Capítulo 9: ANNOUNCING TO THE WORLD
"These are the evidence I promised," Steve said as he looked at the confusion on the look of Jessica. He could not help but be mesmerized by the glitter in the eyes of Jessica as she flipped through the document taking every little thing in. Suddenly the lively eyes were filled with sadness as she closed the document and put it aside.
"Are these not fine?" Steve asked.
"No… It's just that I could not bring myself to believe this….. It's a bit hard to go through these closed memories again." Jessica said trying hard to suppress the urge to cry.
Steve got up and moved towards the window facing his back to Jessica as he said, "Jessica, my mother always tells me that the birds fly from their home for a better life. I think you should learn from them"
Upon hearing his words Jessica realized that she was being emotional now and composed herself before standing up and moving towards Steve. "Your mom is right, I do have many things to learn from this world," Jessica said as she stood next to Steve.
"Mom asked me to bring you down with me. She has something important to talk to us." Jessica said as she picked up the folder and was ready to go out. "Alright I am coming you move ahead," Steve said as he arranged the documents on his table and safely placing them in one of the folders before going down. He was already aware of the 'important talk' his mother had.
In the living room, all the family members were sitting together and happily chatting. "Jessica, once my friend's daughter came home and went to Steve to play with him. In less than half a minute later she came back with her eyes red and swollen. She did not even move after that only sitting on the sofa until her mom came back. Later I came to know that Steve, this person next to you had given her to eat a worm…," Mrs. Smith said as all broke into another round of laughter.
This storytelling continued until Mr. Smith looked up at Steve and said, "when do you both plan on getting married?" Everyone in the room went silent, holding their breath, eager to know the answer.
"Soon," Steve replied sipping his tea.
"Jessica do you have any special idea or place where you would like to have a wedding?" Mrs. Smith asked excitement filled in her eyes.
"I… I want to ask something from you all, about the wedding." Seeing the earnest expression on everyone's face she continued, "I wish that we have our wedding after three months… I want to make a name for myself in this country before marrying Steve. If you want we can do the engagement now and wed later." Everyone fell silent.
"Dear, we don't care about your money or status we…"
"I agree with Jessica." Steve cut off the words of his grandfather as his eyes roamed around the room.
"Hey! Do you really care about these things… This brat!" Grandfather said with annoyance. Jessica could even work after marriage.
"No grandpa. Let her do things her way and you will also get time to prepare for the wedding. We can do a small engagement and then a lavish wedding." Steve said to convince his Grandpa and it worked. All agreed with the request, Jessica.
"Thanks for your support," Jessica said as they walked into the garden.
"It is my duty and I promised to trust you," Steve said. They both fell silent not knowing what to say next.
"Do you want to go to the Han mansion," Steve asked making Jessica stop in her steps. "It's not required after all they don't deserve the title of my family. My only families are my grandfather and your family." Jessica said as she walked into the house. Steve saw the retreating back of the timid girl with an ear-to-ear smile on his face.
'At least you consider me as your family. I promise to not break your trust.'
The engagement date was fixed after a week. Everyone at the Smith and Han mansion began preparations. Steve's parents dropped Jessica at the Han mansion. They also informed Father Han about the decisions made by them on behalf of the Smith family.

Dressed in an extinguishing off-white gown with a lace back Jessica elegantly walked down. Today was the most awaited day not only for Jessica but also for Han Family.
"Woah! How could someone be so beautiful?"
"Yeah, like just see her. She is soooo stunning."
"I want to marry her." People started commenting as they saw the girl slowly coming down.
Suddenly a hand extended towards the girl. She took the hand and followed behind her father. Her father led her to the middle of the hall.
"ladies and gentlemen. Today I want you all to know that this party s for a special reason. And the reason is my youngest daughter, Jessica. Mr. Smith please I request you to come on the mick to do this announcement." Father Han said as he directed towards a certain man where that certain person was sitting.
On hearing his name the man who had a kingly existence moved towards the girl. His every step made all the girls in the hall fall in love with him. The cameras around flashed without a break to capture the godly man as he walked past them.
Taking over the mick he said with his deep voice, "I am extremely happy to share my happiness with you. I and Jessica, Mr. Han's daughter want to start an official relationship. Today we all have welcomed you here so we could share this happy moment. Thanks for sparing your time for us."
After he finished he looked at Jessica who was smiling at his words. Seeing her cute face he could not help but pet her head. Thousands of flashes that had died suddenly a moment ago came back to capture this unbelievable incident.

Scrolling through the top headlines on the newsfeed Jessica laid leisurely on her sofa of the new apartment. She could not bear to live in the lifeless home and also didn't want to depend on anyone, so she bought a three-bedroom flat in one of the high-end areas of the city.
Jessica smirked at the headlines and thought, 'soon these will change to the despair of the Han family….. Just wait for my revenge 'dear father'…..' Jessica tossed the phone and went to take a shower before starting a new life.
