The captain of the guard was yawned towards the end of his long shift. His face was scruffy, and he scratched his itchy beard.
He had been on night watch with only a couple of men. He was wearing some makeshift armor and had a cheap energy spear. He was the only one with this kind of weapon, and his other guards only had basic swords and spears.
He was put in charge of one of the smallest towns on the Eastern border of the Ranid Kingdom. The government was trying to reach out to more of the peasants and smaller people, but with the captain being the only one with an energy spear, the other guards were more here for a show.
The captain huffed, all his guards were good for were to stop any petty thievery. They probably couldn't even stop a minor bandit or mercenary raid.
One of his guards walked up to him, "G' morning cap'n. How are ya?"
I'm thankful to each one of you readers. I eventually hope to make writing a full-time thing, and I am excited for when that'll happen! You guys are who help me come up with ideas and support me, and for that, I am so thankful. Enjoy the book!
