Capítulo 15: Just a Cheap Temptress
Ria Zhang didn't waste time. With Lulu in a tow, she met with Mira Cheng for the signing of the contract.
Mira Cheng was standing outside the lobby when a taxi stopped in front of her. The window glass was not tinted so she already saw Sierra Co even before she opened the door of the vehicle.
"Good morning, Miss Cheng. I am not late, am I?" Ria Zhang greeted the woman, slightly glancing at her watch.
For this meeting, Ria Zhang opted a white lace fitted blouse and black midi skirt. She paired it with a two-inch black box heels. Her shoulder-length hair was down, framing her face perfectly.
She just highlighted her eyebrows and dabbed a tinted lip balm on her lips. It was a wonder that the old Sierra Co was managing a beauty company but her makeup kit lacked basic essentials.
Mira Cheng smiled. "Just in time."
The woman in front of her was dressed simply but some people keep glancing at her.
'Who is she? Why is she with the Resident Chief Designer?'
'A new model?'
'She looks familiar. She's Sierra Co!' A woman whispered to her companion.
'I saw her at Costa Dresses a few days ago. She met Kara Lu and Marvin Kang there.'
Another woman's mouth formed an 'O'. "Really? Why I haven't heard about that?'
Ria Zhang smirked inwardly as they walked inside the building. Of course, her brother took care of it. Hmmmmp. Did Kara Lu think she would be able to humiliate Sierra Co again and again? Wishful thinking. Duh.
There were only a couple of people inside the lobby but no one paid attention to them aside from the receptionist.
"Good morning, Madam," she greeted Mira Cheng respectfully before her eyes landed on the woman not far behind Mira Cheng. Surprise flashed in the woman's eyes before it returned to its previous calm.
Mira Cheng just nodded before heading towards the elevator. Ria Zhang followed her while tapping on her phone. After she sent the message, she smiled lightly.
The elevator was made of glass hence, it provided a view of that part of the city. Ria Zhang has always been fond of heights hence the whole time, she was looking outside, her hands were pressed against the glass.
"I didn't know Young Miss Co love the heights," Mira Cheng commented, obviously surprised by the discovery.
Ria Zhang stole a sideway glance towards Lulu before answering Mira Cheng.
"Who wouldn't? The higher, the better. After all, whoever stands at the peak must possess a lot of power."
Mira Cheng curled her lips. Ambitious. Just like her brother. Before Mira Cheng could open her mouth to answer, the elevator door has already opened.
She extended her hand on her side. "After you," she said.
Mira Cheng brought Ria Zhang to her office. Inside, there were already two people sitting at the receiving area. One was a man while the other was a member of LGBT community.
Both raised their heads when the door opened. The man doesn't have much reaction while the other person almost fell from the sofa as soon as Ria Zhang stepped inside.
"Mira dear, you cannot mean that this woman would be the print model?" The person stood up, his hands were on the hips. His blonde hair was particularly outstanding.
Whoever does not know Sierra Co? Although he doesn't meddle in other people's affairs, Sierra Co was a loose woman. The whole of Costa City knew that. He can't stand people who insist themselves on others who clearly don't want them.
"Yes, she is. Why? Do you have a problem with that?"
The man with blonde hair opened his eyes wide. "Are you serious? Costa Dresses will be done for!"
"I am the owner of this company. When did it happen that I need to consult you, Howard?"
Ria Zhang stayed silent the whole time. Although she wanted to earn money, she didn't know it was still this hard even with the identity of Young Miss Co. She wanted to earn money but at the same time, pave way for Sierra Co to be accepted again in the society of Costa City.
She thought she can start by being a print model for Costa Dresses. She sighed. It doesn't matter. She's someone full of ideas. She can definitely earn her own money in the future.
"You don't have to argue over this," she said, interrupting the two people. "I'll just leave. After all, it's not healthy when a person dislikes you while working," Ria Zhang cut them off.
Mira Cheng looked at her. "No, I am the owner of the company. I can hire anyone I want to," she insisted, raising her chin.
The man called Howard crossed his arms over his chest. "Okay. You choose, then. If you hire her, I'll go."
Mira Cheng smiled bitterly before turning around to Howard. "You're making me choose?" Hurt was evident in her eyes.
"I can't just sit and watch that woman ruin your company," Howard argued, pointing his finger towards Ria Zhang. "She's just a cheap temptress," he further added.
Lulu who was silent the whole time with her head down suddenly looked up. This person dared to bully her Young Miss? She wanted to speak but Sierra Co didn't give her the chance to do so. She can only bit her tongue.
The words were caught in Mira Cheng's mouth. Just a few days ago, she thought Sierra Co was the new empress. But now, a longtime friend was calling Sierra Co as a cheap temptress. From empress to temptress real quick.
Ria Zhang pressed her lips tightly. She was the Young Miss Co. Did he think she was easy to bully? What temptress? Sierra Co might be a fool in love but she was no temptress. This stupid man. She was always the bully, not the other way around. Just a she was about to open her mouth to speak, the man who was silent the whole time cleared his throat.
"Mira, how about you think about it first? This is a major decision—"
"What major decision, Alex? It's just a print model," Mira Cheng's voice went a notch higher.
Ria Zhang raised her hand. "I will just leave. It's not as if I am poor to beg for this job." Well, Ria Zhang was indeed poor at the moment. But she always knew how to earn money.
"No! You're not leaving," Mira Cheng grasped Ria Zhang's arm. She then glared at the two men. "You're just like the people of Costa City. Always believing in rumors."
Howard shook his head. "I've seen her chasing Marvin Kang in front of so many people. What is that? Marvin Kang has already a girlfriend. If she's not a temptress, then what is she?" He sneered at Ria Zhang.
Ria Zhang slowly removed Mira Cheng's fingers from her arms. She was actually happy that Mira Cheng stood up for her. But she doesn't want to be the cause of a broken friendship.
She faced Howard. "The old Sierra Co was indeed a fool in love. But the new Sierra Co has already tasted the reality. If by that reason, you don't want to work with me, I can't blame you for that. I can only blame your unprofessionalism."
"You—" The blood surged towards Howard's face.
Ria Zhang turned her head towards Mira Cheng. "I'm grateful for your offer. But I also have my pride. I will definitely not work with unprofessional people. I also don't want to ruin friendships."
She gave Mira Cheng a tight smile before heading towards the door. "Lulu, let's go."
