Capítulo 10: Tough Decision
'M.S. Entertainment!? That is one big company! They manage groups and solo idols. Their music is really very famous. I personally like many of their songs. But why is he giving this card to me? Does it really belong to him? What does he want from me?' I think to myself. I look back at him. "Umm, am still confused" I say. "I am Mr. Lee, am a producer at M.S. Entertainment. I really like your voice. How about you visit the company and audition? We are anyways thinking of launching a new solo artist. I think your voice is perfect!"he says with a huge smile across his face.
"Wait what the what? Did a producer from M.S. Entertainment ask me to come audition? Am I dreaming? Is this real? Is he real? What is going on? " I think to myself. He snaps me out of it. "Come to the address on the card tomorrow evening at 5. I'll be waiting for you" he says and starts walking.
I am about to stop him when he turns back. "Oh please give me your number and your name too. Sorry was so moved by your vocals, it skipped my mind", he smiles again removing his phone. Finally giving me a chance to speak. "How do I know all this is real, you are real? I mean I don't expect a producer of such a big company to just casually walk around a garden picking random people to launch." I say to him. "Well I came here for a meeting. I cant really prove it right now, but I guess you'll find out when you come to that address tomorrow." he says pointing at the card. That somehow convinces me. I give him my number and name. He thanks me and leaves soon after that. Without giving me a chance to speak further.
I stand there, trying to digest what just happened. Buzzzzz my phone starts ringing. It's Eun Ji. I answer. "I thought you said you wanted to sleep. Where are you? Heo Jun and I are in the room", she says. On my way I say. I go to the room. Tell them about all that happened. She gets really shocked. She really loves M.S. Entertainment. "You should go she says! Let's check out if this address is for real. She quickly googles it. OMG it is! You have to go Y/N. This is like a golden opportunity. Singing is your passion anyways, so what better than this? Its like the heavens planned it for you!" she says getting all excited and hugs me. "Yes I agree! You should go!" Heo Jun adds. I don't feel so good about it but end up getting convinced.
Next day, I go to the address. I look up at the tall building in front of me. It actually is M.S. Entertainment! I walk up to the reception. The operator asks me questions. I show her the card. She makes a quick call. Then asks a man to escort me to Mr. Lee's office. I follow him. 'The interiors are so beautiful.' I say to myself, looking around as we go. All posters and screens and many different rooms. We finally reach. He knocks on the office door. "Come in" a voice says. I walk in slowly. "Oh Y/N! Its you! I almost thought you wouldn't come! Am glad you are here", Mr. Lee says as he gets up and walks up to me for a handshake. Questioning myself as to what am I even doing here in my mind.
He quickly makes a few calls. Asks me to sit on the couch. I sit and look around. His office is nice, quite colourful. A few minutes later some people walk into the office. "This is Y/N, the girl from yesterday I told y'all about, and Y/N this is our core team of M.S." , Mr. Lee says.
I look at them and bow. Their personalities speak enough about them. They were important people. "Hello, Ms. Y/N, I am Mr. Choi, the Director of M.S." a well built, middle age man walks says while sitting on the couch in front of me. "Mr Lee told us a lot about you yesterday. Well he is very picky when it comes to music, so am really curious about your voice. Let's hear it?" He says looking at me. All other people settle down aswell. 'So I have to sing in front of the Director of the company!? What the what!? What am I doing here? Why am I here? Can I just run away? Oh lord halp' I think to myself, nervous af. "Come on Y/N don't be nervous! Go ahead", Mr Lee says. I gather up all the courage I have and sing. My eyes closed. Just trying to imagine I am all alone.
As I stopped singing, it all got silent. I opened my eyes to see all of them looking at me. They looked shocked. Most of them had their mouths open. I didn't know how to react at this point. I just looked at Mr. Lee. He had a proud smile across his face. "You were right, she is really good", Mr. Choi said patting Mr. Lee's shoulder. "He then turned and walked up to me. So tell us about yourself, Y/N", he said to me.
I tell them about where am from and what I do my age and all. They ask me more questions, I go on answering them. But then Mr. Lee asks me how I came to Korea. Why did I decide to reside here? To this I took a pause, all the past memories quickly flashed through my mind. My expression changed as well. "Y/N?" Mr. Lee brought me back from my thoughts. Just, I said. "I like this place. I came here for a workshop once, I was offered a job at a good school and I liked it here so I decided to stay." Wow your one smooth liar Y/N, I thought to myself.
They asked me to wait outside for a bit. Giving me time to analyze the situation. 'So in just a day I met a producer of M.S. Entertainment, he liked my voice, he called me for an audition and now I am at M.S. and am not sure what is going to happen next. Mostly, they will ask me to join as a trainee, then what? Can I say yes? Of course not, that would call for a complete change in my career, also I will have to shift here, in Seoul! All these are the the last things I want. I cannot agree, yes that's right I'll just say no. But then singing, it's been my passion since I was young. I had to give up on it due to the burden of my responsibilities. And now such a big company walked up to me, can really refuse? "An opportunity knocks at your door only once, you grab it or regret later", is what I have been telling myself always. This was literally a golden opportunity how could I let it slip?'
I was completely lost in my thoughts when I felt a hand on my shoulder, I was a little surprised and quickly looked up. I almost fell off the chair when I saw who it was. "Han! Omo!"I said, just realizing I said it out loud. The lead rapper of the group W.A.O. was standing right in front of me. W.A.O., a group of 8 talented boys, was one of my favorite idol groups. He looked so handsome and tall in real. "Are you alright?" he asked me. All I could see is his mouth move I was so lost in my thoughts, I missed what he said. "Hey! Are you okay!? He asked again shaking me a bit. This brought me back. "Oh umm yes am fine I just…" I stuttered. "I saw you sitting here all alone, you looked sad and confused, and I have never seen you around so I was just wondering if you are lost or something." He said. I opened my mouth to speak but was cut off my Mr Lee calling me. "Y/N, come in", he said. I got to go I said. And walked in leaving him all confused.
"So we have decided! You can start training with us from tomorrow itself! Am sure your training won't be a long one and we can soon have your debut. What say?" Mr. Lee said and looked at me for and answer. "What!?"I said completely shocked how fast it just happened.
