Capítulo 5: Chapter 5: The Drunken Clam

So this is Alabaster huh? This town was actually quite big. It roughly looked to be about the size of a small city in my world, but this is considered a town??

"So what can you tell me about this town Arialle?" I said.

"Well, there is your run of the mill trade workers, businessman, guilds, adventure guild, merchant guild, small families, big families, church, slums, small time nobles, and etc." She said.

"Huh." I said quietly.

{So this is just a town??}

[Yep, towns here are about the size of small cities from where you are from.]

{Well, that is an understatement. . .}

[I think it is time you find a tavern or an inn, that way we can talk about this place more.]

{Can't I look around for a bit while we talk about it?}

[No. What I've got to tell you will probably be very exhausting on your mind.]

{Oh. . . Alrighty then.}

"Hey, do you by any chance know where there is a tavern or an inn here in Alabaster?" I asked Arialle.

"Sure, I'll take you to a tavern with a few rooms inside of it, but first we gotta make it through the gate." She said while we were walking towards the gate of the town.

There was actually a wall surrounding the town. The wall was roughly about 20 feet tall, and was roughly 10 feet wide. The gate on the wall was the same height but not width, it was only about 3 feet wide. Standing at the gate was four guards, and these four guards were checking in the people going in and out of the gate. Once we reach the entrance to the gate we ended up waiting for about 10 minutes before we were at the front of the line.

"Step forward!" Said one of the guards.

"What is your purpose for being here?" The same guard then asked us.

"I am currently coming back from a quest I had completed. I also found this guy being attacked by a slime." Arialle told the guard.

"Attacked by a slime??" Chuckled the guard.

"Yeah, he had gotten to close to one without a weapon or armor. Sadly he doesn't remember much either. I guess he ended up hurting his head at some point and he doesn't remember where he is from or why he was there. He does remember his name though." She explained to the guard.

"And, what is your name son?" The guard asked.

"Arthrall Pendragon, sir." I told the guard.

"Arthrall Pendragon? Hmm. . . A good name. So you don't know where you came from?" The guard asked me.

"Sadly I don't sir. Unfortunately, I can't remember much about what had happened except that I had fallen." I told the guard.

"Hmm. . . Alright. Well you will need to figure out what it is that you want to do, because we don't let people in here unless they have a reason to be here. So with that, I would suggest going to the Adventurer's Guild or the Merchant's Guild." The guard explained.

"Thank you sir! I will do just that after I find myself some lodging." I told him.

"Alright, you will have a pass for the next few days, but if you don't get into something by then you will have to leave the town sadly." The guard told me while he was ushering us forwards.

"Thank you again sir!" I yelled at him while walking away.

"Well that went well. Now I will take you to the tavern I told you about." Arialle told me.

So we walked for a little while. While walking she explained to me the surrounds, and what they were selling since the road we were on seemed like the trading area of the town. They had food, tools, weapons, armor, and etc.

After a bit we finally arrived at the tavern she had mentioned to me.

"This is the Drunken Clam. Not too sure why it is called that, but the owner here won this place from a bet in a game he played. Now since I have brought you here, I'm going to head on out of here and go turn in my quest. I will show back up tomorrow morning to come get you to show you around the rest of the town." Arialle said to me.

"Alright. Thank you again for the help by the way!" I said to her while she was walking away.

I turned around and looked at the entrance to the tavern. It looked alright from the outside, it didn't have anything bad on the outside of it like I thought there would be. So I walked up to the door and opened it. When I walked inside it didn't look that bad on the inside either. Then again it wasnt night time either, so it wasn't filled with a lot of drunks. I walked forwards for a bit while looking around the place. There was wine casks sitting along the right wall, a staircase going up stairs on the left wall, there were tables and chairs sitting around the first floor, and there was a bar at the back with a door leading somewhere behind the bar.

I saw a waitress and a barkeeper talking to each other, and decided to talk to them.

"Hi there! I was wondering how much it would cost to get a night here?" I asked the both of them.

"It will be 5 silver." Said the waitress.

"Alrighty!" I said to her while smiling.

{Uh. . . Do I have any money by the way?}

[Yes you do. It is in your inventory. I will automatically put the 5 silver into your right front pocket on your pants.]

I reached into the front right pocket of my pants and felt the silver coins there. I pulled them out and handed them to the waitress, who then brought out a key out of her dress pocket.

"Your room will be the first room upstairs to the left!" She said to me while smiling at me.

"Thank you!" I told her.

I took the key and then headed up stairs. I found my room to the left like she had told me. I unlocked the door and went inside the room, then i shut the door and locked it. I turned around to take a better look at the room and it was just a small room with a bed, a window, a nightstand, and a trunk at the foot of the bed.

"Not a bad room."

[No it isn't]

{I forgot you can still hear me even though I didn't say anything in my head.} I thought while chuckling out loud.

[Yes I can. I can literally hear everything you say or think about. Just I don't have to reply to all of it. Now since we are alone I can finally explain everything you are currently seeing besides the stuff right in front of you.]
