While Oros was wracking his brain to prepare planet B842 for the impending energy crisis, elsewhere on the planet in high orbit, a certain civilization and their national Floating Island faced an entirely different plight.
The Earth Union and New Earth were on the verge of receiving an unexpected visit from an emissary hailing from far, far away.
They were unaware of it yet, but in their eyes, this calamity would likely not be less dire than the future increase in Aether fees tied to transportation and Ordeals that had not yet struck them.
Atop a skyscraper built in the style of the Empire State Building, an unassuming figure appeared beneath the magnificent levitating Yellow Cube at its top. Since violence was prohibited in an Oracle City and this alien's power was not particularly high, its request for a diplomatic visit to their territory had been granted without issue.

In relation to the fact that so few Earthlings have completed 7-8 Ordeals in the New Earth army, I must remind you that I'm speaking of professional career soldiers here. They merely follow orders and cannot act as they please.
Beyond a certain level, the Earth Union can no longer risk its soldiers' lives so easily because it can no longer guarantee that it will be worth it. For instance, the survival rate of participants in the Fifth Ordeal is only about 1 or 2% on average. Out of 1,000 elite soldiers sent, only 10 to 20 will return alive. Sometimes zero.
Since the number of Seventh-Ordeal soldiers is very limited, they are incredibly valuable, and out of 10 sent to the Eighth Ordeal, there is no guarantee that any of them will come back alive. For this reason, the government prefers to make do with soldiers of this level for now.
The situation is entirely different in independent factions (like Jake's, for example), which act solely in their own interest and are accountable to no one. Even so, in general, after the Sixth Ordeal, the number of Players with the courage to participate in the next one dwindles drastically. The preparation required to increase one's chances of survival also takes much longer. Going through Ordeals without a break at this level is practically suicidal.
