Ulfar's luck, whether his Body Luck or corresponding Aether stat, had plummeted into the negatives. The King of Beskyr had lost his guardian angel that had been with him since birth!
Jake had noticed that his own luck had been largely inoperative since he entered the Magnetic Resonator. He attributed this to some sort of countermeasure by the Dungeon Digestor.

Death opposes only life, whereas destruction can assail absolutely everything. Hence, if one were to hierarchize these two elements, destruction would rank higher, despite their nearly equal destructiveness against a being of flesh and blood. In this specific case, Jake isn't utilizing his Destruction True Will because, let's recall, the control of one's Soul Power is not something one really does consciously. At his level, he cannot employ his True Will to perform meticulous and conscious actions like cellular surgery.
