WHY: Getting ready on the first participation of our school in the Interschool Volleyball Competition for next year.
*Chosen Players will be given full scholarship for the whole year

"You know what Linda? Let's go! It's your time to shine. Tingnan mo oh, full scholarship, and take note, for the whole year?! "
"Allie you know I can't..."
"Why? Magaling ka naman magvolleyball, di ba? Actually magaling ka kahit sa ibang sports, so why not? Kung ako lang ang magaling sa sports, I'll do it. "
"You know I'm not confident enough. Oo, pag tayo-tayo naglalaro ako, pero kasama yung iba and playing in front of the many people? NO WAY! "

"Ashie... andun si Ashie... like papasok na sya ng gym, like magtatry out din ba sya for full time scholarship?"

"Linda... di ako magaling magvolleyball, but, magtatry out tayo"

Ang daming tao sa loob, as in halos puno yung bleachers. I don't know kung audience lang sila or magtatry out din pero sa looks ng outfit nila, I can say lalaro din sila. Sa laki ng school dapat di na ko nagtataka na ganto kadami ang magtatry out.
"Alam mo Allie, alis na tayo. Tingnan mo naman super dami ng sasali, and ilan lang ang kelangan nila? 12?24?"
"Whatever Linda, nakahiram na 'ko ng outfits natin. Buti may extra si Dana, andito din pala sya. And I wrote our names in the attendance. "
"Whuut? "
"So? Nakapagsulat na ba ang lahat ng names nila sa attendance natin?"
"Yes Sir Patrick!!!"
"Good! So, I can see na madami ang interested na makapasok sa ating volleyball team but do you have what it takes para lumaban sa ibang bigating schools? We will find that out. So ngayon, mamimili agad kami, kasama ng ibang PE teachers, ng pwede agad na tanggalin. So bakit yun ang hahanapin namin? So kelangan namin makita agad sino ang di pa marunong sa basic. Pag sa basic skills di na kayo marunong, why stay di ba? So during this one day elimination, matitira ang mga dapat matira. We will be choosing a maximum of 24 players and minimum of 10 players depende kung ilan ang makikita naming worthy to be in the team. So... is everything clear? "
"Yes Sir! "
I am negatively positive na di ako mapipili dito. Hundreds of wannabes and 24 lang ang kukunin? For sure madaming magagaling dito. Yes, I want and I need the scholarship pero nanenega na ko agad. I'll just do my best dahil nandito na din naman ako.
"Linda, tara na, salang na agad tayo. Bilis! "
"Ano ka ba? Unang laban pa lang, mamaya na tayo, "
"No! Bilis habang kulang pa ng 2 yung team dito habang nanonood si Ashie! Bilis andito sya. OMG! Mapapansin na nya ko dito for sure. "
"Hays, sige na nga pero baka magsisi tayong dalawa...naman... agad-agad naman kasi eh. "
This is it. Mukhang malalakas tong kalaban namin but I'll do what I can do.
After a set, change players na agad, as far as I can do, I did my best naman. We have to wait until afternoon to know kung pasok kami or hindi. Gusto ko din naman malaman yung result and because of Allie's request na din, we waited.
"Please gather inside the gymnasium. We are about to announce who among you qualified for the team. And remember, once you become one of the players, we have to start ASAP practicing every afternoon and you have to maintain grades not lower than 82 to have the scholarship.
So... all of the names that will be called, please come forward."
Shocks. This is it. Cross-fingered but still expecting for the worst to happen, that my name won't be called.
Ang dami ng names na tinawag, wasn't able to count pero feeling ko konti na lang ang names na iniintay until...

"OWEMGIE, GURL! I KNOW YOU WILL MAKE IT! "
I can't believe it myself as well. I qualified.
"I'm so happy for you Linda. Hindi ako nakapasok but that's okay, I'll cheer for you all the way. "
"Congratulations... You made it to the team. "
I was shocked. May biglang lumapit saking guy, and guess what, gwapo sya. I don't know him, but gwapo talaga sya. Matangkad, maputi. mukhang mabango, matangos ang ilong, kaso mukhang babaero.
"Ahmmm... thank you..."
"I knew you would be in the team. I was watching you the whole game and I was amazed. Hope to see more of you on the next practices... By the way, I'm Gio. Grade 12 student, TechVoc."
Inabot nya ang kamay nya to shake hands. Bigla akong na-insecure sa kamay nya. Ang puti and parang pambabae. Di siguro to pinaglalaba ng nanay nya sa bahay.
I shook hands with him "That's flattering. I don't know what to say. I'm Linda anyways. HUMSS, Grade 11."
"Nice, nice. So, I'll go ahead. "
Kumaway lang ako na parang pabebe. Didn't expect that. Nakakahiya. All my life ngayon lang ata may pumansin saking guy. What more should I expect as a SHS stud?
