"I only take Golden Bird taxi," Ludwina said quickly. She was no longer looking curt. "I'll pay, don't worry."
"Okay," Andrea replied. He could tell that the girl was wealthy when she said she only ride the premium taxi which fares costs triple the regular taxi fares. He remembered that she did fly with business class. The taxi driver placed her suitcases in the trunk, and Andrea helped carry Ludwina to get in the Golden Bird taxi.
"Please take us to Menteng, Sir. Teuku Umar Street." Once she was seated in the backseat, Ludwina gave the taxi driver her address.
"Right away, Miss."
When Andrea heard where she lived, he knew Ludwina was from old money. The Menteng area was the most elite residential in Jakarta. It was home to wealthy people who mostly came from old money.
Considering how Ludwina just rubbed elbows with the head of the airport, and now they were riding Golden Bird, Andrea concluded Ludwina must be the daughter of an affluent family. The man couldn't help but let out a sigh. He remembered that Adeline's family also lived in Menteng before they moved to London.
The taxi stopped at a magnificent mansion that looked like a modern palace. Perhaps, it was one of the most luxurious estates in this elite residential area.
The driver took out the suitcases from the trunk, and a gardener immediately took them inside the house. Ludwina held out her hand to signal Andrea to carry her down.
Only then did Andrea pay close attention to the girl's face. Ludwina was beautiful but looked a bit childish. She had two big round eyes that sparkled like the stars, filled with mischief.
Her skin was as smooth as the snow, and there were some freckles around her nose and cheeks, which made her look cute. Her brown hair was straight and very thick, framing her beautiful face perfectly.
Maybe she was 18 years old. Why did her parents let her travel abroad by herself?
"Why did your parents let a kid travel alone?" Andrea asked in surprise. Nonetheless, he followed her demand and took Ludwina out of the car and carried her into the house, walking through a beautiful massive garden.
"Who's a kid? I am 24 now! I just graduated with honors from Columbia University," blurted Ludwina.
Andrea furrowed his brows. As it turned out, this kid had actually graduated from university, but her appearance and behavior were still like a kid, thought Andrea. A beautiful middle-aged woman came out of the house and quickly approached them with a worried face.
"Gosh, Wina ... what happened to you? Why are you being carried like this? Are you unwell?"
"I had an accident and with him and sprained my ankle, or maybe ... it's fractured... I don't know. I need to check." Ludwina began to shed her crocodile tears.
"Gosh ... then let's go straight to the hospital, okay. Let Johann check you," her mother said anxiously.
Both turned to Andrea, who had no choice but to nod. A big fancy car was out from the garage, and Andrea carried Ludwina in. Now, he was forced to accompany the girl to the hospital. Her mother sat next to the driver, and the car quickly drove to RSCM hospital.
Again Andrea had to carry Ludwina down from the car to the hospital because there was no wheelchair available when they arrived. They saw a doctor in the Orthopedy Clinic. Ludwina's leg was immediately X-rayed, and they consulted with the doctor while waiting for the results.
"If there was no fracture, we don't need to put a cast on it. It will heal by itself at home," said the young doctor in front of them. "She just needs to rest properly."
"But I definitely will need physiotherapy. Right, Doc? I need it so I can function normally quickly?" Ludwina asked hurriedly. Her eyes stared at Doctor Indra long enough to make him uncomfortable. Doctor Indra turned to Andrea and immediately understood Ludwina's intentions.
He cleared his throat, "Well, it depends. If you want to get better soon, then you have to get physiotherapy."
Her X-ray results arrived, and there was no fracture found, which made Andrea quite relieved. He could not imagine if Ludwina fractured her legs because of him. Her wealthy family would not leave him alone.
He sighed as he looked at the clock. It was already 8 pm, he couldn't fly to Singapore tonight and attend the job interview tomorrow.
They then returned home to Ludwina's home in Menteng. Because it was already evening, the other family members had all came home when they arrived. Ludwina's father was a middle-aged man with a patient face, and her brother turned out to be a doctor who was still wearing his doctor's coat when he arrived home.
"Hey, it's dinner time. Would you mind joining us for dinner? Thank you so much for helping and taking care of our Ludwina all day. We are very grateful ..." said Ludwina's mother when Andrea placed Ludwina on the couch. The man looked confused, he did not expect Ludwina's family would be so friendly toward him.
"Yes, just eat here. We also need to discuss the physiotherapy schedule for my foot," said Ludwina. Johann looked baffled when he heard her.
"You just sprained your ankle, didn't you? What do you need physiotherapy for?"
"Sssshh .. Doctor Indra said that I need physiotherapy. What do you know? You're not an orthopedist," said Ludwina.
Andrea could only smile at their banter. He knew Ludwina's intentions, and he was flattered because she seemed to like him a lot and had been trying to find ways to make Andrea stay longer.
Her family also looked very pleasant. Judging from their home, this family must be filthy rich, but their attitude was very down to earth and warm. Andrea was touched.
I decided to repost the full chapters here since this book didn't win the Wattys, so it's no longer exclusive in Wattpad.
Enjoy!
