien agreed with Kobayashi's statement.
In the past, the Gaunas were always the one to take the initiatives. But that was clearly wrong. Instead of allowing them to adapt and grow stronger, they must crush them as soon as possible.
"This declared attack on the Large Mass Union Ship will start when every arrangement is complete. However, it's expected that the plan will make massive changes to Sidonia."
"Additionally, we have also received information from Big Star Corporation about the carrier ships and warships. As such, SDF Academy created a new special course for the piloting of the new ships."
"The creation of the supergiant Fusion Reactor will also be finished soon, so expect some power outages in the residential areas. As for the new defense and offense systems, it will still take some time."
"Good, things seems to be progressing really well," Mr. Alien said in satisfaction.
The stronger Sidonia developed, the more it will benefit from it.
As it listened to the radio, It still worked on completing Project Demon Knight.
The white-haired Jason looked in front of him, gazing at the humongous incomplete black skeletal frame.

Inside the assembly hall, Kobayashi stood in front of every pilot present.
"The Large Mass Union Ship is presently orbiting around Lem System's Seventh Planet," said Kobayashi while showing them a hologram presentation, "And as you expected, Lem-VII is the habitable planet selected for colonization."
The hologram changed, now showing the appearance of the Large Mass Union Ship for all of them to witness.
"The base on the Lem-VII's orbiting moon has already been destroyed. The Gaunas have once again committed massacre to mankind again to make us feel extreme despair. But our hope will continue to blaze for eternity!"
The pilots felt their heart throbbing excitedly.
"There is only one way for mankind to create a future with no alien conflict. Only by removing the Gaunas from this universe, will we make a peaceful world for our future generations!"
The hologram soon changed to show the distance between Planet Lem-VII and Planet Lem-IX.
"The execution plan has already started. Sidonia is now on its way to the Lem System. Arrangements for the deceleration maneuvers are to be finished soon. Our destination: Outer Planet — Gas Giant Lem-IX."
"Upon reaching Lem-IX, Sidonia will stay on its orbit and then employ the moon clusters as natural barriers. That will be our strong point—one from which we'll carry our attacks on the Large Mass Union Ship!"
The pilots listened seriously with excited yet nervous eyes.
They knew there were chances of them dying in this battle, but what was more prouder than dying in the battlefield to protect their homeland?
The other top upper echelon didn't object to Kobayashi's decision.
With the immortal assembly gone, she now held the highest power. Besides, they also felt her words to be the fact ever since the annihilation of the colonists on the moon.
No matter what they do, the Gaunas won't stop hunting them down.
That was only their reason to even exist in this universe.
