Chapter 13 — Mr. Alien's Proposal.
Jason Star's Daily Log | Day 68.
Residential Area | 4:00 PM.
At the highest level of the ordinary residential area, Jason came to meet Kobayashi.
To be more precise, Kobayashi called for him to ask important questions.
⟨ Host, please prepare yourself. I assume your commander will most likely ask questions about what transpired during your first battle against the Gauna. ⟩
"Don't worry, I know that much. I'm not that too oblivious," Jason answered briefly and then continued. "The problem is how should we proceed with this kind of situation. Should we lie or tell the truth?"
⟨ Host, I recommend your next action is to not lie, but rather tell the truth. Lying will not gain us anything good, but just attract unnecessary suspicion. It will also affect your future by limiting the available choices and making it more troublesome. The correct answer is to answer truthfully. Likewise, you should also finally reveal about my own existance to them while mixing bits of lies. ⟩
⟨ And instead of attracting doubts and suspicions, it is better to gain their complete trust. I also want to propose a beneficial plan that will help the entire humanity greatly and to realize that, I need to reveal my own existance. ⟩
Jason listened to Mr. Aliens words carefully and patiently.
It was indeed a good idea to finally reveal Mr. Alien very early and allow it to proactively help Sidonia before it's too late.
Sidonia was under the constant threat of getting destroyed everyday.
If Sidonia was suddenly to get destroyed by the Gauna Race, Jason would also die alongside it because where else could he live?
"I see, I understand what you're trying to say, Mr. Alien. In fact, I was also thinking about the same thing as you. It is indeed the best course of action to say the truth."
Jason didn't refused and immediately agreed with it.
As expected, a mechanical alien parasite was smarter and wiser.
However, Jason wouldn't delude himself to always believe on Mr. Alien's choice.

Mr. Alien expressed its own happiness over Jason's compliment.
"Oh right! Can you tell me what plan are you gonna propose, Mr. Alien?"

Jason frowned slightly after it started acting secretive to him.
"I'm not kidding around, Mr. Alien. Why won't you say it to me now? You must remember that I don't really trust you too much because of the various reasons you've commited to me in the past."

It felt wronged.
"Your apology is not accepted."

It was about to cry.
Jason inwardly laughed, as he could somehow imagine the current expression of it.
He soon arrived toward Kobayashi's room and met with her.
Jason respectfully greeted the commander who nodded slightly at him.
Without wasting time for both of them, she quickly went straight to the point.
Jason loved that straightforward attitude of Kobayashi. She took her job as a commander very seriously, now causing her to be direct and have no time to waste.
And just like what they expected, Kobayashi proceed to interrogate Jason.
"Pilot Jason, can you now explain what transpired during your engagement against the Gauna? I mean, about your Rokurome's strange transformation?"
Jason came prepared and wasn't surprised. Instead of panicking, he controlled his facial expressions perfectly and started his improvised acting that can adapt based on the current situation.
"Commander, I actually don't even know what happened that time, but a voice spoke inside my mind, making me believe my body have been modified to house a smart Artificial Intelligence."
"....?" Kobayashi looked at Jason strangely and didn't know what he was taking about.
Jason pondered for a moment on how to explain this more easily.
"In simple terms, my body is like a half-cyborg and holds something like a mechanical parasite called Artificial Intelligence."
As Jason's words left, his left crimson eyes suddenly left its socket and floated near the face of Kobayashi.
"Greetings, commander. I am Jason's assistant and is a smart Artificial Intelligence."
Kobayashi was surprised seeing this weird scene, but quickly calmed down.
"So this is the Artificial Intelligence you mentioned? But why only talk about it now?"
"I didn't mentioned it before because I didn't even know it existed inside my body since I've lost my memories," Jason explained while looking apologetically.
⟨ I have been dormant ever since his awakening and only recently awakened during his fight against the Gauna. Please don't blame him. ⟩
Kobayashi nodded slowly and understood the gist of what they're talking about.
"I see, so that's how it went. I now perfectly understand your situation."
Kobayashi didn't found them at wrong and wasn't suspicious as Jason even told her about this kind of important thing.
It just showed how Jason trusted her too.
"Are you responsible for what happened back then, strange AI?"

Kobayashi grew somewhat disappointed after learning only Jason was able to use it. It would have a great additional offensive power for the Sidonia.

"...!" Jason grew nervous after hearing that question and prayed that Mr. Alien can answer it smoothly.
⟨ Of course, I remember some details about his past. As far as I know, Jason was the most talented pilot to exist on Ainodis, a seed ship that was also known as our previous home. ⟩

Kobayashi turned to look at Mr. Alien again.
"What about you? What's your own identity?"
⟨ I am a supporting Artificial Intelligence that holds the entire wisdom of the Ainodis Civilization. I was created and born from the hands of many greatest minds. You can refer to me as Mr. Alien. ⟩
Kobayashi remained silent, organising and processing everything the she had learned today.
However, Mr. Alien soon broke the silence.
⟨ Commander, can I trouble you to call Sasaki, the Chief Of Toha Heavy Industry? ⟩
"Why do you want me to call her?" Kobayashi asked curiously.
⟨ I would like to propose my very beneficial plans that can make Sidonia to develop even faster and eventually prepare for its unknown future. Would you allow it? ⟩
Hearing that, Kobayashi's eyes grew surprised.
"I will allow it! Earlier, you said you hold the entire wisdom of your original seed ship. If we can learn about it, it will surely help Sidonia greatly. I'm no fool, and for the good of Sidonia and humanity, I'm prepared to do anything."
"That's very admirable," Jason muttered with his lips curling upward.
Kobayashi's commitment toward her job as the commander was something really admirable and praiseworthy.
"However, why the Toha Heavy Industry specifically, and not the Kunato Development?"
Kunato Development was the company that created the Type 18 Guardian that every pilots today uses for combat.
⟨ It's all about Jason's preference. He likes Sasaki more than the people from Kunato Development. ⟩
"So you like Sasaki, Jason?" Kobayashi asked interestedly, not expecting that.
Jason was dumbfounded and quickly waved his hands to deny it.
"I like her, but not in a romantic sense. Please don't misunderstood it! I favour her since she made Rokurome for me, that's all." Jason quickly explained, somehow not wanting Kobayashi to misunderstand him.
He then silently cursed at Mr. Alien for making those words sounds misleading.
Could it be a revenge for earlier?
It seems so.
Kobayashi asked her assistant, Ochiai, to quickly bring Sasaki over her.
And soon enough, the Chief of Toha Heavy Industry, Sasaki, arrived at the place.
"Why are you looking for me, Kobayashi?" Sasaki asked leisurely, but was then shocked when she saw a bizzare sight.
Jason's left eye was gazing towards her, but what's weirder is that it was out of its socket, floating at the air with the help of a metallic tendril.
"What happen to your left eye!?" Sasaki asked while looking frightened.
Jason chuckled lightly as a result.
Kobayashi quickly calmed Sasaki down and proceeded to explain things toward her.
After a minute, Sasaki soon understand everything.
"I get it now, so what kind of plan are you proposing to us?" Sasaki turned serious while asking Mr. Alien.
⟨ The premise of my plan is about developing the current technology level of the Sidonia. By fusing my own knowledge into Sidonia's pre-existing knowledge, we will able to create something new and amazing. But for now, I will focus on improving the current Guardian and develop a new Anti-Gauna weaponry system to not be completely reliant on the use of Kabizashi. I need the Toha Heavy Industry for that. ⟩
Sasaki was stunned after hearing Mr. Alien's plan. Kobayashi and Jason was also quite stunned.
"You're capable of creating weapons that are able to destroy Gauna's True Body like the Kabizashi?" Kobayashi asked hurriedly.
No one knows better than herself about how dangerous it was to keep the Kabizashi inside the Sidonia. It attracted the Gauna Race for some unknown reason, but maybe it was due to its strange origin and aura.
Despite the risk of keeping the Kabizashi, Kobayashi couldn't throw it out. It was the only weapon capable of destroying a Gauna's True Body.

Mr. Alien was troubled on how to name this particular element that it discovered in the past.
Maybe you can provide some help?
"Then will it also attract the Gauna like the Kabizashi?" Kobayashi asked curiously.
⟨ I don't know exactly yet, but it should not since the new element is something they particularly dislikes. ⟩
Kobayashi's expressionless face now showed slight changes. She didn't know what emotion she was feeling now.
Maybe it was a burning hope?
Sasaki was also the same as Kobayashi and asked for more details from Mr. Alien.
In the end, she excitedly accepted Mr. Alien's plan with the condition of Jason and Mr. Alien obtaining a high position in the Toha Heavy Industry. It was a position that was almost close to Sasaki.
Later on, the Toha Heavy Industry would announce its new project.

Kobayashi was finally able to sincerely smile for the first time.
The future prospects of the Sidonia was looking very bright right now.
And it was due to the arrival of Jason Star and his alien parasite buddy, Mr. Alien.
